LeBron says the Knicks had an advantage starting the NBA Finals on the road because there’s nothing to do in San Antonio: “You ain’t doing shit in San Antonio. Nothing at all. Nothing. And I mean nothing.“
I hope LeBron just continues his tour of shitting on nba cities.,
Charlotte: Do us next!
Lebron: no.
Gilbert Arenas: “do the city of Utah next”
Vernon Maxwell got them covered
Nobody has hated anything like Mad Max hates Utah before
Maxwell’s hate for Utah is unmatched. I love it!
Listen. Charlotte is great if your name is Gordon Hayward and need a city to settle in.
Charlotte is fine to live in, but yeah visiting is meh
I’ve been here about a decade, and I love living here. Could not imagine raising my family anywhere else.
That said, I can see how it’s not a fun destination to travel to compared to other nba cities. Very little to offer tourists.
+ What about Charlotte?
Lebron: yeah, that’s another city.
I’m reminded of the key and peele about the disabled heckler: https://youtu.be/RlTbJZ64sVM
I respect the Memphis hate
And his San Antonio hate. These Texas cities are hell on earth. Glorified highways with buildings next.
I won’t dispute that our cities are monuments to sprawl. But, NBA and NFL players love Houston.
Houston is great if you’re rich and/or famous. If you’re not, it’s a sweltering, polluted, crime-filled nightmare.
All i know about Houston is weather and power grid issues
And strip clubs. Don’t forget the strip clubs!
Scarface has awoken from his slumber, and now is actively looking for your ass.
The food is fire tho
Crime-filled. What?
Houston’s violent crime rate is 1148 per 100,000 which is #4 in the US for major cities, behind only Memphis, Detroit and Baltimore (and ahead of LA, Dallas, Chicago, DC, NYC, etc) - 219% higher than the national rate
This last part kinda surprised me tbh. Chicago has much more of a violent/crime reputation but its violent crime rate is less than half that of Houston (539 per 100,000)
Chicago has much more of a violent/crime reputation
That’s right wing propaganda. They say things are bad in “left wing” cities like NY, LA, Chicago regardless of reality
Houston and Miami are great cities to be young and rich in
Translation: They have lots of Ahem “Gentlement’s Clubs”
It’s too damn hot
Yea, they are fine cities, but it’s just too hot
Glorified highways with buildings is a pretty accurate way to describe most of LA. Especially the less ritzy areas.
Bbq is legit but the one time I went to Dallas and realized how fucking flat it is, naw I’m good. CA has great mountain
I just went to Dallas for the first time a few weeks ago. Was on an overpass and I swear I could see 100 miles in every direction. And about 5 dozen water towers.
San Antonio, Austin, and Houston are all great cities. There’s a reason people keep moving to them lol
Because the surrounding areas are backwards hellholes and those are the only blue areas lol
This describes like 99% of the US. Everywhere has the same rural urban divide. Outside of maybe New England its the same everywhere.
There’s levels to it. Rural New England doesn’t come close to the level of religious psychosis and derangement of the Deep South.
Yeah you’ll see confederate flags and dip shits in Michigan or Wisconsin outside the cities, but it’s not as racist or deranged as rural West Virginia.
Which is weird to me since he grew up in Ohio, not exactly an oasis either. No hate towards Ohio, but glass houses and all.
He trashes Cleveland all the time too.
clearly commenter has never met anyone from northeastern ohio
His own city was one of the first to draw his ire tbf
Cause he’ll never get over the fact that there’s nothing to do in Cleveland.
Edit: not enough ball knowers in here
Why do you think he left twice?
And this mother fucker from Cleveland
No he isn’t. He is from Akron. Cleveland doesn’t claim Akron and people from there don’t call themselves Clevelanders.
that’s like being from Maryland and everyone says “oh Baltimore!.” nahh DC area Maryland and Baltimore are two different worlds and people from either side will make sure you know that
there goes my bet on lebron joining the spurs next season
Maybe he means it as a positive, and now that he’s older he wants a slower life lol
Spurs should shoot a promotional video highlighting all the best senior discounts the city has to offer and LeBron might change his tune
They don’t want to engage in that warfare. Cleveland already has this gem: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ysmLA5TqbIY
Wait, isnt there another one?
