I listen to his podcast all the time. He is not a breaking news reporter. He has a few connections with the Heat (according to him), and has media credentials to kinda just cover the beat, but I do not remember the last time he actually had a scoop about a signing or trade before it happened.

During the Dame saga, he (and others, sure) continually said the Heat were basically guaranteed to get Dame, it was just a matter of time, etc. Didn’t happen. Frankly, nobody saw the Bucks coming, but it just goes to show he knows very little of inner machinations going on behind the scenes.

When players have been traded here since I’ve been listening (5-6 years now), I don’t recall him calling it before it happened. It was always him parroting what other reporters were saying.

He gives his opinion, sometimes says sources tell him the Heat wanna do this, don’t wanna do that, etc, but again, he simply doesn’t know what they’re actually doing. And what they end up doing is often at odds with what he thought they’d do.

Dig around and see other things he’s called beforehand that are this confident in terms of a player ending up on the Heat. He doesn’t really do that. And when he speculates about players the Heat are going to get, he often misses, like most people do when they speculate. And I say speculate, because that’s what he does. Which is why it’s strange he’s saying ‘guarantee’ unless he wasn’t really being serious when he said this.

Absolutely this, Ethan had sources when Wade was on the team but he’s just a grifter now. That whole band that podcast together don’t know anything and like to pretend they have sources. They have been saying for the last 5 years Miami will be making big summer moves only to walk it back later and say the Heat weren’t interested or the player didn’t do enough to get to Miami. He’s had knee and ankle issues since the title. an MCL sprain in 2022 kept him out of the bucks series vs the celtics, and since then he’s had recurring knee issues. He then had surgeries on both of his ankles in the 2024 offseason after he was pretty good against the Pacers in the playoffs. His body just failed him, which basically shut the bucks title window.

He was fairly healthy for Dallas and Washington last season so hopefully he can end his career without more major injuries. He shot well from 3 in Dallas so if he can keep that up next year and stay healthy he should be able to keep his career going.
