There was a period of time in I think mercenaries or keepers in poe1 where the mapping device’s incentory meant for holding maps would actually let you use currencies on strongboxes essences etc. everyone I know loved it and then they said it’s a bug and fixed it.
Well, it was a bug, as in it was not intended behavior. This means that it very likely had all sorts of loopholes that could be abused, as no intended restrictions, limits, or error handling was set up for it. Obviously that should be fixed.
They should make it an intended feature though. Do it properly, and really as soon as possible.
I mean I know it’s a bug I was still bummed out and wish they would’ve just added it, made some strats so much nicer to do.
They wanted map portals to have a cost of taking stuff into/out of the map and then went and made it so you can enter/exit a map infinitely in PoE2 as long as you don’t die lol.
I personally absolutely hate this mechanic. It was cool and unique back then, but today it’s so obsolete.

Big enough that currency isn’t an issue. So, like, the post itself? I don’t give a rats ass about the inventory size for gear, but having to dump into my stash every five minutes is annoying as shit. I’m not even at maps yet and the first twelve squares on my inventory are always filled up with currency.
Not being able to do an ascendancy trial without hitting my stash is just dumb. Again I’m not at maps and I don’t have a loot filter because I need my gold, but the overall point remains through endgame. Currency taking up your inventory is dumb at this point. And so far it’s three times as bad with POE2 as it was with POE.
make the player inventory fit about 4x what It currently can, allow us to access currency from the stash during map events. That’s all

1 square becomes 4 squares, occupying the same pixel area as before. In other words, exactly the same thing they did for the quad stash tab is what I’m asking for the player inventory. Genuine question - do you actually not see how increasing the number of square for a given tab of effectively unlimited tabs is different to changing the number of squares in the single player inventory tab and why one has gameplay implications and the other does not?

My point is that the UI aspect of this change I’m proposing is solved and already in use. It works and nobody complains about it.
Now the questions are, why not apply this 1to4 UI grid in the player inventory as well? More importantly, how would the game suffer/become worse if players had more inventory space in their characters? Because I can’t see any negative points to this change.

Quarterstaffs and any bows with T2 Inc Phys have netted me 6-15 divines each.
It’s up to you if this is worth the time picking up, Id’ing and aug’ing ofc, but damn it feels good when you hit. I actually really dislike that it works like this because I waste so much fucking time Id’ing and lightly crafting stuff. My loot filter is pretty damn strict too, Uber Strict with a lot of customisations.
Rings and necklaces especially are fat.
I sold a Vile chest with T1 spirit and no other mods for 6 divines. Rings with flat damage are dope, you can either essence craft and exalt slam, or sell as is.
35% MS speed boots on good bases (hybrid es/ev or ES) can go for 2-4 divs depending on second mod.
Honestly, I don’t even check rares all that much, even t5. They just feel a bit shit. Magic bases and perfect transmuting white bases are where the money is at.
Legit, I don’t know how else you’re supposed to make actual usable money. Currency doesn’t drop in a reasonable enough quantity for the average player when some upgrades can be 40+ divines.

I started playing this week and even though I’m still only in act 3 it feels like all I’m doing every 50 metres is port back to town to identify, salvage and sell. I’m hoping this isn’t as pronounced going forward when I start hiding loot but my god the inventory space is just absurd. At least let me rotate items so that I can at least play this stupid Tetris game.
At some point, you have to learn how to prioritize gear and just leave the bulk of it on the ground. Loot filters help with this.

But regarding rotating items I have also though about that ever since playing Tarkov. It’s kinda stupid that we can’t rotate items in Poe or D2
Honestly, salvaging and selling is mostly a waste of time in the campaign, outside of socketed items and flasks to get Artificer Orbs and Glassblower Baubles. You don’t need very good gear to finish the campaign, and you’ll start getting a lot more crafting currency in the endgame. When I first started playing I was doing the same thing as you, and once I got to the end game, I realized how much time I’d wasted salvaging a bunch of gear in the campaign. Now during the campaign, I just pick up rares my class can use and if my inventory is full, I just stop picking up new gear and wait to salvage/sell until I’m already going back to town to turn in a quest.
by act 3 you should really only be ID’ing rares and even then only ones that could use an upgrade. You can also bulk buy wisdom scrolls at vendors so you can just ID and drop if it’s bad. But I’d avoid picking up anything gear wise that isn’t usable by you.