“See our river that catches on fire,
Its so polluted that all our fish have aids,”
That one goes hard af
Real old man logic
Yes, he literally said it was an advantage lol
Finding a nice place to do nothing is a great spot to retire to.
There are a few teams that would be really good if they added a 20 mil Bron. Spurs and Wolves on the top of that list
Ant and Lebron would be an insanely entertaining duo even just for a year
Just shows lack of effort or personality. I have been to San Antonio several times and have found plenty of fun thins to do.
Dude is 1-2 vs Duncan. The 🐐. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Funnily enough they’re 10-10 in the regular season.
Dude hates a lovely river walk
If you were a 6’9 famous athlete that every single soul recognizes you would hate it too
I bet that’s the thing they miss the most, you probably can never go out on a walk like a normal ass human
Seeing Wemby in NY doing normal people stuff and he just gets swarmed by people and phones
LeBron never really had that. His high school games were broadcast on ESPN when he was a sophomore. The fact the dude turned out as well adjusted as he did is amazing.
Yep LeBron has been a household name since age 16 probably
It’s just unreal being that famous, people say the money is great yes it obviously is but some things can still suck
Bill Murray has a quote about it: > “I always want to say to people who want to be rich and famous: ‘try being rich first’. See if that doesn’t cover most of it. There’s not much downside to being rich, other than paying taxes and having your relatives ask you for money. But when you become famous, you end up with a 24-hour job.”
Or, to quote Tupac: “All I want is money, fuck the fame, I’m a simple man.”
Yep. If you’re famous, people start caring about every single thing you say and do. Nobody cares if the average joe thinks Memphis sucks. People were calling Bron anti-black for his take on Memphis.
Ironically, Bill is orders of magnitude more famous than his son, but Luke Murray is the one with the 24-hour job.
Honestly being from Akron I’d see this dude at fucking Applebee’s with his boys when he played for the Cavs.
He had it set up where the wait staff would bring a person over for an autograph every 20 or 30 minutes.
No crowd. People just chilling.
Or maybe he adjusted that well because of that much media attention in his formative years. I guess for most stars it hits them like a bus the last year or 2 before they are drafted.
In 1992, when the Dream Team was the center of global attention and their team bus would regularly get surrounded by fans in Barcelona, sometimes John Stockton would get off the bus and just walk because nobody thought he was a player. He would just be ignored. He was the only one on the team that just strolled around town with his wife and kids like a regular dude.
Guards below 6’5” definitely have it easier than the rest of the league in that regard. At that height, you’re just an athletic guy who’s taller than average, but no one would assume you’re a pro athlete unless you’re a star or tip them off somehow. For the rest of the league, people already tend to stare at people 6’5” and above, and even non-athletes get asked if they play basketball pretty often
I remember seeing Rashard Lewis and crew at six flags during the 14 finals. Checkmate LeBron.
Dude hates churros
Dude hates tortas 😞
He famously only loves taco Tuesday.
The midwestern Akron mind cannot fathom San Antonio tacos good enough to be eaten on non-Tuesdays.
Shut your mouth. No one could possibly hate tortas!
Lovely is doing some heavy lifting lol
Yeah im mainly joking. But its probably a nice spot to read the 1st pages of a few books
That’s where LeBron learned it was the best of times and it was the worst of times.
The Riverwalk is one of those things that the locals rarely bother with, because all the shops and restaurants are tourist-priced, it’s crowded, it’s a pain to drive to downtown and park, and they’ve got plenty of nature to go visit if the river is the attraction.
I lived in San Antonio for about 10 years and grew up near it. I can count the number of times I went to the Riverwalk on two hands.
But everyone who’s been there from out-of-town seems to love it. So yeah, if you’re visiting, check it out for sure.
Drive to downtown and park? What? See this is a thing a NYer just cannot comprehend.
…you’ve never left NY? This isn’t an unusual thing.
