Yeah that could have sealed the game can’t make those kinds of plays in the clutch, he wasn’t close enough to close Wemby out anyway just an all around horrible play.

to me this felt more like the knicks got themselves into the bonus early rather than the refs. it felt like the only way they could really try to slow wemby down was to foul him. i may be wrong if i were to review the game again, but that’s how it felt in the moment.

It was definitely a foul but thrown out? Grow a pair. Tell Brunson to grow a pair to and quit exaggerating on any contact. Brunson foul baits as much as SGA. Fortunately he doesn’t get called for it as much but it’s pathetic how he’s throwing himself selling contact. Look at the play in game 2 at the end of the game. Wemby fouled him but Brunson flies out of bounds like he was hit by a train. 

Watch it again and tell me Brunson doesn’t embellish the push. He reacts like he was hit by a sniper

that should’ve been a foul, sure, but i don’t think it was anywhere near enough that would’ve thrown him out the game. i’d be hesitant to say it was a flagrant 1 foul, to be honest, though i could see the case for it.

I think the thing most people are annoyed by is when he overdoes it without success, forces it, and does out of rythm. Especially when he is such a threat down low.

However, the amount of energy he needs to spend to GET TO the low position is enormous, and especially at that point in the season, after rough battles in the playoffs, tapping into that energy during the first 3 qt means playing the 4th quarter exhausted -and making mistakes such as the one we saw in game 2.

I think Kitty Kat should be assessed a flagrant every time he hooks a player. I think those are more dangerous than being shoved down. 

i think there is a case to not call a flagrant 1 there (i’d have to review it again, but it didn’t seem like there was wind up, follow through is a little hard to tell because brunson did sell the contact as well), but to not call a foul there at all was kind of crazy to me.

How many Kat hooks weren’t called tonight? Goes both ways.

He’s getting grabbed a lot down low and having to fight for position against strong players. He should have more, but they aren’t calling the chippy fouls too much either way unless it gets out of hand which it did in the second quarter.

Im not upset with him for that they need his energy on offense.

For rebounding height matters less than your boxing out and positioning, and with Wemby anchoring the entire Spurs defense AND offense, I imagine he saves some energy by not really contesting for every rebound.

A lot of that is just game plan. He contests a lot of shots and the other team is actively scheming to pull him away from the rim.

He’s averaging over 10 per game in the playoffs

I don’t think it’s his positioning but rather he can’t get where he wants to go because everyone is allowed to push/hold treebeard. I wonder if him getting bigger would put too much strain on his feet/legs like Yao.
