[Fischer] Pelicans are interested in Jaylen Brown
Said it today on his live stream. Thought it was interesting given the Trey Murphy rumors
Gonna take way more than Trey to make that make sense
Need a 3rd team to actually add some additional value and be able to absorb salary etc… We would also need other teams interested in JB to build up some leverage.
I don’t think we would do this, but JB for trey and zion works.
Brad did say he wants us to score more at the rim lol
Its take trey and zion for brown imo and i still wouldnt do it
Don’t the pelicans own the bucks 2027 1st?
I wonder if they are trying to be a 3rd team in a giannis deal and this is where the rumors are coming from.
I wouldn’t rule out some multi team trade where Boston moves on from white, Prichard, Hauser, brown and lots of picks and somehow gets giannis, Murphy, and dejounte. Who know.
Giannis and Dejounte would be terrible for spacing
You can afford to have one of them, but not both
I’ve said Trey Murphy and try to flip Dejounte/Queta for Gobert and I wouldn’t hate it
I would hate it
That is a much worse team than JB/Queta
They have nothing interesting enough to give JB up for
It would probably be trey plus dejounte and a few picks for jb.
Doesn’t sound good
The picks will probably be amazing. Murray can probably be flipped to a team that is desperate for secondary creation like the pistons considering he is on a cheap contract for his production. Pelicans can offer the 2027 swap which is insanely valuable plus the 29 and maybe 31 pick. Those would most likely be very very valuable future picks. Especially with the new lottery rules.
We are trying to win a championship next season tho how does that make us a contender
Picks can be flipped. Dejounte Murray is on a medium sized contract. That plus the picks can easily turn into a star pg or big to pair with tatum.
That just over complicates it. Can move Jaylen for who you want if that’s the plan easier.
Trades are complicated these days. Most good teams don’t want a wing that scores a lot inefficiently. If we want to get pieces splitting brown into smaller contracts is the way. Easier to trade a 30 mill deal than a max one.
I think Murray and Murphy alone make us better than Jaylen would have next to Tatum.
If there is significant draft capital that opens the door for us to add another significant player.
Murray and White. What is this, the 2018 Spurs?
Dejounte and Derrick would not be a good teammate reunion imo.
Jaylen and Hauser for Zion and Trey would work and probably be a better “fit”, but we know it won’t work out with Zion
Agreed. Ultimately Zion is probably too big of a risk, but I’d love to see a White-Murphy-Tatum-Zion lineup with Queta or whatever big man Brad adds this summer.
If I get really delusional, I can talk myself into Tatum being a perfect role model to help Zion figure things out. The Duke brotherhood etc.
Also Joe Dumars might send picks with Zion and Murphy hahaha.
Yeah and Brad trading for Zion, just for him to turn things around and win a title with us, seems like a classic Brad Stevens front office maneuver
Yeah, Zion in Boston with Joe as his coach could turn things around mentally for sure, but the injuries could definitely show up regardless. but man, if he was healthy, Zion, Tatum, Murphy, White, Pritchard, Queta is an awesome top 6.
You see the vision. Also how about a White-Hugo-Murphy-Tatum-Zion lineup? Maximum chaos.
The reason why Jaylen is even available is largely due to his salary. Even if you trade Jaylen for something like Murray, Trey Murphy and a pick, that greatly improves your cap flexibility and luxury tax position. And keeps you extremely competitive if Jayson Tatum is who you think he is. Murphy is also 5 years younger than Jaylen Brown. The Pels value Trey Murphy as being worth 4-5 picks due to Mikal Bridges and Bane trades. They aren’t going to send Trey and 4 picks over the Boston for an aging Jaylen Brown that doesn’t fit the timeline of Fears and Queen.
Yeah.
They could offer us some depth… but we already have depth.
We want to improve the top 5 at the expense of the bottom 4. Not the other way around.
We’re 11-12 deep depending on how you feel about certain players.
Tatum
Brown
White
Pritchard
Queta
Hauser
Scheierman
Gonzalez
Walsh
Garza
2026 FRP
Harper Jr
Hauser + FRP(s) + one of the bench wings for Murphy makes sense (for us) because we’re at a point where we want to consolidate and trim a 12-deep roster down to a stronger 9-10.
Brown for Murphy + extra players means we’ll be running like 13-15 deep with no way of playing everyone, so we’ll just have a bunch of talent rotting on the bench.
Brown is better than everyone in New Orleans, so they can’t offer us an upgrade for him.
Teams absolutely desire Scheierman and Hugo over Hauser and so shouldnt all of us.
We have high hopes for Scheierman and Gonzalez, because we’re optimistic fans, but Hauser is a lot more proven.
He can also instantly slot into any team and is the kind of player coaches/GMs absolutely adore.
He’s on a completely different level with his shooting ability. Plus, if you listen to Joe in interviews, he casually mentions all the time that Hauser grades as one of our better defenders according to their internal analytics.
He’s not the POA defender that either of them are, and his defence isn’t as visually exciting as theirs can be, but he’s really really elite with his positioning, anticipation and discipline. He’s elite in all the areas us fans often overlook.
Hauser gets put in a lot of mock trade scenarios because his 10m contract is a big difference for us this year, but that contract would be incredibly team-friendly for anyone else.
We just happen to have very small margins of flexibility, and very few options for how we could open up space on this team.
I think Trey Murphy is a great player… but I’m confused to why people are hyping him up as much as they are. In no scenario would I want to get Murphy for Brown unless Boston gets a lot more in addition.
Yeah if it’s Murphy, Queen, Murray and multiple firsts for JB I’m listening but they won’t do that
Pelicans fan here:
Reportedly the only two untouchable on the roster are Queen and Fears.
So the Queen addition, surprisingly(or maybe not given its Weaver and Dumars), is the no go there allegeldy
The picks are the real prize. There is zero chance pels will be good any time soon.
Yeah, I don’t see Murphy necessarily as a starter on a title-winning team.