If you’ve ever been to San Antonio, one thing you’ll notice is how spread out the city is. And the same is true for most of our bigger cities. Same for a lot of other states too, and I think it’s less a New Yorker thing and more a northeastern thing, you guys have more densely packed cities with more mass transit options, while a lot of us in other areas spread out.
But yeah, from one of the places I lived in San Antonio, it would have been a 20 minute drive to go downtown. Walking there would be out of the question, and the city busses were…not well thought of.
I didn’t love it. It felt like I was at the Parents Island region of Itchy & Scratchy Land.
During the day it’s really nice place for the people who work downtown to go eat their bag lunch. It’s so shady and cool down there!
Dude hates some decent bbq
I see everyone bringing this up whenever a millionaire shits on some Southern city. Brother, the best chefs from these places are moving to LA/Chicago/NYC to make more money anyway. LeBron probably paid 10k for a personal meal from a BBQ genius whose food regular people haven’t tasted in the last 20 years.
The best bbq chefs in the world are waking up at 3 am every day in Texas, the Carolinas, Memphis and maybe KC. None of them are private chefs lol BBQ requires tons of scale
lol, barbecue “chefs” are not moving to NYC, etc.
It’s a crick
(Shaq noises intensify)
Lol. I mean - the riverwalk is cool like the mall of america is cool. Ain’t nobody hanging out there and once is enough.
The river walk has good bars and great food.
It’s not the mall.
Imma be real, I travel a lot and you basically do the same things regardless of where you are. I never understand what people mean by there being nothing to do in an urban city. I feel like they mean the venues are not as literally big, so there is “less” to do.
🤷♂️ I’ve hung out at the MoA and I’d 100% hang out at the Riverwalk.
Dude hates a cool guy I met at a bar once who moved to San Antonio to sell refrigerators
LeBron say good things about small market cities challenge
He went back to Cleveland of all places from Miami, that’s the biggest compliment he can make
He also shit on Cleveland just this year lol
*“*I don’t like going home either, shit, and I’m from there,”
Buddy is from Akron.
THE AK ROWDY
#JustAKidFromAkron 🤣🤣🤷🏾♂️
Ok but that’s not fair, Cleveland has the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Also it’s not Detroit.
It’s so wild to me he played in Miami, LA, and Cleveland lmao
Like he really chose the two most extravagant places in the country and LA
Cranky old Lebron is already sitting on his porch in his rocking chair. What does he need nightlife for, anyway? He watches his diet like a monk. He could retire to San Antonio and nothing would change. Nothing. And I mean nothing.
San Antonio with its population of 2.7 million is small market?
Anything not in NY, LA, Miami or CHI is small market apparently -__- I think San Fran too
We got OG’s shitting on current players and then you have LeBron shitting on cities
I don’t really think he said anything bad here.
And even then so what? Like he owes it to each city to talk them up? Not exactly groundbreaking stuff that he’s saying athletes like LA, Miami and NYC more than Memphis and San Antonio
LeDoesn’tRememberTheAlamo
Viva LeMexico
To be fair, the Alamo sucks as a tourist spot. It’s tiny and there’s nothing interesting in it. The main upside is that it’s right in the middle of the city so you haven’t wasted much time going there.
The actual Alamo was so small, couldn’t believe it when I went years ago
And when you consider the battle was largely over maintaining slavery, it gets even more pathetic.
shoulda been easy to defend then huh
I bet he remembers that gentleman’s broom he and the Miami Heat received in 2014. There must’ve been plenty to do in San Antonio 12 years ago lol
I’m curious what LeBron is looking to do in these cities
Anything at all. Anything. And he means anything
You can do something anywhere… shit I can have fun in some random tiny ass town.
Wine, fancy restaurants, meth, luxury spas, equinox and/or lifetime gyms, hyperbaric chambers, etc…
Wait what was that third one
Luxury spa
LeBath Salts
Waltuh…
I think it was math but I’m not quite sure.
whats crazy is SA has all of those things lmao. Idk what lebron thinks he’s missing out on in some of these cities. unless it’s the “influencer” network.
I bet San Antonio has a lot of nice stuff, but saying its luxury spas and fine dining are equivalent to what you can find in New York is delusional lol
They didn’t say that they are equivalent; just that San Antonio has the amenities the other person listed.
