Mitchell Robinson dribbling and doing a lil shooting with the brace on his right hand. (From the NY Post)
Mitch Rob is about to shoot 70% from 3 in the Finals with the new brace. Hack-A-Mitch will be nullified as he goes a perfect 8-8 in G1.
😂🤣😂🤣 lets try 50% from the charity stripe first?
let’s aim for 40% ft and 40% from 3. a man can dream
Tbh I did not realize how bad it actually is until this comment
30% from FT all playoffs holy
he’s sadly the GOAT of missed FT % in the playoffs.
I love him for y’all. Gonna be 5 on 4 out there.
Mitch provides more spacing than most shooters. His gravity is insane. Historic offensive rebound percentage.
You’ll learn soon enough (I guess you forgot the cup game)
Thats probably a salty OKC fan lmao
Congrats on the cup 😂🤣🥳🥳
Double champs soon
mavs not knicks fan but i got hella respect for Robinsons game, cemented his roster spot by doing all the dirty work nobody else wants to work on
except free throws.
We’ve seen what Wemby has done to all the Bigs he’s played.
His broken finger is going to be like the character’s broken arm in Rookie of the Year. They’ll be incredible and once they heal up, it’s back to business as usual.
naaa he had a game where he went 7⁄8 once let us dream 😂
Fr he didn’t break anything they installed some cyberpunk cyberware
Sandevistan rebounds incoming.
It’s like one of those stories where a woman who went blind for 23 yrs after an accident, got her vision back after she slipped, broked her back, had to get spine surgery, which miraculously got her vision back, and no one could even explain how why that happened.
So if he shoots 80 percent FT in these finals do you amputate? Keep breaking it? Just keep the brace on?
Treat it like Rip Hamilton treated the mask.
At some point, he didn’t need it, but he played so well with it he just kept it on after he’d healed up.
Nobody carded who he was until he put on the mask.
He was a big guy
Until Pablo Torre discovers that it’s not actually a brace but a mini-robot that instantly corrects Mitch’s shooting motion
They’re calling it the most sophisticated piece of technology in the world.
We’re going to find out, what this sound is: “mechanical finger creaking”
Just watch how he shoots. The brace isn’t going to help unless it completely alters his form. Dude shoots it like a Ohani is hitting a laser beam line drive to second.
It’s so fucking bad it’s wild. He makes Shaq look like Curry. Literally doing anything else at all will make it better, including wild shit like going for bank shots.
‘Yeah lets pretend he broke his hand so we can give him a magical basketball glove’ I know New York withcraft when I see it
Remember when Amare punched a fire extinguisher cabinet? NY again
The infinity stones on it did seem odd
Let’s be honest as long as it doesn’t impact his rebounding this is a non issue. He was never going to provide scoring broken finger or not.
He needs to be able to throw down lobs too.
Good thing he can grab the ball with both hands
And block with both hands
And grapple with wemby
I mean he is a lob threat and really helps the vertical spacing while on the floor. He’ll give you a really fun 6 points
Should get a club like D-Linemen
Its crazy to think hes not allowed to really dribble in game, but if he showed up to any random court, theres a good chance hes the best ball handler.
“I’m closer to LeBron than you are to me”
Honestly, I bet there are a number of people on this sub who could shoot at least 40 percent free throws.
40 percent I can shoot with my off hand, and I haven’t touched a ball in a year
Good chance?
He plays in NYC. Some of the local parks have real ballers.
And he’s in the NBA finals , what are we even talking about here
I could hit FTs at a higher percentage than Shaq.
That doesnt mean im better than him lol
At free throws you are
The knicks aren’t there because of him though lol
Hes definitely played a part, even if its just being at practice and filling in the role for another big on another team.
There’s literal footage of him playing pickup offseason and he looks like a 7’ wing.
Ya, if he wants to drift outside you let him shoot. Outdoors you want no part of a drive. Swipe at the ball and get out of the way.
There are ballers everywhere in the world. People really think the nba only has good basketball players. There are regular working folks that can hoop
Bruh, no. Just no.
The NBA has about 500 players. For ease of math and arguments sake, let’s say there are 500 million people that are male and age eligible… That’s the top 0.0001% of those people. There are maybe 100 more people in the world that could play in the NBA, and they’re likely playing in G League or in another professional league somewhere, and maybe only a handful would be starters.