Pass
The Celts would need lots more than Trey Murphy. God forbid the Pels try to throw Zion into the mix.
Brown + Hauser for Zion + Murphy does work as far as salary trade rules go. Not that I’d do that, but the trade machine is fine with it.
I’m all set
What are they giving up in the trade?
15% ownership? lol
If you trade Jaylen send him somewhere that is not a poverty franchise
With their next two frps tied into swaps I don’t even think they have draft capital to make it interesting, let alone players.
The pelicans have control of their own frp every year starting after this years draft.
They owe just the worst of their own pick and the bucks 2027 FRP to the hawks in the 2027 draft.
They also own the better half of that swap. Meaning the better half of a swap between hot ass and hot ass teams.
No, don’t do JB dirty like that
I thought you meant Jaylen said it today during his livestream lmao
Trey, herb, missi plus 3 picks
Yes, give us Trey, missi, and that bucks pick and a couple others.
if its not giannis then the package has to be massive
Herb Jones, Zion, and all their picks.
I want nothing to do with Zion lol
I still think there’s an all nba player in zion.
You mean like Zion ate another NBA player?
Herb Jones isn’t good.

He’s not good offensively. He solves none of our playoff offensive woes, and that’s only magnified if he’s in a package for Brown. We don’t need another defensive wing; he’d just be taking minutes from Baylor, Hugo, and Walsh. He doesn’t fill a positional need for us, which is a big and a guard. And he’s seemingly always injured nowadays.
Zion rim pressure opening up shooter, Herb Jones bringing back clamps.
Only positional need we have to worry about is center.
Would only make sense as a destination in a three-team deal that gets us back Giannis and sends Murphy and other stuff to Milwaukee. But I feel that probably doesn’t work for what the Bucks are looking for anyways lol.
My understanding is the Bucks wanted not just legit young talent but also a bunch of picks. They saw themselves as entirely “rebuilding” if they traded Giannis.
I don’t see them only trading Giannis, either. They have several guys with very similiar skill sets on the team as is right now.
I’m on team trade Brown and do like Murphy, but no way
JB for Zion, Jones, Trey, Fears, Queen, let’s do it !
But those guys aren’t that good. Otherwise they’d be winning more games.
Trey Murphy looking more likely
The JB hate on this sub next level if they think fucking Trey Murphy isn’t on JB level please stop
I’m interested in Sabrina carpenter
I’m sure that they are.
Fears + Trey + Herb and a few picks and I’d think abt it tbh
better give us the entire organization lol
Could they be the 3rd team in a giannis trade?
Anyone else forget the Pelicans were a team?
Yiiikes. We’d be sending JB to purgatory.
At least Marcus went to (at the time) a promising, young Grizzlies team.
Yall are crazy to think the Pels would give up both Trey AND Zion. That’s not happening.

Roast it…
Wait, take out PP I thought he was needed for salary but he ain’t
Any details?
Did he mention any other teams?
Portland Houston Atlanta the ones we already knew
Is Queen in play? I still wouldn’t do it but that’s the only way this would make sense.
I could maybe see it if we got Trey + another player from a different team that’s actually a difference maker, if they are sending draft assets too.
For example:
Essentially, Brown + Hauser for Murphy + AD
You keep scoring on the wing, but add a center and scoring at that position.
Bonus points in that we don’t give up any assets and stay below the tax.
Lots of risk but a chance for huge upside. (And way under the tax.)
Yea, or something like this. I’m not sure we’d be able to get all the picks, but if you could just get the 2029 1st, that would allow you to trade 2028 + 2030 or 2027 + 2029 firsts in a future trade.
I think I’d be in favor of turning Brown into 2 efficient scoring threats that could at least guard their yard, especially if you could finagle a 2029 1st too.
The other thing about this is that you could use the MLE/TPE to go get a stretch big, like Myles Turner or John Collins.
I’m not a huge fan of Zion’s defense and injury history, which is what largely gives me pause. I also am not sure the Pels would give that much
Yeah I heard op’s mom is also interested in Jaylen Brown.
Murphy, Poole, Missi, and picks for Jaylen is something I think makes us better if Poole agrees to an amenable extension.
