Rockies Game Notes for 6⁄7
Cumstein
Absolutely no fucking way.
It’s pronounced “stain”
Cumstain Bears
Goondella Effect
you fuckin guys have me cackling
Goddammit, beat me by 2 fucking seconds
Cumstain, Indiana breaking ground on that new stadium as we speak.
🤭
The Cumstain bears
Better than stine.
Mandela effect
Probably told people the “cum” is pronounced like “cumin”… that must have been one hell of a childhood and adolescence
FRONKENSTEEEEN
It’s Cummin time
There is absolutely no way that his friends’ nickname for him isn’t “Cumstain”
EDIT: it’s a Caddyshack reference and clearly a line I don’t remember
It’s from when he’s talking to Danny on the course. Uses Mitch as a cautionary tale about college.
I found the clip
He was night putting. Just putting at night…
Yall never seen caddyshack?
Imagine what his room smelled like
The same as every other men’s dorm room.
It’s a Caddyshack reference
Why is he last on this list smh
and they were roommates
Just a couple committed bachelors
The maiden name of Adam Friedland’s mom.
Not true. He’s a fuckin bug
Miles Edgeworth
It’s pronounced STEEN!
Sorry Mitch. I’m afraid I can’t do that
My roommates last name was seiman and he when he introduced himself he was like it’s like semen middle school was rough
it’s from some old 1980s movie.
I bet his Frat nickname was respectful and something his grandmother was proud of.
He was night putting, you know, putting a night, with the Dean’s daughter.
A lot of you in this comment section never saw Caddyshack and it shows
He was night putting. Just putting at night
With the 16 year old daughter of the Dean
Really tells you something about the average age and/or quality of the sub, really.
Mostly the age. It’s easy to forget how many people are no older than college age on here
Caddyshack came out 46 years ago, just saying.
I’ve seen it a few times and I don’t even get the reference
Chevy says his roommate’s name was Mitch Cumstein when he is imparting some of his wisdom to Danny during a round
I’m 39 and watched Caddyshack tons on DVD, but I totally forgot the Cumstein joke
Huh, wonder if they kept that joke in the TBS cut (and why it’s going over people’s heads)(mine included)
It’s been like 10 years since I’ve seen it.
I’ve seen it several times but it’s probably been about 20 years since I last saw it as a rerun on Comedy Central
Yeah, it’s always funny seeing stuff like this.
You don’t get a nearly half century old reference? Uncultured
Im 66 and missed it so 🤷♀️
I’m 36 and have never seen it. It’s was “my dad’s funny movie” growing up.
Alright, screw you too, bud. There, how does it feel when someone says mean words back? Doesn’t feel great, does it? /s
I’m sorry, it hurt to type
Just like my back.
And Star Wars is even older. What’s your point?
my teenage nephew didn’t know who The Doors were yesterday and it blew my mind. then i thought about it for a bit and it’s not really that odd
but when you were young, didn’t you know who Louis Armstrong was? Elvis? Chuck Berry? Buddy Holly?
I feel like “older” generations used to be aware of the previous generations media and stars. I feel like the current ones don’t.
I bet you knew who the three stooges are, but is your nephew aware of Cheers?
i definitely did but i think it gets harder with every generation, even with the vast knowledge of the internet at their disposal. the internet might make it even more overwhelming actually. back in the 80s and 90s you could be aware of the 50 and 60s pretty easily, they were still huge cultural touchstones at the time….but is a kid today expected to know every movie and band and book from the last 80 years now? that’s a lot of information. he definitely knows The Beatles and Pink Floyd so i just assumed of course he knows The Doors, but it’s not realistic i guess
edit: and just to be slightly more accurate him knowing all about the 60s would be more like me in 1994 knowing all about stuff from the 1930s….which i did not
im nearly 30 and that movie is WELL before my time
its not just about age. its about exposure. I know plenty of media older than me (late GenX). Caddyshack was actually out before i was born. But i know it, and many older media.
Because growing up in the 80s and 90s, we didnt have an endless stream of constant “new” content. If we wanted to watch TV on a sunday afternoon, and all that was on was news, shop at home, preachers, or old movies, we watched the old movies. and TV shows like I love lucy, and the Honeymooners, and Leave it to Beaver, and the Brady Bunch, and the 3 Stooges.