No random working dude can hoop like an NBA player. The amount of time and dedication required would be impossible for someone with a regular job. They’d have no time to train and practice specific skills, not to mention the coaching for all other aspects required to be a top athlete (strength and conditioning trainers, dieticians, personal chefs, training facility, on-call physical therapists/doctors, gyms, top-tier competition to practice against and learn from, decades worth of film-access, coaches who help you break down what others have done and what you are doing, etc…).
If a random baller in a park was good enough to beat any NBA player, they would be playing professionally somewhere.
Or their just short lol
lmao nope
It’s not crazy most people don’t have brains and Knicks fan got baited in every summer seeing vids of him taking threes, blowing by and dunking vs 5’9 white guys and trainers
He’s getting paid 14 million dollars to train every day playing basketball. You would hope that he would be better than a bunch of nobodies lmao
If he showed up to a court I’m at he is definitely not better than me at handling the ball lol. I would bet my life on that. I was also a PG though
Yeah, maybe.
I’m with you. I can imagine these buttery handles.
Wait a professional would be better than amateurs???
The average redditer and their ability to have no reading comprehension skills continues to baffle me.
Your inability to interpret a joke continues to baffle me.
Now do you see how you sound?
This probably has a better chance to raise his FT percentage than lower it tbh.
There’s essentially no direction to go but up
Just a lil shootaround
Do a lil shooting reminds me of “Speak a lil Chinese for ‘em Derek”
Lmaoo that’s exactly where my mind went too. Knicks social media team definitely has someone who watches Uncut Gems on loop.
Nice
He’s playing.
We already knew that…
Medical staff hadn’t cleared him (technically still haven’t), so likely but not 100%
Well yes.
Desagana Diop on their coaching staff?
He’s their g league head coach.
Can anyone who’s had this injury speak on it? Will he be limited defensively and can he still be a lob threat? When he dunks, can he only dunk with his left hand?
Mitch is gonna be a huge part of how successful Knicks are against Spurs + Wemby.
I’ve never played basketball with a broken finger but I have worked construction after a broken finger that broke skin in a brace similar-ish to what he’s wearing. I was able to do everything really, but he will likely just be in pain when its sees contact from swelling etc. adrenaline will mask most of that though I’m sure.
And the drugs.
dunking with authority or hanging on the rim probably not. but he can probably softly graze it in without regretting it. his limbs have full range of motion, he should be fine on defense. rust due to the fact hes only done limited individual workouts would be the only concern.
I mean it’s taped up good so he should be able to do what he normally does. The good thing is he isn’t really a scorer. This injury would affect someone like Brunson more. His finger is going to hurt like a mofo but he should be able to do what he does. Probably not as good
I think he also typically uses his other hand for most things besides maybe free throws and layups lol
I have had this exact injury and also played basketball with it. It is more accurately a hand injury and the amount it affects your gameplay depends on the size and nature of the fracture. For me, I played the day after I broke the hand and it was swollen and extremely painful to play with. I couldn’t dribble, pass, shoot, etc. without being in extreme pain. It was definitely still possible to play but I was there more for my defense than my offense. It was also hard to fully open my hand.
All of this to say, it is certainly possible to play, doubly so for someone like MRob, though it might be quite uncomfortable. If he can fully open his hand to the point that he can still rebound effectively I think there will probably be almost no difference in how he plays given the fact that he is wearing a brace instead of a cast and it has been at least a week or so since he injured it
Imagine if his free throw percentage goes up with that finger brace🤣
Good thing he’s not a shooter cause…
Good thing he doesn’t shoot or dribble in the game lol
Like Thomas Ian Nicholas in ‘Rookie of the Year’, Robinson will show off a totally reconstructed jump shot post-injury, and enjoy increased range and shot distance.
Offensive rebound threat from hell
generically engineered in a rebounding lab facility
And injured but even then, on the rebound.
The clip I saw of him shaking Mike brown’s hand (a firm handshake) was the most encouraging.
I’m almost surprised it wouldn’t be standard protocol no handshakes unless the doctors told them you can’t do any harm to it
He’s actually using his fingertips to shoot in these clips so I expect him to actually shoot better from the line
I’m rooting for Mitch.
If I were the Spurs I would try to put him on the line asap and see if he can shoot FTs. If he miss the first two, should definitely hack him.
that just puts the knicks in the bonus which is a really bad disadvantage
Jumper looking smooth. He’s going 5⁄7 on midranges and 4⁄4 from the line in game 1.
Ain’t gonna matter. Spurs in 5.
