Evidence strongly leans to all this being a nothing burger. Ballmer was clearly defrauded since Sandberg had every incentive to say otherwise. Therefore, Sandberg signed Kawhi to that deal for reasons other than salary cap circumvention. Maybe he just thought he was doing Ballmer a solid and it would pay off in the future with more money. Or maybe he loved the idea of hanging around NBA players and arenas as an uber VIP.

Seems clear that Ballmer didn’t do anything here.