only pick up rares that are 2x2 or 1x2, gloves/helm/boots/jewelry unless you’re looking for a specific larger item (wep chest etc) for your build
Vendor them for $ Check vendors for good shops every time you’re in town (changes every time you level up)

Loot filter makes all of this drastically easier, filterblade’s default one will more than serve you without any changes
It’s unnecessary, unless you’re intentionally salvaging for a specific reason - like transmutes, or whatever. If you’re actually looking for an upgrade to an item slot, you only really need to pick up one or two base types. Identify quickly with a scroll and drop if it’s bad, then move on.
Once you know how to prioritize drops you only have to go back to town once, twice at most. By the sounds of it you’re picking up borderline everything, which is pretty much the opposite of what you’re gonna be doing once you get used to it some more.
all other modern ARPGs have configurable “stash all” buttons.

Because GGG fixed them to separate stash. For reasons. Mainly asking people to buy another specialised stash. (Which is not something bad, it’s their business model.)
Also in PoE1 tablet-like items have changed multiple times over time, so tablets here might be changed down the line as well.
Yeah. In PoE1, the tablet equivalent is scarabs which go in the fragment tab. Youāre right that they may end up changing tablets in the future. Thatās probably the main reason it is on the fragment tab.
If GGG was more greedy, they easily could have separated the fragment tab into three different tabs.
Not just scarabs, previous iteration of tablets was working similar to sextants. It is very unlikely though for them to switch from fragments tab to something else, as it would be very unfriendly for people who already bought fragments tab.
Let’s not pretend what they didn’t do isnt greedy and fantasize a scenario where it can be worse.
Than monetization conversation loses a lot of weight when PoE2 has an entry cost right now.
I dunno if Iām missing something but the QoL I want the most for mapping is the ability to make your map device big like you can in PoE1. Itās so small and it constantly uses portals from the backside of the device first, so you have to try and click past a portal to hit the device to load a new map.
It feels like an attempt to get you to buy an MTX device but in PoE1 the shift between small and large device was free
I just want a sort button and a quick transfer to storage button for all currency etc besides gear. Bonus points if you can customize it.

It’s not impossible, just much harder to actually pull off, and, for better or worse, there’s always an aspect that is lost.
The poe 1 lab would be one example. Both through powercreep and QoL changes, just about every aspect of it has been reduced to present the player with the least resistance possible, and now the final lab is both incredibly easy to acquire/unlock and to complete. It’s an empty shell of its former self.
Obviously i’m not arguing that every bit of QoL is evil, that’d be silly. But it’s not exactly a trivial matter either.
I mean yeah of course, thatās why I wrote GOOD QoL not as much QoL as possible. The Quality of Life itself also has to be of good quality

I guess I can see what you mean but I think the game has so much identity already, the QoL stuff like a currency pouch or a stash all currency buttown wouldnāt impact that at all. They already added a lot of QoL like in game trade, in game build planner, refund skills with gold, gold as a currency, sprint, gem system etc. All these things are only a positive and I think if you ask most people, it didnāt take away itās identity.
Edit: these changes also add to POE1 and 2 feeling pretty different despite having the same core gameplay. You can appriciate both for what they are IMO
idk its a slippery slope. Look at D4. theres all the QoL in the world, and yet the items and progression systems seem bland and boring. I’m much happier with less QoL and a more immersive game

But itās not the QoL fault for that. If they add more QoL into poe itās not gonna make the progression and items boring, thereās basically zero correlation between the two. So why canāt there be an immersive game with good QoL as well?
I’m not completely in disagreeance with the concept that qol spam can make a game worse, but that’s definitely not the case in d4. QoL in d4 has absolutely nothing to do with its item progression system design. Literally just look at the public opinion of d4 over time, people hated it when it came out and this latest season was very well received even by PoE gamers.
That being said, I do agree that some things would be too far. Auto pickup currency would be too far, small radius area where you pick up the same currency type when you click would be hand strain reduction.
I’d say that d4’s system of every item being the same size is absolutely a QoL change aimed at inventory management, but it does take away from the items themselves.

Never going to happen, to either idea. GGG actually wants you to make a choice of keeping currency in your inventory during mapping or not.
Chris Wilson just posted a video of him playing a mod for D2 that includes an expanded inventory and he said he’s not sure he likes it as the timing of when you needed to go back to town was important. I know he’s not with the company anymore, but the design philosophy is definitely shared by GGG.

