Joe Mazzulla and Neemias Queta are in Portugal watching the Portuguese Basketball Championship Final, Benfica vs Porto. Benfica is Neemias Queta boyhood team.
Love that Joe will show up to anything that matters to his players.

But i was told that Joe’s a bad coach.
Poor Neemias. Was about to go on a great vacation and then his boss wanted to tag along.
I can certainly imagine that Neemi just watching the game by himself then suddenly Joe suddenly pops up beside him.
I dont know how haters can see this and still ask for Joes head
The discourse is so annoying. “Joe is amazing, how could anyone dislike him” “Boo, fire that man!”
Why does it have to be so extreme in both directions? I like Joe and I want him to stick around, he has a lot of great qualities as a coach, but he also did a horrible job in the playoffs the past two years.
In 3 out of the last 4 seasons we’ve pretty much lost to inferior opponents in the playoffs due to our stupid, soft play style. That’s why.
Edit: We had no business losing to the Heat in ‘23, the Knicks last year, or the Sixers this year.
Downvote all you want but you’re delusional if you think we lost any of those seasons because of talent disparity.
Yeah it’s not rocket science. Only time we won is when we had an insanely stacked roster
How many teams have won a championship without a stacked roster?
lol for real
You’re moving the goal posts. We did not lose in the finals to prime OKC. We lost to Philly in the first round, Knicks in the second, or Heat in the ECF.
People aren’t mad about 23, 25, and 26 because the Celtics didn’t win a championship btw. All they had to do was lose to a team better than them, and nobody would have a problem with Joe.
I think the problem is that Celtics fans constantly overrate the team and also jump to blame the coach for any loss. It feels like people would only be okay if we lost against prime MJ or something, and even then there’d be plenty of fans blaming Joe instead of acknowledging the limitations of our roster. Just look at this year for instance, we were trying to guard Embiid with a mix of Queta (who would foul every other possession), Vuc, and Garza
Thank you. Not sure why I’m getting downvoted like crazy
We were winning that series against the Heat if Tatum didn’t get injured seconds into game 7. I’m also not convinced the other losses were against inferior opponents. We were beat up against the Knicks and now they’re also two wins away from winning the Finals this season. Sixers were a horrible matchup for us once they got Embiid back.
The truth is winning a championship is really hard and most teams flame out eventually, sometimes to slightly inferior teams. We haven’t seen any repeat champions since the KD warriors for a reason
How come no one mentions that in each of those losses our best player got injured?
Fall River loving this
And New Bedford and all of eastern RI 😅
Neemi is a Benfiquista? Knew he was a good dude
He even played 2 games for them back in 2018

As a Portuguese dude I just want the team to win the wc finally, just worried about the attack
A true players’ coach
“I was recently in Europe and learned about this new coaching technique called ‘taking a time out’”
It’s no wonder his players play hard for him and the Celtics. He’s got that part down pat.
He really needs to work on his X’s and O’s though and philosophy.
This is so cool to see, shoutout Joe
Benfica won, by the way.
setting up the Portugese Pipeline
pass the platter of Chaurice please
Portugal is his first stop in europe before meeting up with giannis
Joe really gives a shit about the players. Love this.
Joe must think they’re dumb asses for not spaming 3s
Ironically, Benfica does spam a lot of 3s. And it usually works out well for them. They’ve been Portuguese champions in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. Right now, they’re beating Porto by 25 in the third quarter.
Yeh Benfica put a lot of money on things beside futebol (even being a Sporting fan i can respect that). On my club they cut 2 millions for others modalities… its just sad if you understand the diference of salarys between for exemple futsal on the 2 teams.
The reality is the only sport who survive in this small country is Football.
Ah, so that’s why Joe is there
It only worked out for Joe when he had the super team with the easy path in 2024, otherwise Joe gets exposed in the playoffs and loses to inferior opponents the Celtics are favored against
“EVERYONE STAND STILL ON THE 3PT LINE N JACK 3S” - Joe Mazzulla
Bitter ass mf holy fuuuck
He didn’t want Neemias to ballon up 30 pounds on that home cooking.
Joe will show up for anything except Celtics postseason basketball.
This is where Joe excels, connecting with the younger guys, encouraging their development, and guiding their careers. I think he has far more difficulty interacting with the accomplished veterans. I don’t get the sense JB pays him any mind whatsoever, and while JT seems to be more willing to alter his game to pursue a Mazzula introduced strategy/tactic, he still falls into iso ball far too easily. It was especially painful to watch Joe’s little man/imposter syndrome take over in regards to Vucevic, an accomplished veteran, who was obviously washed, but still had to be given minutes because of who knows why. I imagine it has to be a real struggle for him, having been essentially gifted, not earned, one of the preeminent jobs in his field, having “employees” that ignore you, being given new “employees” mid season who can’t get with the program because their days as an athlete are over. Joe has impressed me with his work with the young, up and coming role players, but he needs help with others parts of his job.
Getting ready for next year’s sweet second round exit
Poor guy has to watch portuguese basketball.