NBA players only care about three things:
strip clubs
escort services
not getting photographed while partaking in strip clubs and escort services
That’s why they like big cities. These mfers aren’t going to art museums and catching plays on Broadway, lol. It’s the women. New York, LA, and Miami have shitloads of very attractive, very high class sex workers who know how to keep their mouths shut.
Is that why Kornet went to SA because he’s against all of that?
Throwback to the analysis of how Harden sucks when a city has good strip clubs lol
Honestly I think you might have hit the nail on the head here lol
LeUnfaithful
Well, cities like NY, Miami and LA have restaurants, bars, golf courses, and cultural places like Museums or Art Galleries. Unfortunately, cities like Milwaukee, San Antonio and Memphis have none of those.
Am I missing something, because those 3 cities obviously have all of those. Clearly not as nice as what would be in LA or NYC.
Yes, it was sarcasm. What are these players even looking to do as the away team anyway?
For LeBron, nothing to do = no diddy parties 🥀
I’m no billionaire, but as an east coaster, I thought SA was a great place to visit. River walk is cool, weather is nice, people were nice, food was absolutely delicious.
This is mostly true but you don’t get to do most of these things as a giant, easily recognizable celebrity because you’ll be swarmed by fans. Texas summers I wouldn’t consider nice weather but at least it’s early summer.
San Antonio natives are pretty good about letting the Spurs players live normal lives in my experience; they may show some love but we know they’re just normal people trying to live their lives. I think it speaks volumes that so many former players end up building their lives here.
I used to work at our big popular mall… all the time you’d have spurs and other team players come in, just treat them like normal, no pics or anything, I checked Tiago Splitter’s ID because I didnt recognize him (didn’t follow the team that closely that year).
No way you came during the summer. Weather is not nice June-September
Had a family member graduating from the Air Force and it was maybe 90 degrees every day.
Got lucky!
Thanks, as someone from here, people hate us for no reason… theyre all used to 5 star meals for \(250 a plate and have no sense of taste when it comes to \)25 meals with quality people around them.
Yeah idk almost every person I’ve met from SA admits that it sucks
a lot of us are self loathing because Austin is right up the road, our town is old and dusty, a retirement and college town, not much in-between, but the restaurants, bars, and outdoor activities stick around for a long time
There are cool parts of the City and plenty of good food/things to do. It’s what you make of it, like most anywhere else.
Joakim Noah: “I never heard anybody say ‘I’m going to Cleveland on vacation.’ What’s so good about Cleveland?”
Full circle moment
Funny thing is just this last year he went to Cleveland and loved it.
For real though, I’ve heard a lot of players talk about how playing on the road is easier because you have nothing else to focus on except the game. You’re forced to spend time with teammates and just get ready to ball
Meanwhile wemby in the park drawing before game 3 in nyc ✍🏻
These guys also dont party like they used to
Tinder and Instagram erased like 90% of home court advantage
What do people like this want to do? San Antonio is a large city with unique things to do. If you can’t find anything interesting there, that’s on you I think.
Doesn’t LeBron famously* just sleep when he’s on the road in a playoff situation? I don’t think he’s the kind of guy to party when championship hopes are on the line. Just lazy humor, “this small town is sooo boring!”
It’s not a billionaire playground, so Bron doesn’t like it.
wonder what some of those cavs teams got into in the bay, or those heat teams got into in dallas
Or Lakers in Orlando
LeBron hitting up the teacups till 5am with Goofy and LeMickey
Not a series til a team wins on the home
wouldn’t it be funny if they don’t and knicks win because they have awayfield advantage in game 7.
…I personally don’t think that would be funny at all, no….
WTF do these dudes need to keep themselves entertained?
Strip clubs? There’s a reason you never hear them complain about Houston.
Tf….. Houston is more than strip clubs 😂
True, but the traffic isn’t really a selling point.
Also san antonio had a shit ton of them too, I passed like 5-6 on the way to work when I lived there
There are two types of strip clubs. Very high end and very shady dumpy clubs. San Antonio does not have high end strip clubs. NBA players are not going to dumpy clubs.
