[Highlight] 41 years ago Kareem became the all time leader in career playoff points scored.
People talk about playoff greatness all the time, but staying dominant long enough to own a record for decades is a different level entirely.
Kinda. It’s more nuts what LeBron did to this record.
I love me some Kareem skyhooks!
Why every 7 footer doesn’t add the skyhook to his repertoire is beyond me. If you can pull it off, it’s virtually unguardable.
Because it’s an incredibly difficult shot to make consistently and most dudes that tall don’t have the touch to pull it off
When I was a kid, I was absolutely terrible (and small), but a hook shot was the one style of shot that I could make with at least SOME consistency.
Something about my shitty coordination, trying to use two hands on the ball was too much for me.
Coaches told me to do this and that, and situate my hands and arms thusly, and square up to the basket and bend your knees and jump at the right time and all of that…. But it was just too many moving parts for me to ever be comfortable with. It was WAY easier for me to just say “Fuck it, I’m throwing it up there with one hand, like it’s a baseball.”
A lot of centers had hooks in the 90s too, it’s something players stop doing.
I’m 40 and when we were kids, almost everyone could do it.
There’s a game here called 21, and if the other guy threw an airball, you could take a hook and it was 4 points.
Kareem’s longevity was so absurd that generations of stars came and went while he kept adding to records that seemed untouchable.
This is what Wemby needs in order to reduce energy usage in offense. Make as little movement as possible and choreograph your moves similar to a dancer.
Kareem just said he’s rooting for Wemby and the Spurs in the finals in his newsletter funnily enough.

That’s so cool! Thank you for sharing that
The year is 2047, Wemby hits a corner 4 to surpass Lebron’s record after being the second player in history to break 50k career points. Young 22 year old 9’4 Xi’An Gregorovich Johnson is the first 9 footer to survive the bionic spine transplant and is looking to take over the league as an up and coming monster that no one knows how to stop.
Why hasnt anyone else built the skyhook into their game? What if Wemby masters it…
It’s much harder than it seems I believe.
I can hit the hook off the dribble, from 30’+ or center court and a skyhook is just beyond me: that hard
What do you do against that just hope it doesn’t go in?
You commit an extra defender and swipe at the ball during the shot and before it gets to KAJ shoulders. That’s how they played him in his twilight years and it works bit
just block it
Just need to be 8ft tall

LeBron took the number one spot like 9 years ago.
Did anyone call him the GOAT after this?
Man was 1-18 3PA, didn’t have a 3 for a decade, and still did all this
Wemby is the true heir to the throne not the false king.
Still denying LeBron’s greatness in 2026 is the funniest thing ever.
It’s a joke my guy
