[Highlight] Didier Fuentes gets the save and the Braves complete the sweep of the Pirates
45-21
That’s pretty good
We’ve been the best team in baseball since topper got fired, and we’ve only gained one game on the braves in that span, it’s so annoying.
The braves are good tho
I don’t think you’ve gained any. You had made up one before yesterday but the Phil’s lost and the braves won, so that was that.
Maybe I just not tapped in but it feels like the coverage compared to league-leading record is off because they’re just quietly, consistently winning.
Nothing super ground-breaking or flashy, their only remotely viable mvp candidate so far has slowed down, no drama, winning almost every series but no long win streaks. Not being NY or LA is obviously a factor.
Very annoying to be in all 3 games and come away with zero. The way this roster is constructed it will be difficult for us to beat the good teams. Need to go on a stretch after facing the Dodgers or things could fall off fast
That’s just Pirates baseball, man. :(
No Diddy, Yes Didi.
The Diddler strikes!
Just let him be a long man/earlier high leverage arm this year. Try to add a rental starter. Let Didier loose in the rotation in 2027.
Iglesias, Suarez, Lee, Fuentes as the main group. Lopez and Dodd as longer options when needed. Kinley and his slider can pop in. I assume at least one of Waldrep, AJSS, and Holmes factors in somewhere. Maybe even a wild Strider pending on how things play out.
First time that I can remember where I’m not bothered about getting a bullpen arm.
Your bullpen is freakishly nasty. Outside of Lopez in the 8th today I didn’t have a feeling we would have a chance to threaten against it
Yeah I’m honestly curious as to why our bullpen setup was what it was today. Obviously we’d like for Lopez to go 2 innings when needed, but I’m surprised Suarez was down today. Thought we’d go Lopez > Fuentes > Suarez until Lopez came out for the 8th.
This is comfortably the most confident I’ve ever been in a Braves bullpen though. Especially when you factor in the shuffle once Waldrep, AJSS, and eventually Schwellenbach make their way back from injury.
Bullpen got taxed pretty well this series. Suarez was down because he’d pitched 3 of 4 on the homestand going into yesterday and they likely didn’t feel comfortable using him today (or just wanted him to get more rest).
I kind of understand that, but in reality he went 3 in 5 days before today. In a world where Lee and Iglesias aren’t both down as well the logic tracks better. Having all 3 down in a 1 run game when one of them was off the day before seems overly cautious. Especially given I’d imagine Dodd was also down today. Plus Suarez was off on Thursday and Saturday.
Fortunate to have Kinley and Fuentes really. Just not sure I’m a fan of resting a guy who didn’t go the day before and only once in three days with Lee and Iglesias coming off back to back duty. It worked out and I have little to no complaints with Walt’s bullpen usage thus far. Just a small blip for me and nothing worth stressing about going forward unless something is up with Suarez.
We’re up 10 games in June. Suarez has pitched a ton this year. We need these guys for October
He hasn’t gone more than 1.1 in like a month at this point. The high leverage long man is a myth, Carrasco or whatever of the AAA relievers is on the roster is always gonna be the long man.
hey, Braves fans- he’s just 20 years old! 🎶
Pirates offense was in a RISP situation so it was never happening
Thick Diddy
Is Fuentes going to close at all or just a one time thing
Just a one time thing. They have Suarez and Iglesias at the backend of their bullpen.
the diddler!
