[Jomboy Media] Jacob Misiorowski had no interest in coming out of this game
Shades of Scherzer on this one. Love the competitiveness.
And Mike Mussina! 💪 I love moments like this. The manager knows he’s got a DAWG 😅
“Damn bro OK.” Joe Torre probably.
I feel like Mussina has become underrated over the years. He didn’t have overpowering or flashy stuff, but he painted the corners, knew how to get into hitters’ heads, and was an absolute dawg.
That knuckle curve too.
I loved Mussina.
Favorite pitcher growing up even though he was on the Yankees.
Can’t be that underrated when you’re literally in the Hall of Fame.
He’s in the same boat as JRam where he’s brought up as underrated so often that he’s now properly rated lol
I would have said that about Moose 10-15 years ago for sure but not now
Hell yeah Moose!
Not nearly unhinged enough to make that comparison.
But I was told he looked like he was ready to throw hands
He looked like a 14 year old trying to convince his dad to let him stay out past midnight.
“No no no no no no”
In the dugout of game 5 of the 2015 WS, Matt Harvey, who admittedly absolutely dominated KC for 8 innings, lobbied and won the right to go back out for the 9th. He promptly gave up a walk and a double, was pulled, KC tied the game, then won it (and the series) in extras.
Yeah he’s got that same kinda crazy eye thing going on when he’s locked in. If he figures out the command he’s gonna be a problem.
From Mad Max to Mad Miz
Bro backed it up too. 💪
Dude was straight up dealing. Love seeing that kinda fire from a young arm.
Reminded me of snell last year.
Difference is a younger pitcher vs an older pitcher. Good on the manager for going with his gut.
Every 5th game
Man it may sound bad as a Cubs fan, but just as a true baseball fan in general I love watching Miz and I hope he continues to shove. Except against my team of course lol.
We’re just a couple of sick pups. I’m in the exact same camp, I love watching him pitch. Don’t give a damn about the Jersey.
You are right. It does sound bad.
Cant wait for PCA to take him deep
You know what? I ship it. How can you not be romantic about baseball?
I would legitimately be impressed. Miz has given up one extra base hit since April 19
Man’s built different. Bro would rather throw 150 pitches than let a reliever touch the mound
I’M NOT FUCKING LEAVING!
Rational Miz
Dog levels are off the charts.
Man’s out there throwing 99 in the 9th with runners on and still barking at the dugout. Absolute menace.
Kid looked legitimately ready to throw hands at his manager if he stepped out of the dugout
For real, you could see him gripping that ball like it was a weapon the whole time. I’d pay good money to see a 6’7” pitcher square up with a manager mid-game.
No he didn’t.
Bro the level of salt in this comment made me audibly laugh
Where in the video did he look like a mad max maniac or a John Lackey? He looked pretty calm but firm to me. For some reason though Reddit loves two things: exaggerating a video and talking about how they would absolutely beat this person up or that person up if this person or that person ever tried doing that thing they’re doing in that video to this person to them.
You just don’t get it. Mis is clearly ready to chokeslam Murph the second he takes a single step up those stairs. You can’t read lips? That’s what he says. “Imma chokeslam you old man. Better not come get me or you’ll get chokeslammed.”
New copypasta
Well his trainer didn’t tell him to use it but you can tell he was ready to unleash his rage attack and it would’ve been very effective
So the other Pokemon trainer backed down
[deleted]
? Mis looks composed the whole time. He just shook the coach off. He didn’t look mad and certainly didn’t look made enough to punch anybody. Brewers fans are getting weird about this. Not sure why you want him to fight your coach but you do you.
I wasn’t sure this kid was it last season but damn he’s got something
Even as a brewers fan last season he was doing well, but lacked a lot of control.
This year he’s killing it. No questions. Awesome to watch.
How does he throw so hard!! Those arms are noodles. Straight crazy
You generate power in your lower half, don’t skip leg day kiddos
The pirouette finish definitely adds something too! Launches his entire torso outward with his arm, and the shoulders nearly dip lower than his hips!
Incredible athleticism
Essential for power bottoms.
Now, see, you’ve got it all backwards. You see, a power bottom is a bottom that is capable of receiving an enormous amount of power.
Exactly, catching not pitching, ironically enough
I thought it was all about speed
I’ve heard speed has something to do with it
His height and delivery is a big factor. IIRC there was a post a few weeks ago about how he ends up closer to the hitter than any other pitcher in baseball in his delivery and that keeps his velo higher as it crosses the plate.
