I went back and looked at other years with teams that rivaled this efficiency on offense, and the 21-22 Nets, 19-20 and 20-21 Jazz, 20-21 Blazers, and 16-17 Cavs all had bottom half defenses. The 20-21 Clippers defense was 8th and they made a conference finals, cut short by the Kawhi injury but maybe that was their year if they stay healthy. And then the 2016-17 Warriors were 60.8% TS with the 2nd best defense, clearly dominant.

I mean these numbers were bound to happen with them blowing teams out night after night and 13 wins in a row, but it’s crazy that by the numbers, the only team that’s rivaling them on both ends is the 2017 Warriors dominance. They’ve managed to stay efficient through the playoffs which is incredibly rare. I think Anunoby and Towns have the highest TS% of all time for players who average over 10 PPG. Just everyone getting hot at the right time to sustain Brunson’s poor shooting (when he hasn’t even been that bad in the totality of the playoffs)

What’s even crazier is the Spurs are right there in these games. Look at the numbers that Bridges, Anunoby and KAT are shooting. This has some 2023 ECF energy where the better team on paper is just blowing close games to unsustainable shooting. But the thing is, when you put yourself in a hole, sometimes it’s too late to climb out of it. I’m afraid this one’s probably over, and the Spurs are going to look back and regret the way they closed those first 2 games and it cost them a championship.

Franz has potential. He’s good now but he could be better with a different offensive system and playing with Tatum, White, and Pritchard. He’s also 24 and signed for four more years.

Mo is a useful big who will cost more than Garza but whatever. He’s better than Thansis and while he needs a S&T, there’s roster and tax room. Brothers are fun.

I also believe that just because someone won one championship with one of the most stacked teams of all time doesn’t automatically make him a good coach, because nobody in their right mind would say Doc Rivers was ever a good coach.

Bam Adebayo for D White, Hauser and picks would be a good trade. The Heat could probably then flip D white for 1-2 more frp. But the Heat never wanna rebuild so I don’t see them doing this. But Jays plus Bam makes us so much better.
