[Highlights] All the 23 fouls committed by the New York Knicks in Game 2 vs. the San Antonio Spurs.
Including the technical foul by Mitchell Robison that was later rescinded. Including replays of the plays whenever available.
The fouls don’t really matter in isolation, it’s how completely different a whistle it was simultaneously for the Spurs.
refs really didn’t want knicks to go up 2-0 on the road, and it still happened lmao
Tony brothers almost got there but spurs choked the gift
*league
Yeah. Like sure you can say these are fouls, but San Antonio absolutely got away with egregious amounts of contact in G1 and 2
It’s the inconsistency, which I’m not surprised because Foster and Brothers are both notorious home whistle guys, but it’s never less annoying
He was definitely on our side this game.
To your point and funnily enough Spurs fans think he (Brothers) screwed us over in a game in the WCF in OKC.
In a game that also had a kinda crappy tech call.
I’ll get downvoted for it again but I’ll say it another time; Welcome to the Western conference finals.
The Spurs had such a generous whistle in the series the only thing that makes sense is Silver saying, “we need Wemby in the finals so get it done.” And the Thunder still took them to 7 without their 2nd or 3rd option (and Chet absolutely disappearing).
i was not watching that carefully but was wemby “screening” like this the whole time in that series? because holy shit lmao
YES. It’s infuriating that he pushes off when he’s as big as he is.
Like Stephon Castle was allowed to hold and grab constantly and essentially play football, but breathing on a Spur was a foul
Breathing on their hair bro
Castle really pisses me off because he plays hard as fuck defense the entire game and then gets all whiny when a team retaliates with a hard foul on him
Not only that, at the offense too, he was physical with defenders
Refs are always miss some calls and in the playoffs are going to allow extra physicality, but if the Knicks were called for a foul for every two fouls they actually committed, the Spurs were called for one of every twelve. It was insane to see.
Wembanyama should be in foul trouble three minutes into the game every game, as he gives a very egregious push with every screen he sets. It’s actually kinda comical because he’s so tall that to push that hard and maintain balance he has to crouch and it looks kinda silly (and it’s also very easy to spot), but in the last two series I think they’ve called that foul just one time.
And as other people are pointing out, it wasn’t just the fouls.
Right.
These are all technically fouls.
But the thing with a Brothers game is he’ll often let the teams absolutely mug each other until one team says something that bruises his ego. And the game gets completely out of control.
Then one team gets to still mug while the other team gets totally random ticky tack fouls while also still being able to mug sometimes, leading to that team becoming incredibly frustrated and not knowing how to play. He’ll also give all the 50⁄50 calls to the team who didn’t bruise his ego.
It’s a basketball mindfuck. And the Knicks needed the Spurs to play young to win that because every team needs help when Tony is on one.
Castle made his cute little “usually I’m wrong and the refs are usually right” comments while the Knicks went after the refs in the previous game so Tony had to teach them. 😂
The only reason it didn’t get completely chaotic is because both teams don’t seem to have any animosity against each other.
Tbf the spurs are playing a lot smarter defense after coming off that series with okc, they got a master class in not over reaching and what the refs will allow bc OKC had the softest whistle imaginable. Knicks defense has been kind of sloppy, especially Hart.
Yeah. You watched a different series brother. Take off your torta-oil tinted glasses off and be fr.
I am being fr. Is this video supposed to be outrageous? I watched the game, I watch this video. They are literally all blatant fouls that always get called except for maybe one. Grabbing jerseys, swatting arms, and there’s a play where Hart grabs castles ankle. Unless you have never watched a game before none of this is crazy.
The MRob one direction tech that got rescinded, the Vassell and one for his hair, two quick fouls on KAT were pretty blatantly (both how late and soft the defensive foul call was and how the tony brothers didn’t have the angle on the offensive one, not to mention the defender hooked him first)
Most egregious of all is the OG 3 point attempt that wasn’t called until they challenged with Tony brothers right there
Again, the calls weren’t as bad as you all are pretending
It’s not just a bogus fouls. They called a phantom back court against us in the first half. They called 2 fouls against KAT within a minute of each other to knock him out of the game. They gave Mitch a technical when it was clearly both of them responsible for whatever ever happened..
The refs tried to throw this game, it was obvious. Fuck them
That Mitch “technical” even had the announcers confused. It made absolutely no sense.
