[OC] r/NBA Playoffs Game Thread Analysis: Thunder vs. Spurs sets new records in total comments, comments per game, swear word rate, and single most up voted / down voted comments for the 2026 playoffs. Also there was a series in the East too I think. See reports on both here!
Just for fun, I’ve been attempting to scrape all the comments and posts from r/NBA throughout this entire season, enabling me to calculate fun stats like:
I am sad about how they shook out, but I’m back nonetheless to share the results from the Conference Finals! Here are the reports from each completed series so far:
Series
---
New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Detroit Pistons
Series

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio Spurs
The Thunder / Spurs series has clearly cemented itself as the #1 series of the playoffs so far, at least going by this data. After game 7, it’s at the top of the leaderboard in total comments (218,932), comments per game (31,276), and profane language (1.95 swears per 100 words). All five of the busiest 10-minute stretches of the playoffs so far (see this post for an earlier look) are also now from Game 1 or Game 7 of this series.
The Knicks / Cavs series actually set one new record as well: it was dead last in ref complaints, clocking in at just over 3%. There wasn’t really much to complain about given how much of a beatdown it was.
I am gonna do one last post once the offseason starts, which will include the finals report and the final standings on what teams commented the most, complained the most, etc. Thanks for reading!
