there’s definitely some warning signs with chet, he’s kind of mediocre against good teams, he’s ahd stinkers against denver and indiana as well

but like, the only difference between the thunder in the finals and not are chet putting up 15 instead of 4, which would still be bad but just not as bad, but it’s not like it’s a crazy bar

he’s only 24 so he’s not even in his “prime” range yet

i feel like you can’t give up on him and just have to find a way to get him to improve

this isn’t like a lakers scenario where AR apparently wants 40+ and he’s 28 years old so you know he’s probably only going down and not up at the end of the contract with some sketchy playoff performances

i’d be hopeful with chet and finding a way to help get him better

I mean obviously, everyone just loves to over react. Anyone that knows Sam Presti knows that he does not make panic decisions that jeopardize the teams future. Chet has been great against teams that don’t have Wemby on them, just have to hope he can work through this and find away to overcome the mental block a give a little more production against the spurs in the future. Not to mention, having Jdub injured put a ton of extra weight on Chet’s shoulders in the playoffs. Chet was used to being the 3rd offensive option and got thrown to the wolves against the worst possible matchup for him. Just like everyone is giving Wemby excuses for being young, Chet is still young too.

It’s an easy decision, It has to be Dort.

What does he do apart from try and injure already injured players.

He is not the 2nd best defender in the league lol, please let’s put this to rest at least until next postseason. That said it would be pretty foolish to trade him

They may well be thinking about a potentrial move, but even considering doing it right now is ridiculous. At minimum wait until midseason, fresh off a terrible series is not a great way to get value for your stars

If you look closely KAT is Wemby and Wemby is Chet in this series….are you trading Wemby? Obviously not. Sometimes its just a matchup issue or inexperience

There’s quite literally not a move they can make on the trade market without compromising their short term identity and long term flexibility. This team was 1 hamstring or calf away from a finals appearence, I doubt Sam Presti will act from a position of weakness.

i think it is actually more likely (though still very unlikely) that they eventually move jalen williams than chet.

jdub’s hamstring issues could very well put a limit on how great he can be, but right now he’d still have insanely high trade value. they could practically get whatever they want for him.

i don’t think it’s the right move, and i highly doubt that they’re even meaningfully considering it, but it wouldn’t be a complete surprise to me either.

Why would they ? He’s young and have objectively very good potential with good rim protection and is a solid 2 or 3rd option in offense. People shit on him and overreacted way too much after that bad series. Good thing Redditors are not GMs

Chet had an underwhelming series and a horrible game 7, but the bigger issue were the injuries to JDub and Mitchell. Chet isn’t capable of being a second option, especially against Wemby. A healthy OKC would’ve won that series

I will never understand why Chet would be considered the 2nd best defender in the league right now.

I genuinely don’t see it. He is definitely one of the best HELP defenders in the league, but he isn’t elite in 1on1 situations and he can get bullied by physically stronger players easily. He also doesn’t come close to the rim presence of a Wemby or Gobert.

Furthermore, he isn’t an elite rebounder despite his size.

He is a good defender, surrounded by good defenders.
