Houston Rockets launch new uniforms and redesigned logos in a return to the “Ketchup and Mustard” era

While I wish they moved away from the “R” logo, I do think it’s improved with the yellow. I’m happy the Dunkstronaut is now a permanent fixture.
These aren’t a huge improvement on what we had before, but they are definitely better!
disagree, this is a huge improvement. granted, the improvement was from “total boredom” to “kinda cool”, these have actual identity which we haven’t had in 25 years. there’s actually something to love or hate now instead of total indifference.
In a vacuum, the R logo works really well. I think the bigger issue was that it coincided with a rebranding around the fact that we were now marketing and catering to China with having Yao as the face of the org as well as tons of in-arena sponsorships from chinese companies that didnt sell products in the US. It was unfortunate we left the ketchup and mustard looks for a cartoon rocket right after back-to-back titles. Hopefully returning to the rightful colors brings the same success it brought the Astros when they changed back to original colors
unless the mustard makes amen 40% from three and gives reed shepperd some handles, i wouldn’t hold my breath. maybe we can throw ime and a new uni and he’ll learn there’s an offensive side to basketball. here’s hoping.

The old logos with actual rockets are sick and AI much better than the R. I mistook them for the rebrand in the site and then realized they were doing a retrospective.

In defense of the R - the NBA has that stupid rule that if you redesign the logo, the new one has to have a basketball in it somewhere. Which has led to some pretty uninspired ones (see: Orlando). So they probably didn’t want to have to deal with that

It has too much going on. Looks like it’s dripping and the points of the R in the top left are sticking out. The design should be simpler with rounder corners.
It’s kinda lame and it doesn’t look like a rocket. We unveiled the R logo when we moved to the Toyota center way back… Funny coincidence that our logo and the Toyota logo, the company that owns our stadium naming rights, are so similar in both shape and color. It’s like it was designed in a Toyota marketing boardroom to look good next to the Toyota logo.
It’s almost 25 years old and have also unveiled it as a “new” logo twice in the last 7 years. Most of the fanbase wants it gone and they keep teasing us
Actual rockets are the most incredible thing that humans have ever built and our take on it is a nod to our stadium sponsor that also looks like a toilet bowl.

I mean almost half the league shares colorways. Red/Black - 4 teams; Blue/Red - 6 teams; Blue/Yellow - 4 teams.
Could probably make a case for a few others to be included in those groups based on tertiary colors.

Damn. I felt the same way about the Magic unis. The all-caps Orlando on the jersey looks weird but I otherwise like it. Anyway, I don’t think Rockets unis are as bad as some people are saying in this thread, but I do feel a little underwhelmed. Oh well.

The year is 2139 and the Houston Rockets just released our 68th “new” logo and it’s just the 65th variation of the R slapped on a different background.
I like them. They look like modern versions of the championship era jerseys. At least the red and white ones. I dont like the black ones. Nike, every team doesn’t need a black uniform, only if it’s actually one of their team colors (Spurs, Blazers, Heat, etc). Also don’t love the pinstripes, but whatever, they’re not too overpowering.

All caps with a lowercase t is terrible. The triangle is bad, but I kinda see what they’re going for. Color scheme is good.

I like them. I’m glad they finally went back to the red and yellow full time. I’m also glad they kept their black jersey because I thought that was their best one last year.

My McDonald’s has been using white straws for as long as I’ve been alive. Never seen a red and yellow striped McDonald’s straw before. I’m guessing it’s a regional thing
