Rarely does a celeb death etc make me feel some sort of way becuase I don’t have any connection to them but Stacy . He’s a hometown staple. He’s name is synonymous with bulls games. People tuned in to listen to him as much as watch the bulls his color commentary was infectious. He made a unwatchable bulls franchise for the better part of his tenure a watchable team. You would tune it for Stacy’s commentary as much as the game

Bulls fan or not today we lost a legend in the nba world . You couldn’t hate this man if you tried he was joyous humble kind and had an infectious energy. He would stop and talk to you if you saw him in real life outside of games he would talk to fans before and after games even on his stroller towards the end Stacy never put himself above regular fans. As a Knicks fan now living in Chicago, I watched many games he called, followed him on socials, and had a few brief interactions with him at United Center for games. He was always friendly, welcoming and entertaining, even to a visiting team fan. Having talked with many Bulls fans, it’s clear how much he was loved. He was a tremendous ambassador for Chicago and the Bulls, and I’ll miss his voice and his presence in the community. RIP Stacey.

Much has been said about what an outstanding broadcaster Stacey was, and deservedly so. But he was also a truly great man. To many of us Bulls fans, he was a role model during our formative years. His lack of ego in heaping praise onto opposing players when they deserved it taught us how to be humble. The Bulls drafted many busts over the years, and he would never speak negatively about any of them; on the rare occasions that a Denzel Valentine or a Patrick Williams made a good play, he almost seemed more excited than if it had been a star player. It was obvious just how badly he wanted to see everyone fulfill their potential.

It’s a strange thing to say about a celebrity who you’ve never met, but when you listen to someone talk for 60-70 nights a year over the course of 15 years, you do get a sense of who they are at their core, and Stacey King was empathetic, sincere, and kind. There are generations of Chicagoans who grew up to be better people because of the example he set.

Brought so much joy every freaking day. Elevated big moments. Kept hope alive during bad moments. Always had a fair take and good criticism for all the hype he also brought. Buzi Vert, Windy City Assassin, Hot Sauce, Jimmy G Buckets (the G stands for Gets), Bench Mob, Cardiac Bulls, soooo many good nicknames over the years.

Made me so happy whenever I’d click a Bulls highlight on r/nba and see other fanbases shouting out Stacey in the comments.

Man talk about some shitty news. I love hearing this dude commentate. When the new owners for the Lakers stepped I would tell myself “man hopefully they can throw some bags at a guy like Stacey King to bring some energy to the commentating”.

That’s really sad. Rest in peace. And I hope that his family is able to get through it together 

RIP Mr. King. I started watching back in 2011 when Rose was in his prime and some of those Stacey King calls were just as memorable as Rose’s dunks themselves. The NBA lost a great today.

When the team was consistently good, the hype was magnified by having his voice attached to it. On the flipside, some of the worst basketball our fanbase has had to sit through was easier to stomach because of his ability to not only make us laugh through the pain, but also provide insight and put the team’s struggles in a perspective that leveled with us and helped calm our nerves.

He exuded so much passion and authenticity, and his love for the fanbase could be felt in how he called games: he was always just one of us, regardless of the temperature around the team, and that’s exactly the energy he brought to every game that he called.

My heart goes out to the rest of Bulls nation, and to everyone who knew him personally. I’ve always hoped that the Bulls would eventually win another ring before I’d have to say this, but… drive home safely, big fella…💔
