Don’t forget the close out on the Josh Hart 3 that had more contact in the landing era than what Brunson was called for. The NBA does not want him suspended for flagrants. But honestly you can’t keep swallowing the whistle like they have been this series. 3 uncalled flagrant 1s and with the flagrant 2 on Naz Reid earlier this playoffs should be 5 points and a one game suspension. But the NBA can’t have that for the golden boy.
I don’t think it is rigged but the officiating was frustrating. They allowed physical play for 11 quarters but then had a quick whistle for the 4th yesterday. Broke up the rhythm and made it hard to get a comeback going.
Knicks didn’t lose because of the refs but the officiating was annoying and inconsistent with how the series has been called.

Can you find examples of them not calling it? They only call it at the 3 point line, when the player actually lands on a foot, not when it could have happened. You can think that’s dumb, but that is how it’s consistently officiated.
Wemby’s foot was in Harts landing zone soon after this on a three, and Hart landed on it. The difference was hart didn’t kick his foot out and fall to the ground.

The shooter (Champagnie) starts well behind the three point line and goes 2 feet forward. There is no attempt at a clean, vertical shot form above the landing space.
Brunson starts and stops well behind the three point line and was fully turned around. Champagnie clearly lands intentionally off balance trying to move his feet where they can find Brunson.
If Brunson crossed the three point line I’d see it, but this would’ve been a no call or offensive baiting.

It’s not dumb, you gain a ton of insight from hearing a player’s perspective. It’s also impressive when a player remembers a moment beat for beat. You see interviews where guys can talk through every moment of a play that happened 20 years ago.
This logic shows a pretty big fundamental misunderstanding of how sports work as well as the purpose of these interviews.
They want to write about the play and they would like to include a quote from the player involved in their writing. They can’t do that if they don’t ask the player.