And I guess it was easiest to miss, but kornet gathering a ball with his foot was such a thing that is illegal in basketball lol. Like, once legler (I think pointed it out) that seemed like one of the worst (or maybe the hair one… wait and the Kat soft shoulder and Wemby flying…)
Yea, i’ll give the refs a pass on the Kornet kick because it’s hard to see with all those legs down there and in real time, I’m sure it was real quick. But there were so many other egregious calls that went against us, which just made no sense
Plus they are allowed to review at the end of the game. Did they nope
I’m going full tinfoil hat in this one, but after the WCF and this game, I fully believe the refs, specially Brothers, manipulate the game under Adam Silver’s orders. I can believe one ref is just shit, but there were games where they were almost blatantly trying to change the swing of the game one way or the other. like they’re trying to milk this shit.
And when I talk about WCF, I’m not saying this because OKC but they were shit from game 2 to 6. But very shitty and very inclined towards one way or the other, never super shitty both ways at the same time, if that makes sense.
Shit just feels more and more like the WWE with Silver trying to tilt things for the ratings and storylines.
It’s hilarious because Tony Brothers made that same phantom back court against the Spurs in the Thunder series because he doesn’t position properly and just assumes backcourt based off fan reaction instead of actually being in the backcourt to see where the ball is. This guy is an absolute buffoon
[removed]
regular season is not the same as the playoffs. we can tell you dont watch
When someone results to name calling, it’s a true mark of intelligence
Not even a good insult lol
You’re not worth coming up with a good one
Really? I wasn’t even the person who you were talking to. You can’t just come up with a quick zinger for me?
Okay, how about turd chugger? Idk man I’m tired
I’ll take it, thanks lol
The foul on him in defense against Wemby before the offense foul was bogus. Thats contact they let the Knicks play through
Grabbing jersey, hooking, all of harts fouls are obviously. The flagrant was a good call. I don’t see anything egregious, I think Knicks fans are being kind of Karens for how physical the Knicks are playing. Seems like you just want them to able to foul as much as they want with no whistle.
You’re telling me he fouled Harper? Watch the replay again. And if you think he did, watch it one more time bc you’re wrong. FOH
What’s the time stamp, I watched the video and except for one or two, they are all normally called fouls. Hooking, jersey pulls, tripping, arm swats. Nothing crazy happening in this game man, y’all are being Karens.
6:03-7:05 were the back to back calls on KAT
The defensive foul was so late and so soft
The offensive foul the defender grabbed/hooked him first; and the ref on the baseline that called it didn’t even have the angle (ofc it was Tony brothers)
As others have said, if you compared it to uncalled fouls the Knicks didn’t receive, which you’d need to watch the game for, it looks way worse
I watched the game, it wasn’t called 100% fair but it wasn’t outrageous. Some soft calls against spurs also but of course those are not getting shared bc Knicks are the current reddit darlings. It wasn’t nearly as bad as some playoff games, but if you are Knicks fan ofc you will feel upset. Just enjoy the win.
Watch the foul and then try to keep spouting this bullshit. You’ll only make yourself look stupid
I told you I watched the video
The number of fouls are absolutely dwarfed by the momentum of the fouls. Also, the Knicks shot FIFTEEN total free throws in a game that looked closer to football (if you don’t count the intentional hack-a-mitch, which if you’re arguing in good faith, you wouldn’t.) to the spurs 27.
This was 100% a hit job to extend this series and it failed while simultaneously being so egregious I don’t think anyone that watched the full game didn’t feel the blatantly intentional thumb on the scale Of this game.
6 of those 15 were also intentional fouls on mitch
And we had to use a challenge for three of them lol
So basically they gave us six foul shots the whole game
The 15 is excluding the mitch free throws so we had 21 in total actually. But yeah 15 w/o hack a mitch minus the 3 you mentioned we challenged for and its still 12 v 27 we actually earned. Which is still ridiculous given the way the game went
Also, the Knicks shot FIFTEEN total free throws in a game that looked closer to football (if you don’t count the intentional hack-a-mitch
no, they said the 15 were already discounting those
They added that after I responded lol
You could also exclude the three that OG took because they only happened due to a coach’s challenge.
Those OG free throws were the first of the 2nd half too lmao
If the whistle had been fair, the Knicks would’ve won by at least fifteen points. If the Knicks had had the Spurs whistle, they would’ve won by fifty and half the Spurs roster would’ve fouled out. The fact that they still won with Tony Brothers putting up a true legacy performance against them is ridiculous.
The issue isn’t that any of these aren’t fouls. Most technically are fouls. However, the Spurs were allowed to get away with the same things that the Knicks got called for and worse. So either they should’ve either also called the same stuff on the Spurs, or not called it on the Knicks for the sake of consistency.
Hear, hear. I just want to add the footnote that this is just a comp of the foul calls. This doesn’t include the egregious turnover calls and lack thereof (the phantom backcourt, the kickball, etc.). Truly the worst, most blatantly biased officiating I’ve seen since Suns-Spurs 2007.
