More than one…tired of seeing Brown actually standing up to opposing players on stuff and no one has his back. Love the team, but want the energy of not just taking cheap shots from opposing teams and being good with it.so pair JB up with a Stewart, Portis or some kind of enforcer out there.

Oh I think he would be a great addition, he does have a 7’4 wingspan which really helps mitigate him being “only” 6’8. He’s just more of a 4 than a 5

We know this better than anyone. Robert Williams is “short” because he has almost no neck. But he obviously has the body and wingspan and standing reach to be a center. Beef Stew isn’t quite as extreme in his proportions but it’s similar logic.

Ehhh he can shoot threes relative to someone like Queta, but there are no indications that he can really shoot. Low attempts per 100, bad % and mediocre FT%.

Yes and no. Stewart is a capable shooter (34% over his career; peak at 38% on 3.8 attempts per game in 2024. But his release is slow so he needs space/time to get the shot off and isn’t a much of a threat to pop after the screen. So not quite as ready to fire as Horford but not loading up the Amir Johnson catapult either.

As for his size, Stew has a massive 7’4 wingspan and listed at 250 pounds. Opponents have a better fg% in the paint against Wembenyama than Stewart. Rebounding numbers have been okay, but artificially reduced by playing so many minutes with plus-rebounders in Duren, Ausar, and Cade.

Have you heard of Luke Kornet or Neemias Queta? Not positive but I believe Mazzula played both of those guys.

Queta doesn’t shoot threes and meshes well enough into the offense. As much as it hasn’t proven so in the past, I hope we look to adapt and attack the rim at first attack, then look to kickout.

Also with the 6’8” comment, defense on Wemby and others is that height isn’t as valuable as an aggressor. What bigs are you worried about specifically? Embiid, Jokic, Davis, Bam?

Mostly Embiid, maybe Giannis if he ends up on another east team, Towns will be a problem. I don’t think the Heat are good enough as a whole for a run so Bam won’t be an issue. and whoever in the finals, be it Jokic, Chet (I know he’s been roasted to death lately but he’s still a good player when not matched up with a 7’4 Frenchman who hates him)

Yes. He isn’t much offensively, but he is an elite inside defender despite being undersized and with Duren coming up on max contract money potentially, Pistons will likely need to reconfigure some cap figures to fit him in. Beef Stew is a bit of a luxury item for them—though an excellent one on par with Naz Reid as far as overall impact—so I could see Pistons trading him for significantly less than Kessler or Giannis would go for.

Adding him and a quality guard who can defend faster guys would really be a way to build around the Jays again without sacrificing a significant amount of our future.

Beef Stew (if actually available) plus a playable combo guard is a decent (and realistic) offseason.

They’re going to try to stay under the tax another year to reset the repeater penalties so they can (hopefully) spend big in 2027, which means not a ton of money to work with this offseason.

Didn’t realize this was possible but I would absolutely love it. This is poor analysis, but I feel like we’re missing an edge on our team with nice guys like White, Tatum, and Hauser. We haven’t been a tough team for the past few years, and it’s a problem when the toughest guy is our coach.

Hauser for Stewart eases the Piston’s shooting issues while saving them $5 mil for a redundant player. Stew gives us the option to size up as a 4 or play backup 5 minutes. Scheierman can step into that Hauser role. Stewart has some higher volume shooting seasons at 4 attempts per game, so some spacing potential.

The more I think about it the more I get excited about it lol. Think we could become an elite level defensive team, with a slight step back on offense. He fits the ethos of the team this past year as a bunch of hard playing guys