It’s just clubs right? They want to go to trendy nightclubs and not every city has them. That’s the only thing I can think when I hear an athlete say something like this. I can usually find something to do in any city, because I’m not a fucking degenerate
LeBron hasn’t enjoyed anything a normal human would enjoy in 20+ years. His idea of a good time is completely contingent on being around rich people and exclusivity away from others.
Yea the average humans dream vacation in America is San Antonio
As an average American, I think we just dream of any vacation anywhere but I actually hear SA is very nice with good food and a lot to do.
I’ve lived in New York and San Francisco and been fortunate to travel across the country and internationally. I say this because I’ve lived in and been to dream vacation spots.
San Antonio isn’t a dream destination but it certainly has things to do. The food is phenomenal and inexpensive. People are really friendly. There is a historic tourist district. The surrounding area has tons of fun stuff to do like going river tubing and exploring the hill country. There is plenty to keep yourself occupied with for a night or two.
I’d also like to point out that there’s a pretty large spectrum in between ‘nothing to do’ and ‘dream vacation spot’.
I spent a few days in San Antonio and had a really nice time
Fucking NYC/LA/Miami people are so far up their own ass, and 99% of the time it’s flexing wealth and activities that they’ll never afford
I’ve lived in all three major Texas metro areas, though it’s been quite some years. San Antonio was a lovely city to go out for a nice dinner, but compared to the other Dallas or Houston, it definitely had less of a club scene. It’s a lot better than OKC though.
It’s like the suburban version of a lot of other cities. Theres obviously stuff do, but it’s all like, one notch lower on the “exciting” scale.
If you’re living there for a month plus? It’s awesome. But if you’re there for like, three days while playing NBA games? I can see how it would be a bit dull.
It’s a large city. There is always something to do.
Large women.
Perhaps with Cardi D’s?
“Something to do” for multimillionaire athletes means Michelin star-type restaurants and upscale clubs. Stuff they can just drop thousands of dollars on in a night without having to read “36 Hours in San Antonio”
Been to SA once- really enjoyed it. Beautiful place and great food.
So that’s why he got swept in 07 and lost in 14?
Lebron devolving into an LA snob lol. “There’s nothing to do there” is every LA or Bay Area resident talking about literally anywhere in the world.
There’s some good food spots.
The team is in town for a night or 2 at a time during the NBA finals…are we expecting teams to hit up the nightlife in each city?
I mean, if you’re James Harden.
Yes. This.
What kind of culture did Lebrons teams have that they were worried about guys going out the night before the NBA Finals?
If any NBA player was seen out and about during the finals it would be all over ESPN. It doesn’t happen.
I mean you’re in the finals, worry about basketball not going out and sightseeing.
Looks like Lebron doesn’t know the joys of double fisting churros
Bron complains about cities the way some suburban woman from the midwest complains about vacation destinations.
Doing it while drinking wine too 😂😂😂😂
LeBron is still pissed about those two Finals losses to the Spurs 😂
LeBron James doesn’t care about Black Hispanic people
God forbid a professional athlete merely concentrates on his job during the most important couple weeks of his career.
The saline-filled whores will still be there in the offseason.
pro athletes thinking they’re the fine purveyors of taste and fun because they have lots of money and the normies eating up their opinion as gospel is what’s wrong. personally I’d enjoy a calm stroll around the River Walk and learning a little about some history than hitting up night clubs and buying needless expensive clothes. there’s plenty to do and appreciate in every major NBA city, you just have to broaden your horizons and do a little bit of research to get the most out of it
Love how the ultra rich always talking about average experiences of a city knowing full they live isolated, take jets and private chauffeurs every where, and only go to exclusive events.
I have never seen a league with players who bash the cities with teams more than the NBA. Like if you asked some of these guys they make the smaller markets like San Antonio, Memphis, and Indy sound like Gary Indiana. NFL has a team in Green Bay and Buffalo and you never hear guys trashing how small those cities are.
NFL teams don’t play in every city every year, do they?
Old man yells at clouds
So why didn’t he win one when he was swept by the spurs
