It was insane to see. I was in college in NYC during that time and I had flown out before Linsanity and flew back in the middle of it. The city went from nothing to being all in with his face everywhere. He’s still one of my favorite players for representing regular Asian kids and somehow becoming the most famous person in the NBA even if it was only for 3 weeks.

I’m from the UK… I became a New York sports fan when my dad (a Jet’s fan) came home with a Shockey Giants jersey for me. Shockey became my nickname for around 3 years from 14 onwards because of that jersey. Basketball has always been my least favourite of the big north american sports, I had flirtations with other teams, which players did I like, which uniforms did I like etc. Then Lin came along & my NBA fandom immediately aligned with my NFL fandom. Watching this run now at 3am I couldn’t be happier for how things worked out.

This comments just shows you weren’t there. The only time I saw NY as electric as Linsanity is now that they’re in the finals.
Funny thing is I was there. I live in NYC and was watching the game with my cousin. I’m just not impressed by one month out of a whole season. People seem to forget once other teams figured out Lin he fell off he wasn’t as effective and also injury prone. So I don’t know but do you homie keep living in that one month.
That’s not entirely true.
He got hurt, then he got traded to the to rockets, then the rockets traded for Harden, which was obviously a bad fit since Lin needs the ball to be effective.
Then he got traded to the rebuilding lakers. But after that he was in Charlotte where he was actually a 6MOY candidate. He also did pretty well after that in Brooklyn until he got hurt again.
So no he never became an all star level player again, but he was a good player after he got to a team that actually would use him properly