Even Spurs fans were going, “What is this shit, here?” half the time.
It was outrageous
Would’ve been a Tony Brothers legacy game if not for the Knicks pulling through at the end.
HOW WAS THE FOX ONE at 1:50 NOT A DOUBLE DRIBBLE? Even discounting the sure offensive foul (Fox is hooking Hart’s arm and spinning around for god sake). But how do the refs miss that??
And then of course Fox gets the and 1 call. Horseshit sequence
Looks like deuce kinda fouled him before he picked up his dribble, but even so, that’s 3 missed calls in one possession (deuce foul, fox hook, fox double dribble)
Spurs trying to join the NFL next year
I’ll be honest I’m a casual that mostly watches soccer with an increasing interest in basketball over the years and I have no idea what is a foul. It seems like the slightest touch on defense (particularly against a star) is a foul and you can completely truck someone on offense legally
Basically yes
Sounds like you understand it about as well as anybody else. The way the modern NBA is officiated is a joke.
If I’m being honest, I don’t believe that the league cares so much about who wins as much as they care about managing the series to 2-2, ensuring 6 games.
The Scott Foster game was fair.
The Tony Brothers game was a series extender.
I want to believe it’ll be fair the rest of the way because this is bad bad press for the league
I think they care. They are adamant on expanding to Europe they have a game scheduled in Paris already and Wemby as the face would sell the league.
I dont think they wanna force them to win by any means and I think they wanna extend. But I definitely think they rather he won.
Luka to Lakers, Jokic mukti MVP with no defense. Giannis trade talks and previous MVPs. All these guys are great but they are selling them by force
Are we going to get the same kind if whistle on Monday or will they call it more fairly since we’ll be the home team?
It will be a blowout game for the Knicks as a little treat for Trump.
I love the timeline we’re in where people are mad that the New York City based team isn’t getting proper calls for them lol.
Knicks got absolutely hosed all of Game 2 yet still pulled it off. They would’ve easily won a fairly officiated game with the entire Spurs roster fouling out. People wouldve called the Spurs frauds if the Knicks had their whistle.
Did any analysts call out the terrible officiating? I haven’t heard it from analysts on ESPN. I wonder if they’re instructed not to criticize the league?
There were plenty of calls legs and RJ said “idk I don’t think that should’ve been called” during the game
Oh yeah, I remember that, just not post game. Like a lot have given the Spurs credit for thr comeback, like Mike Francesa and Windy, instead of acknowledging that the refs were trying to gift them a game.
Tony Brothers should be on a plane to Colombia right now.
Yeah! If you count spurs play with what they called foul and what they ignored, it would be 40+. I have never seen such a biased officiating finals in the recent past. Steph Castle runs with his hands stretched, about to catch any knicks player and drag. And he got away with most of them… It’s become a joke
This is plenty illuminating but would go even harder showing how much contact they allowed the spurs for their defense. Jalen should have like atleast 10 and1’s this series
25 fouls in the 1st half
other than the tech on Robinson and the offensive foul call against Towns, most of these are fouls and a few may or may not be fouls depending on how the game is called and how much leeway they give players. They were letting the Spurs be pretty physical on the other end, so those 3 or 4 foul calls should have been no calls from how the game was being called. Towns really got screwed here, the offensive foul call was egregious and the got a couple of barely any contact fouls called against him that based on how the game was called should not have been, but if you remove KATs terrible whistle, this was not actually all that bad, this may be more of a case of KAT getting a terrible whistle and he is so important to the Knicks this series that it makes it feel like the whistle is against the whole team, but Hart was out of control this game, none of his fouls were soft, and almost all of the other fouls were also legit.
KAT and the Robinson tech is where the issues are at.
I hate this place
Now give us all fouls commited by the Spurs, then we can compare and actually see if these Knicks complaints are valid
I don’t see anything crazy here, they are mostly blatant fouls. Even the tech, mitch shoves first Wemby pushed back then gets shoved in the back so it’s not completely even physicality. There are one or two that are questionable but there were also a few very soft whistles on spurs in this game.
It’s looking like Knicks are just the favored team now so people are biased and reactionary when there are some bad calls. It almost seems like a lot of you expect them to just be able to foul as much as they want.
TBH, the one foul that wasn’t called right that offended me was when Wemby was damn near on one of the Knicks. I forgot who it was but I was seeing and in disbelief
It offended you huh?
Just last week it was only a OKC problem and everyone shut down any comment about a league wide problem 😭
Nah y’all are corny too.
lebron not you gif
Not yall complaining about the refs
We’re out and the refs are still ass why is that?