That is the choice do you take everything in and ID and all that shit in the middle of the map or do you want those extra like five slots so you can fit another piece of gear in there that is the choice that they want to force. Like think about this you have to click on the fucking well to refill your flasks, when they could just make them refill When you entered town or your hideout. Instead you have to actually qalk over and click on it.

In poe1 you have to spend ādefensive layerā to tp back and forth and there are only 6 entry to map. In poe2 in doesnāt matter now, you can take out every single piece of trash from floor of you want to.

Omg, Iāve been asking for this since 0.1! As a controller player, I canāt emphasize enough how incredibly frustrating moving currency around in the inventory currently is.
The currency pouch would save so much time on maps. Right now you’re constantly running back to stash or juggling stuff around just to pick up drops, and it kills the flow of actually playing the game. Even just a small dedicated section that auto-collects currency would be massive.
If your on trade league and are TPing back to hideout more than once per map you need to make your filter more strict.
I would love a ādeposit all currencyā button as well. And it could even omit the currency pouch you suggested.

Not sure why POE2 didn’t implement the small map/currency tab for map device from poe1. It’s great to roll maps and set them there waiting so you can just rapid fire them.

it doesnt work for generic things like ‘gear’ only items classed to events like ritual / abyss or that have an associated premium tabs (maps / gems / uniques / fragments etc)
I enjoy this game but the quantity of items, the superficially low stack limits so you but more tabs suck big time.

I said this last night while playing with friends, and one of them, a PoE1 beta vet, said “Why, just use your inventory”, and it kinda pissed me off, because we already have an inventory that’s 5 rows instead of 6, and an even amount of columns, so no matter which way you stack currency when mapping you end up with weird gaps.
The pouch is the easiest fix, adding an extra row would be better imho, and at the very list, one more column.

Having to juice individual boxes and essences is a level of micromanaging that holds no appeal to me. Espically with how much of endgame is map and tablet management already.

Iām more annoyed about the amount of different currencies that drop from this game. Do we really need a different abyss currency that desecrates weapons, jewelry, and armor? Iām sure it gets better over time, and I should just leave some currency but it hurts my gamer brain to do that.
Just let our currency from the stash be used. It’s so frustrating having to make sure we have currency for Essences/Boxes in our inventories even though we have it in our stashes.
Little Pouch ? Just give us a BIG POUCH and MORE Inventory tabs , ffs, so many new diferent typs of currency, wanting to identify bases, wanting to Transmut and Augment, Runing 2 diferent sets of Tablets, its getting real tiresome so much inventory management!
By FAR the worst part about trying to engage with strongboxes. Just bizzare how this is still a mechanic you have to deal with by carrying around 5 inventory slots at all times.
Yeah, I think they should add a new item slot. Called ābagslotā. Iām fine if bags drop with different inventory slots and you need to roll it to get the perfect 10 extra item slots. And fine with it being for currency items only.

What’s wrong with the normal inventory?
My enjoyment of the game is greatly enhanced by the fact that I can only pick up a few body armours or 2h weapons before my inventory is full. It makes the game feel so much more realistic to me. Also the fact that I bump into things constantly, have momentum so I have to slow down before I can change directions, and that I get pushed around by monsters really helps immerse me in the world.
Having a currency pouch would further add to my immersion in this highly realistic world as this is clearly something that every person would have. Every time I look at my inventory and see currency spread around all over the place instead of being organized in a money pouch it takes me right out of the world and makes me realize I’m just playing a game. This really needs to be fixed.

Ehh… stash tabs are pretty power increasing - you couldn’t even make tabs public for a while without them being a premium stash tab so your stuff wouldn’t be listed on the trade site until you forked over some $$ so…yeah I’m not going to say “first” here…
Nah that is entirely different. If you play without trading which is 100% viable you would not be at an disadvantage. You would in all cases be at disadvantage without bought inventory slots compared to everyone else.
This would be pay for convenience like a stash tab. Having to back to sort store and sell one less time per 3 maps is just a slight convenience upgrade that saves you a few minutes per play session. What’s actually pay for power and is already in the game is trade, premium tab required. A new player without trade could spend 30 exalts trying to craft a good weapon over and over again, and still not hit as good of rolls as can be bought for 1 exalt on the market by a premium tab owner. Don’t get me wrong I’d be happy to receive this feature for free, but I think trade is way more impactful and is already pay walled.