Many of us didn’t have cable yet. hell, some households only had one screen (just one TV), and if your dad was watching an old western, guess what, you were watching an old western too. “what ever happened to Lee Van Cleef, what ever happened to lee?”
It was watch that or nothing. so we watched.
But the new generations never have to deal with just watching something because thats all there was.
I mean the movie was 46 years ago, i imagine most of this sub wasn’t born yet.
right. it’s like someone from the 1980s saying, you guys don’t remember that small movie from the 1930s. and it’s not even a mainstream flick. The only actor that is still working is Bill Murray, most of the actors never got out of that 1980s bubble.
Uhhh I was with you on the time point but Caddyshack was absolutely a mainstream flick. Chevy Chase and Rodney Dangerfield were also both huge stars
They were big stars in the 1980s but don’t really seem that as stars or really relevant in 2026. Even in the 1990s, think they went straight to video for the most part, except for Murray. Also that line wasn’t really memorable and Chevy Chase isn’t that funny. it was Dangerfield: “Hey everybody! We’re all getting laid!” and since we’re on the topic of quotes, that well we’re all waiting. Think Chase agedlikemilk tbh.
Millennials love to consume the culture of the previous generation though.
Edit: Wild that I’m getting hate for this very accurate statement. We’ve had far greater access to home media than previous generations which has made it far easier to consume culture that we weren’t alive to experience at its creation.
I’m a millennial that has seen it 2 or 3 times and don’t remember the reference. It’s old and not in the public consciousness like that anymore.
The protagonist (young golfer guy) isn’t known for anything else but Caddyshack. Also 1980 was the era where the original Star Wars dominated everything, like how Marvel is basically the 2010 era of films and anything produced in that window is going to be forgotten about in the next 45 years. It’s like being in the 1980s and think, how come nobody knows that 1934 classic The Count of Monte Cristo or Cleopatra.
The protagonist (young golfer guy) isn’t known for anything else but Caddyshack.
I will not stand for this Nate and Hayes erasure. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085994/
I can bet more people know more about Caddyshack than Savage whatever. you are supposed to introduce a movie that is bigger than caddyshack, Ah yes, introduce a movie that is less known.
There are many things you can use to comment on the decreasing quality of a subreddit but I don’t really think “recognition of a single very specific quote from Caddyshack” is one of them
I don’t think we needed to do a survey on Caddyshack knowledge to work out that the average age on this subreddit was somewhere south of 60.
It’s age. It’s one of those movies that people my age would likely only ever see if it was one of their dad’s favorite movies.
It’s one of my top-5 movies of all time and I still didn’t remember that line
Yeah, I’ve seen that movie probably a dozen times, can quote the entire Dalai Lama monologue (“big hitter, the Lama”), and this line didn’t even ring a bell for me.
The “right in the lumber yard” speech
Were you guys watching the movie…on weed?
Or it’s just old and not in the public conscious anymore sufficiently to remember every line. I’ve seen it 2 or 3 times and don’t remember the reference.
They probably got kicked out of the theater for night putting.
I’ve seen this movie a million times and I’ve never noticed it.
Now to make it 1,000,001 times tonight I guess.
I’ve seen it easily twenty times in my life because my dad used to always put on the VHS tape and, later, DVD when I was growing up, and I never would’ve clocked this reference if it hadn’t gotten pointed out here.
It’s good luck….in haiti
someone in this thread described it as “some old 80’s movie” and my eye twitched.
Or they watched it a bunch of times on mute.
I can’t believe I had to scroll this far to see this remark. We’re doomed as a nation.
Mitch Cumstein: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5b5DsF5nzKA
Good guy. Didn’t know he was that tall.
Solid pull
He was night putting…just putting at night…
With the 15 year old daughter of the dean.
Peter Crouch mentioned!
Mitch Cumstein mentioned!
I like that they referred to him as a footballer instead of a soccer player
Cumstein? Bro had a rough high school no doubt
Edit: disappointed in myself for missing the Caddyshack reference :(
Not sure about high school but I do know he was kicked out of college in his fourth year in the final semester for night putting.
