Gimenez scores from second and the Jays have scored 5 runs to take the lead
Fuck you Nic Lentz
Ngl I get being angry fully if I’m an Orioles fan, but surely there is some responsibility on the team outside of the umps lol, they had nothing to do with the 3 hits on two outs after that
It’s like when Jays fans fully blamed umps for the Bichette baserunning mishap in the World Series under the context that it wouldn’t have happened if the umps made the right call, but like, that’s still on Bichette for doing that after it.
Because the Jays should not have even had the opportunity to score these runs in the first place, how is that hard to understand?
Gunnar made no effort to tag after his error to let him on in the first place. Didn’t deserve the out.
How do you define an effort to tag? He ran towards Clement, with the ball, and moved his hand towards him. Is he forced to run 6 feet out of the base path in order to make the tag, causing him to not make the play at 1st base?
It’s okay to admit that you benefited from an umpire fucking up. Surely Jays fans would recognize this after being on the other end of the equation in the World Series.
Literally all he had to do was stop and it would be considered a run down and clement would have been out.
Extend your arm
No, but if he tried to tag him (i.e. Varland in the 9th) then Clement is probably out.
Yeah, no. At some point you have to give up on the idiot running 3 miles outside the base path and take the sure out at first.
Well you also committed an error to allow Clement to get on base in the first place, and also that play where Gimenez scored could have been prevented had the ball not been slowly flipped to first base.
Yeah, I like the game outcome to be dictated by the players and not the judgement of the umpires. Absolute loser behavior my man
I’m not saying it’s not on the umps at all (Clement should have been called out by a mile) but some of these runs could have also been prevented if you guys just played sound fundamentals
4 outs, and Clement in second when he shouldn’t have been make it a lot easier to score.
I do understand that, I’m saying that while that is true, the Orioles aren’t playing in a hypothetical world where the call was made, they are living in the world where it wasn’t. And they proceeded to allow 3 hits on two outs immediately after that.
In a world where the ump makes the ball call, Bichette doesn’t walk off the basepath, Jays have 2 on no outs instead of 2 outs no one on, and Jays have a significantly better chance of winning game 3 which ended in a 1 score game, which could have made the difference in the world series.
But that world didn’t happen, Jays lost because of themselves not the umps, and Bichette deserves blame for that even with the bad call, and the Jays being the hypothetical winners in my head means jack shit.
I don’t give a shit about what happened to you in the world series lol
I know, and to my point again, I don’t give a shit that you imploded after a single bad call and allowed three straight 2 out hits
This is such a dumb argument. You could flip it and say the Jays shouldn’t require 4 outs in an inning to score 5 runs.
Well you’d be right, the Jays shouldn’t have needed and gotten 4 outs, and they did really get lucky. But a bad call doesn’t erase anything that occurs afterwards, the 3 straight 2 out hits are not on the umps.
There’s a very clear interpretation of the rules that makes calling Clement safe there’s perfectly justifiable though. From the moment Gunnar flailed his arm, Clement can’t deviate more than 3 feet from his spot to the bag. He could have been in centrefield at that point and as long he goes straight to second he’s not automatically out. You could also argue that there wasn’t even a tag attempt… a weaker argument but that may have been how the ump saw it. If it was called the other way the Jays fanbase would be even more livid IMO.
or like saints fans blaming the refs for the no call in the nfccg despite getting the ball in over time and throwing an int
That was late in the 4th quarter of a playoff game though, this is the 6th inning in early June.
Not the same lol that was a play that would’ve secured the saints a super bowl trip and was egregiously and objectively bad by every standard.
It’s not a teams responsibility to play through terrible officiating and win in spite of it, and I say that as a Blue Jays fan.
It’s not a team’s responsibility to play through terrible officiating…
Yeah it is. It sucks sometimes, but it absolutely is. If it wasn’t, just about every game umpired by C.B. Bucknor or Angel Hernandez would end in a forfeit.
The umps gave up hits with 2 outs obviously
If I were an Os fan I would not be happy with that call. But I would also be pissed at my 2nd basement for the most pathetic attempt at a tag I have ever seen. If he makes a little more effort into the tag I bet Earnie is called for being out of the baseline but he literally moved his glove like an inch…
I only own one basement
So many wild innings between these teams in the last week.
What a bunch of babies downvoting your comment
lol I know, I didn’t think I said anything that outrageous, this is just the third game in a week with a huge lead change that happened very quickly. No idea why that riled anyone up but 🤷♀️
O’s earned theirs at least
Baz also probably shouldn’t have given up a single and then a double to known power hitter Andres Gimenez,
That part conveniently gets left out, can’t blame that on the umps
We can, because the inning should have been over
It’s a baseball game in June and you guys are 1 run behind us. Calm tf down
you’d think it was game 5 of the ALDS the way O’s fans are getting on
Alby not going out there and tearing that loser first base ump a new one is some loser shit
[deleted]
Dw OUR manager just made one our hottest hitters bunt
To try and move our slowest runner
A battle of who wants to lose this game more
I mean that call was bullshit, but we also kept the inning alive with a Gunnar error, and what the fuck was Holliday possibly thinking here?
Yikes
Orioles big mad
I had zero faith the Jays could come back after Gausman capitulated in the top of the inning. Glad to be proven a faithless fool!
It’s not like the Orioles aren’t playing well, BTW; their lineup has been hell on Jays’ pitching in this series.
Shit. On.
Everyone relax, I have secret intel that Hoffman is already making his way to the pen to warm up /s
Why? A completely undeserved big inning? Congrats for capitalizing on umpire incompetency
Maybe he should have tried to tag him instead of shifting his arm.
3-Foot rule doesn’t apply if he doesn’t make a proper attempt, nor did he seem to leave the 3ft area of the base path?
I understand that’s the rule, but what constitutes a “proper attempt?” Just admit that it was a borderline call that benefitted your team
My assumption is that the ump didn’t see him make a movement of his arm, and only saw him twist his hand.
So you’re agreeing that the umpire missed the tag attempt
No?
Maybe I’m stupid, but I genuinely do not understand why you guys keep saying that. Gunnar did try to make a tag. Not a particularly good one, but he did.
lmfao
Username does NOT check out!
Been that type of season lmao. Too many false starts.
They’re still in it but god i want to see some consistency.
Hey, so say we all!
crazy how salty the Os fans are on reddit atm while also not knowing the rule. Kept asking me for it in other thread then not liking the rule
Orioles fans still having meltdowns in a separate thread, maybe they should appreciate that seabold is doing everything in his power to give the lead back
