Game 6 against The Hawks was the moment I realized this Knicks team was different than all others before.
The Knicks don’t usually set records, especially against their rivals. Being up 47 against the Hawks in an elimination game was a statement. And it didn’t seem like many took notice.

we went up 72-22 in the second quarter and their whole team looked completely broken, like they all just wanted to go home

People definitely took notice after they blew out the Hawks in a close out game lol. Blew out may even be an understatement. Maybe they didn’t get all the credit they deserved, but to say many people weren’t talking about it is just not true lol.
It really does seem like that first round series with the Hawks was a huge wake up call for the Knicks after barely losing 2 games. Coaching staff made adjustments and players just came out with much more intensity game 5 onward.
On the other hand, if they do blow it from here, it also goes down as a massive choke. Not that I think that’s going to happen, but just saying this is legacy-defining for an entire franchise no matter the result. Destiny is in their hands.

Look up all the vets that hopped on Lebron teams and The Warriors last decade. With the way the 2nd apron is set up, you can only hold onto so many high level core players anyway. See the Celtics recent moves for a sneak peak at what is going to happen to all of these young contenders by next decade.

Im still of the opinion that putting giannis on this team next to wembanyama would give them like 82-0 potential. They would score exponentially more, with even better perimeter defense and rim protection and rebounding.

There was a lot eagerness regarding the WCF, and we really just expected the Knicks to be a non factor in the Finals. NGL, I got caught up in it too.
Outside of the OT game against the Cavs, the wins going into the Finals have been very decisive. Knicks are for real and the collective experience is shining through. They’re a lot more composed and decisive as a unit. Even when things aren’t going their way, they don’t panic or get bent out of if shape.
We’re going to be the only team for a while to have the double banner of NBA Cup Champs and NBA Champs

Any team that wins an NBA championship in the modern era will have had one of the best runs in NBA playoff history. Winning any NBA Championship is extremely tough. You have to murder the dreams of 4 other squads to make your dream come true. To do it this efficiently and dominate the teams they did at a historic level in the Eastern Conference has been incredible. KAT unlocked something that is truly special.

Our bench is insane, no matter the lineup we have on the floor it’s a threat.
Our bench is weird. They shot lights out up until this series. No one is respected or as skilled as Harper or Johnson but with one starter they held and maintained lead from 3rd to 4th. Tough dudes. Weren’t too shook even with awful shots. Landry confidence is huge. Biggest asset. Mike uses everyone better. Our biggest offseason get hasn’t seen the floor, right (clarkson—biggest on paper addition, no?)

Wembys height has definitely impacted the offense. In other series the Knicks players would drive to the hoop but they are seldom doing that because of Wemby. It’s been a great adjustment by Mike Brown.

Moving KAT to a playmaker role has completely changed the dynamics on offense. Cavs came closest to disrupting it with their size. No one else has enough height and weight to stop KAT from either driving or fishing down the lane.

I mean its not unsual for teams to need a season of continuity to reach their peak. Last season’s bench was much weaker also with Mitch missing most of the season and Shamet being out the first few months also and of course no GTA or Clarkson. But also, the knicks beat the defending champs BOS last year and were 1 Hali lucky bounce away from probably making the finals. So this isn’t out of nowhere, it took them almost 2 seasons to really click chemistry wise.
GTA unironically making a huge difference this playoffs though, so not the same.

I mean it’s definitely not. The east had some horrible teams. They almost lost to the hawks. Beating the spurs is dope but the spurs are tired and young spurs team that just got done playing the real finals matchup with the thunder.
Not saying it’s going to happen or that I want it too but it would be fucking hilarious if the spurs pull a 21 bucks and go 4-0 to win it in 6 after being down 2. All this talk about “all time great playoff run” when they were down 2-1 and the warriors and Lakers swept their way to the finals and only lost one game due to a special performance by LeBron and iverson respectfully.