I doubt I explained that accurately but that’s part of it.
His release height is also freakishly low to the ground due to being so far down the mound.
Dudes a human trebuchet
Obviously he has insane extension but they’ve talked about the added muscle to his lower body. I think he has great energy transfer and form from his legs.
Some of the power punch guys in MMA (and probably boxing too but I don’t watch boxing) are the more lanky looking guys without any crazy looking muscles. Not all of them, some of them do look like balls of muscles, but some of them like Gaethje don’t have huge arms. Best example I can think of is Sean O’Malley.
I don’t know why, probably because in physics force comes from mass, velocity, and acceleration, so probably some of the noodle arm guys get a lot of velocity and acceleration from the leverage of their long arms and being able to accelerate them faster because their arms aren’t that heavy.
It’s weird and awesome
It’s a gift. There’s no other explanation.
It’s why John Daly can mash drives, Usain Bolt can run faster than any human, NFL kickers and Premier League keepers can kick the ball 80 yards. You either have it or you don’t.
People say someone has a big arm, but power comes from the lower body
Damn, this is how you win the trust of your teammates and manager.
That’s the best manager in the game building the confidence of a young player and turning him into a leader.
All for show… But it won’t be forgotten by anyone on the team.
Miz has the skill to back it up. There’s a lot of pitchers that have that confidence but lack the skill.
Until he blows his arm out and misses the playoffs. A manger should be prioritizing the long term goals of the team while balancing the accomplishments of the player. I don’t think anyone doubted be could get the Rockies out through 7
He threw 7 pitches after this and ended with a total of 98 pitches in the game
Ah, here comes the standard “he’ll get injured!” comment on every post about Mis.
Well this post is about Mis preventing his manager from pulling him for load management reasons. You should expect it in this scenario.
“Load management” he was in a jam and Murphy was going to send in someone because it was a high leverage situation. This was not load management
He was at his limit. Murphy was going to pull him from pitch count reasons, if either of those last two get on, they pull him because he’s at his limit, not because he can’t get the bottom of the Rockies lineup out.
“Load management?” You think they would have sent him back out for the 7th if this was about load management?
They let him go 90+ or so pitches. They sent him out hoping he can finish before his limit, but just plan on taking him out if he reaches his pitch count.
And what was that pitch count?
Yeah I think taking out a 103 mph pitcher after 90 pitches is smart move by the manager, no need to have him go 100+. All it takes is one time getting injured and then 2 years off for him.
Such a cool moment.
he’s beginning to believe
98th pitch at 101 😯
That’s awesome. He got an unnecessary target put on him after being named an all star last year but it’s awesome to see him prove that he’s the real deal.
This is what competing looks like folks…with that said I think Miz might’ve choked Murph if he took another step
Mouths “It’s the Rockies, Murph”
He’s a workhorse with elite talent
He reminded me so much of Corbin Burnes in that moment. Absolutely insane that Mis is younger than Burnes was at his peak and is seemingly even better.
Gotta love the manager who trusts his guys.
101mph strikeout on his 98th pitch?? Ffs
This guy scares the hell out of me.
👑
Kids a beauty
DAWG. I fucking love it.
The fact that hes been honest with coaches when he can’t go deeper probably gives him more leeway when he tells them he can
He’s the opposite of Jeff Hoffman
Geoff Honman
I’m not even a fan of Brewers but let Miz do whatever the fuck he wants to do, like Ohtani, if he says he can do it, let him do it. You don’t question Excellence.
He looks 12.
When you face the Rockies it’s like facing a AA team.
He can’t keep up this level of velocity right? He’s bound to blow out his arm sooner or later.
I know it’s electric right now but for the good of his career maybe he should pull back a little bit
He’s probably better off throwing all these hard fastballs instead of breaking pitches
Ask Jacob DeGrom (or gerrit cole before him)…he’s the prototype for max effort every pitch.
Pitching coach said this isn’t full effort for the Miz and that he could prob hit 105
But they always like to hype up their guys have to take it with a grain of salt lol
It is interesting how much his velocity dropped as the game went on. The fastball was about 2mph slower in the 7th than in the first 3 innings.
Although to be fair it is nice when “gutting it out” is still above 100mph.
Was this before he hit Tyler Freeman in the head?
After. This is his last inning.
Guy is such a stud. It would be absolutely wild if his arm holds up over time.
Would also welcome him into the evil empire.
