I don’t think the Falling on shots should be penalized just because there are legitimate reasons for it, even if they aren’t always present

He says things that sound correct but it falls apart when you realize that the “egregious non-foul flopping for a foul,” IS still happening and not getting called. Soft fouls suck and if they want to look at them they can, but hes lying when he says they’re calling the egregious ones. No you aren’t, that’s why people are mad.

I prefer a flop be called for flagrant 1 so if you get caught flopping again, you are thrown out. Coaches can challenge in case it was the wrong call. I’m sure there are better ideas out there. I just want to be able to watch good basketball game and not a free throw contest because of flopping.

If they take away flopping/foul baiting a lot of the stars stats would drop. Mainly their efficiency. I don’t think the league wants that. Just from watching SGA last series and Brunson this series. When their shots are falling they tend to play straight up. It’s when they’re struggling from the field they start to flopping and foul baiting trying to get easy points from the line.

Automatic 1 game suspension for flopping and it increases every offense. Problem solved

Free throws should be 2 shots for 0.5 each if you’re fouled and don’t make the shot, and only 1 shot for 1 point if you make the shot. Start punishing them for taking “shots” that aren’t a real shot.

The flopping comes from the inconsistency from the refs. The players feel that the ref don’t see/call a foul so they embellish the contact to make sure its noticeable. By the letter of the law, it’s technically a foul but hundreds of those incidents happen per game.

That’s where a lot of the discourse happens because it feels unfair because in this instance, it gives the referee full discretion on how and what they want to call. It can certainly tip the scale in a teams favor because refs are humans but flopping gives you a higher chance for the refs to ‘notice’ the foul.

Does everyone forget how good the reffing was the first month of the season in 2021, right after the Olympics when fans LOVED how the US players’ BS flopping wasn’t getting calls? We all loved how the season started with that reffing, and then …. then the league just went right back to nonsense.

Silver and the league won’t do anything substantive about flopping, and even if they do like they did 5 years ago, they’ll give it up as soon as it cuts into the scoring of marketable stars.

Why not review suspect plays during time outs. If they find a flop, then assess a free throw to the other team. If it is discovered more than once from the same player during the game, then eject them for the remainder of the game.

Only the second clip they show is a full on 100% flop

I’ve heard this shit so many fuckin times. If they enforce it at all its only against the 9th man on the roster and it’s completely gone by the time playoffs roll around

The solution is to consistently call it an offensive foul. There’ll be an adjustment period, but in the long run that’s the only way to fix it

I wonder why the league is so against taking action on flopping.  Particularly since they had a working solution to it, then rolled it back.

I’ve seen two theories: 

1. The NBPA pushed back on the changes.  Is the NBPA that powerful?  Imagine we had a lockout season with players demanding the league put back flopping. 

2. It cut down on broadcast time.  This seems more believable since it ties back to money, but the nba has never struggled to fill air time with pointless nonsense.