Because Adam wants 7 games, how is that hard to understand?
Did you really think ya’ll magically “won” game 4 last year vs the Pacers? No, Adam made the call and the extender performed his masterclass.
Do you think the Pacers magically made the come back in G1? They were gifted a ton of calls to begin it. Same with G3 and G4. Nesmith and Nembhard played Castle/Carsuso defense on the Thunder, and no one cared because they hate OKC.
Same thing with the Shai 8 TO game. That game was clearly officiated to favor Indiana
The finals trophy doesn’t mention that anywhere it just says OKC nba champions you’ll see on Wednesday Knicks in 4
Can’t wait for the scripted comeback of the Spurs this year. First team to ever win 4 in a row after going down 3. Then for the Knicks to go another few decades with no Finals appearances.
No one ever said you guys were the only problem. In fact quite a few of us said it’s a league wide problem and OKC is the poster child.
Hit me with the Lebron anybody but you gif
To be clear (and I do not have a horse in this race), there is a difference between the Spurs and OKC
The Thunder have turned flopping into an art form. It’s shitty, but until someone chooses to enforce it, it’s a part of the game.
The Spurs are being gifted a generational whistle. They’re not flopping, it’s being afforded a different ruleset entirely.
I think that is an important distinction.
I would argue that OKC gets a different whistle on defense too. Dort and Caruso have reputations for being able to hack and foul on every possession for a reason. But otherwise I agree with the rest of your statement.
Anyone else but you
knicks really turned that game 2 into a foul fest, refs got them whistle on speed dial lmao
Most of the calls were BS
Which ones? The Robinson tech, the +1 on Vassell that hit his hair (tbh no idea how that one is even supposed to be whistled but no foul to me), and Towns’ 4th are the ones I think are debatable.
All the others are fouls, and there were also some uncalled ones like Castle getting hit in the face.
The issue is that the Knicks didn’t get the same whistle on the other side of the floor not that these ones aren’t fouls.
2 KAT Phantom calls Vassell Hair call Mitch tech but no tech for Wemby for initiation Fox getting in Brunsons face then pushing Mikal no tech Hart flagrant review when no team asked for it (after a kick ball from Vassell) Wemby no flagrant/call when he strangulates Jose No call on OG 3 had to challenge Fox double dribble and gets rewarded with an and-1 Kornet kick ball no call Duece back court violation
Need i go on?
Fox double dribble where he hooked harts arm before getting a soft and-1
Don’t get why everybody is complaining about that play. So many fouls in the same play not being called, starting with defensive fouls…
It’s a truly incredible play in how many violations there were (the 2 hooks by both Fox and Hart, the travel, the double dribble, another gather, then the foul that’s actually called) and one call was made
That’s 1st a foul on McBride, then on Hart, then a hook, then a double dribble and then another foul. Take your pick.
It’s either a foul on Fox or Hart on the floor, but it should never lead to an and one lmao
It was kind of an amazing sequence where like 8 rules were broken and none of them were called
The 3rd and 4th fouls on Kat were nonsense. In fact the 4th foul on KAT should have been a foul on the Spurs. He was fouled 2-3 times directly before that foul was called on him
Numerous podcasts that generally don’t talk much about reffing have mentioned that today
Dont even try to argue, there are just a ton of people on here who have only ever watched a couple of games and are only paying attention right now because Knicks. Knicks made a ton of stupid fouls. I agree a few calls were iffy, but that goes both ways.
The point is it didn’t go both ways, even accounting for bias. It was objectively unbalanced..
I don’t agree with blaming outcomes on referees. In this case, the Knicks won anyway and it highlights their level of focus compared to the Spurs, who were essentially gifted the game and choked.
Eh I said it didn’t go both ways and got downvoted to hell anyways so yeah it’s impossible to argue at the moment. I understand it but it’s hilarious.
Yall won. All this bitching and moaning by Knicks fans is embarrassing tbh
Edit: lmao at bedklutzy9141 posting a reply and immediately blocking me because he couldn’t handle a reply. Soft as fuck
Rubbing two brain cells together over there.
Refs gifted the spurs extra chances to win instead of calling it fairly. Totally reasonable thing to care about
Lol you’re just mad they won, posts in the spurs sub were going on about how much the officiating favored them. If you actually care about the sport this would upset you, but I’m guessing you’re just a hater
This guy hides his comments and is taking the moral high ground 😂 yeah roast bedklutzy dude, ya got him
I blocked him because I simply don’t care to hear the noise. It’s a peaceful life.
Don’t blame you. Knicks in 4.
*ooooh now 18banners is mad 😡 people are mocking him on the internet, but that should be impossible because he hides all his comments!!!!!!!!!
