It just depends on what you want out of your basketball viewing experience.

Personally, I did not enjoy this season at all as a Hawks fan, even with the “winning streak” at the end of the season.

It doesn’t feel good watching your team rack up meaningless wins as a transition team in March/April and then have no fucking clue how to play the game of playoff basketball.

Spent the entire regular season getting downvoted on the Hawks sub for saying we relied too much on transition scoring and CJ McCollum hero ball during the regular season. Not at all impressed with Snyder.

Little known fact, for the first year and a half on the team, Quin would consistently scheme up the first play of the game to be a shot for Zacc. You can go back and watch, it’s easily more than half of the games he started. The issue is that Zacc is so deep inside his head now that he constantly presses and makes even worse decisions. Zacc has all of the physical tools to succeed in the league, but while he’s not uncoachable he’s definitely “coaching resistant.” He has awful ball handling abilities, but doesn’t have the quick decision making ability to be a cog in a motion offense like Quin would like.

I think this is going to be a telling offseason for him. If he’s able to puzzle out his role on the team and how to approach it without being too deep in his own head there’s no reason he can’t be a solid wing in the league. I still think we move him because of the tension between him and the coach, but it’s completely possible to recoup at least a portion of his value before doing so. It’s sort of in the mutual interest of both parties for them to figure out how he fits in the system so that he can actually be moved to a desirable situation.

Well deserved. There were a lot of talks in Hawks circles that Snyder would not be extended prior to All Star Break (when the team was 27-31) since at that point this season was seen as a bit of a disappointment (compared to the beginning of the season with Trae and Porzingis). But the turnaround since then really showed what this team could be (best record for the team since 2015-16). And there is SO much room for growth with a relatively young team.

Quin has been a bit polarizing in Atlanta (some of that is warranted). But in truth he has not had a consistent lineup to work with year from year since he joined (he joined at the end of the Dejounte Murray era), and the fast, ball sharing style of play that he wanted kind of clashed with Trae Young’s style, which was more ball dominant and heliocentric. Snyder got a lot of the blame when this team underperformed and while I can understand some of it (the lineup decisions, playing time for players), a lot of the blame SHOULD come from the fact that the roster was just not good enough. It took a LONG time to shed that original 2021 conf. final run team (only Onyeka remains)

So I’m glad that he is staying, the Hawks can be contenders in the East within a couple of seasons…

Hawks are in such a weird place. Between Snyder never playing the young guys and our player scouting/drafting being genuinely pretty terrible it feels like it’s been a long time since we felt excited to cheer for a draft pick.

All the Hawks might be the 2nd best team in the NBA jokes are funny but this is a team who lost their last game of the season by 60 and our star player looks like a regular season PRA man, he’s got no dawg in him & completely given up on playing defense.

Snyder spent what should have been a super important developmental year for the team playing mid vets too much, chasing wins & being a transition team post-ASB because it was a contract year for him.

No well coached team melts down the way the Hawks did in their last two playoff games. The complete inability to play in the half-court on either end of the floor this team displayed is a direct consequence of being a team that only relies on scoring in transition, running teams out of the gym late in the season, and having negative defenders jack up a ton of 3s.

Didn’t look great against the Knicks but when you look at the run they had, the fact that the hawks started with their top 3 including Trae and KP and saw growth in this young team, I would say I’m optimistic as a hawks fan.
