Spurs were down 3-2 and 1 of the spurs 2 wins was in OT. They also went 6 games against hobbled Ant. The information was not pointing to the spurs having an easy time against this Knicks team, but that seemed to be the consensus.
It’s starting to look a lot more like an asterisk for the Spurs if things continue to play out this way in the Finals. And you’re right. As good as the Thunder are, they were missing talent due to injuries. Injuries are part of the game, yeah yeah sure, but it’s hard to ignore the impact of those guys. They could have desperately used a secondary scorer, especially with Chet being a none factor, and they simply didn’t have that option available. Even then, the series still went seven games. That’s what makes it hard not to wonder how different the outcome might have been if the Thunder had even one of those injured players healthy. We’ll never know for sure, but it’s a fair question to ask imo.
He does not have the dawg like OG does, JDub would just get blocked a couple times and get scared. I am not saying he is not great, but in that specific instance, I don’t think JDub would do well. Chet not showing up and Shai being inefficient killed their chances. I don’t think talking about injuries is fair given SAS missed Fox for 2 games and he played the other games injured and also Harper was hurt. And they did win last year but that time other teams had injuries

i know it’s not a 1-1 comparison but it kinda reminded me of lillard when he finally got to the conference finals, he walked out of the game 7 win in the 2nd round super emotional looking like he had finally made it… and then seemed out of it in the next round, ended up getting swept.
like, emotionally he was so gassed getting to the finals he hasn’t quite locked back in. NY and KAT in particular is locked in.
I’ll keep saying it, and praying I’m not jinxing it, but the spurs should not be beating the knicks. The Knicks have played five games in the last month while the spurs fought for their lives against the defending champion and the MVP. The Spurs are insanely young, with a 22 year old and a rookie as their best players. Their veteran presence is d’aaron Fox, who is great but not looked to as a playoff leader. The knicks have an experienced, balanced, and deep team. They don’t (usually) get caught up in the moment. Every game starts off with a “the score is 0-0 right now” mindset. They trust each other and they trust their coach.
Yea, my friends and dad are seeing these games differently than me. I’m like you, I don’t think it should happen, I think they are playing poorly, shooting awful, offense grinds to a halt in 4th, ugly. That they win is such a testament to all those other things you mention and people talk of that I usually brush away. They are a team, believe and trust and like each other. It’s crazy. I don’t understand how they won. No one beats the refs. Not twice in a row. Not when they play their stars.
I just think the spurs offense sucks this entire playoffs and they’ve been able to get by because their defense was so good
They don’t have anyone who can operate a system and consistently break a defense down to score or assist

The level of play is just phenomenal, on par with some of the best Olympics games from Paris.
I’m 47.. I’m more than convinced Wemby would have been far far less effective in the 90s. OG, Kat would be average good players in terms of physicality. The lack of dunking and rebounding prowlness today makes anyone doing that decently look like superstars.
