Brunson gets so many interceptions on those drive and kicks to the corner. He should suit up for the giants this season we need him

Brunson’s steals have been so clutch. Also… They’re double and sometimes tripling Brunson from half court, but unlike the insanely injured thunder, we have 6 other guys that can score.

A little hard to say he’s a better defender than fox while fox has been one of the primary defenders holding Brunson to abysmal shooting percentages. The Spurs have been thoroughly beaten (with the refs on their side), but defending Brunson has probably been the one bright spot.

Brunsons toughness, effort and intelligence on defense are excellent, despite his lack of speed and size. He’s doing a very solid job, and has throughout these playoffs. Towns, too—so much better the last couple of months than his defense over his entire career prior to this.

Wow he had five steals? I was saying that he had a god-awful game but that kind of makes up for it a bit. I hope he’s okay though he just doesn’t look right. He sounded kind of sick and his knees and everything like those shots he was missing at the end of the game were like really uncharacteristic of him

He tries for me that’s always good same thing with Steph yeah they may not be premiere defenders but they give effort

I always tell people, when they say he’s an awful defender they’re a fucking lie. Sometimes he gets caught, because people can shoot over him and blow by him. He’s not blocking anyone. But he’s a dog defensively. He scraps and bodies you and will draw charges and try to take the ball from you. He’ll get you off balance if he can and buy time for the help to show up.

So people think “just attack Brunson” is the plan, but it doesn’t work out like they hope. If your team’s best offensive player who isn’t a good defender trained and tried as hard at defense as Brunson, your team would win more.

i dont see his performance an think Brunson is struggling at all. the shots didnt fall, but i think he’s very clearly takjng what the defense is giving him–and thats to feed the rock to other guys. they were putting so much pressure on him he had to jus be a safe pair of hands to get the plays initiated trust that all that attention on him would free somehing up for his teammates to execute.

put another way: i highly doubt mike brown is remotely worried about brunson’s shot and is prolly telling him to keep doing exactly what hes doing

unbelievable example of team basketball by the knicks an it starts with brunson doing the lowkey right thing against a crazy ass spuds defense.

there will be a nuts brunson scoring game in this series at some point.

Brunson plays scrappy defense and comes up clutch. He’s like Steph where they aren’t good defenders but they have moments. Steph maybe a little better than Brunson but same deal. Knicks just have a good defense overall, most impressed with KAT. I dislike the Knicks heavily but this is a team worthy of respect.

One underrated thing about him is ability to draw offensive fauls. He leads the league in this category this season.

Honestly his defense is masterclass of finding unorthodox ways to adress own weak points.

5 steals last night, 1-14 as the primary defender the game before. He’s everywhere.

His hustle and effort on defense made up for his unusual off-shooting night. He had a lot of bad bricks but he had some huge steals as well. Brunson struggled against Dyson Daniels a lot but eventually got cooking later on, so I’m expecting a big Brunson game later in the series.

He’s basically having the Kobe game 7 against the Celtics in 2010 finals. Shooting terribly but doing everything else.

yes overall for sure he is hustling out there. but i thought the spurs cooked him a little down the stretch on that comeback run

The Spurs guards are bigger and are getting shots. If they hit them they win. But they’re fast enough to disrupt drives.

Brunson has been awful offensively and defensively. He was getting abused by Fox and Harper during the run

He gets steals but that’s about it.