🤦🏻 these uncultured youths…
Bunch of nephews up in here
High school? If this guy was real, his name is getting smirked and snorted at his whole life.
My parents had a friend when we were growing up. Her last name was Swallows. She turned out to be a lesbian, interesting enough
What’s the opposite of nominative determinism
Nobody here has seen Caddyshack lol
They were busy night putting.
I better not hear people make fun of Mitch Cumstein, he was a good guy and gave me a good deal for an air hockey table on Craigslist.
He’s big, he’s red, his feet stick out the bed, Peter Crouch, Peter Crouch
Do any of these. Little fuckers. Ever have like a juicy burst when they’re coming into first?
Never heard of the Judge fella.
You shared the outfield with him for a season, Joseph
something, something, rickey henderson and john olerud
They misspelled his name on thie graphic, they clearly meant to write Arson Judge
Crouchy mentioned
Fun fact about James Cromwell:
He is a legit animal rights activist. He was once arrested for gluing himself to a Starbucks counter protesting their policy to charge extra for milk alternatives & Starbucks then changed the policy.
Funner fact- his activism and veganism was caused by the movie Babe. He bonded with the animal cast and decided he couldn’t eat them anymore.
Sucks for the workers where a millionaire tried to destroy their business
I must have missed the news report of Starbucks getting destroyed after having made that simple change to their pricing. Did their stores get vaporised by Big Milk or something?
Bad take when trying to defend a billionaire…

Mitch was so much taller than everyone around him, you could always see him coming.
Boo…
Mitch!!
Hans! Bringt to mir meinen Cumsteinen!
You’ve heard of Frankenstein’s monster. Just wait until you see the monstrosity Cumstein created.
How tall was Bob hope
Brilliant. Someone in Game Ops getting fired for that.
I always read that Peter the Great was 6’8” - 6’10”. I guess he too had to have his listed height changed after getting measured for the ABS zone in the offseason.
A flute with no holes is not a flute. A donut with no hole is a danish.
Hey! How about a fresca?
Thank you for clarifying who Aaron judge is
-TJtheShizz (random pirates fan on reddit)
Crouchy, pass the pod
I feel sorry for Mitch and I don’t even know him.
For some reason I’m thinking about this scene from Curb
And me!!!
bro forgot nikita pavlychev
lol I’m at a PGA event and for the rest of the day I’m going to introduce myself as Mitch Cumstine
Mitch is a pretty good night putter.
Crouchie’s having his nachos!
Great roommate!
Is he related to Dr. Rosenrosen?
Nick Mullen truly is/was one of the most influential people of the last 10 years.
Mitch Cumstein, really
My favorite “James Cromwell is tall” moment was during Star Trek: First Contact.
Last scene, Riker is looking up at the guy to give him a pep talk. Riker never had to crane his head up all through Star Trek: TNG
That’s a deep cut reference
Do you take drugs, Danny?
Some poor intern probably gets fired for this, and that’s so unjust
How do you not even have Lamelo Ball? the origin story of 6-7….
Bryce Eldridge erasure
That’s an unfortunate last name… I mean who can live up to “Great”, talk about a burden.
CUMSTAIN
I would absolutely be changing my last name if it was Cumstein, holy shit
Or starting an OF.
Nice last name Mitch
Also my dad can be added to this list
Caddyshack shoutout!
It’s hard for people in their fifties and sixties to accept, but Caddyshack has aged very poorly.
It’s got a few classic scenes with Murray, Chase, Dangerfield and Knight but the there’s an hour of teenage caddy stuff that drags.
I loved it when I first watched it as a kid. Watched it again maybe 2 or 3 years ago and… yeah. Any part that didn’t have Rodney Dangerfield or Chevy Chase was beyond boring.
Tragic last name
Mitch must have been leaving loads all over the damn place to get a name like that
No chance bro’s last name is Cumstein. That’s brutal.
It’s a joke from Caddyshack
Haha Cum Stain
It’s 7⁄6 though…
You’re a month ahead of us
