When this happened I thought he was running weird and thought he may be hurt…I’m now realizing he was somewhat timing his steps to be able to contest at the right time.
to be honest that has nothing to do with “timing his steps”, as he is waaay behind the play, there’s nothing to “time”. He needs to be close enough in the first place to be able “time” it. He was laboring a little.

Once the ball was passed and Wemby crossed half court, he only took like 4-ish steps to slow down, change course and close out on that shot.
He effectively makes it from the middle of half-court to the baseline 3pt line in less than two seconds.
In one second, with two strides, he goes from the middle-top of the 3pt line, with the ball ahead of him halfway to McCain, to being in front of McCain just after he released his shot on the baseline.
This contest only works this well if you’re Wemby lol

There was a moment late in the 4th when you’re down 6 that SGA was able to penetrate and I thought it’s going to be Wemby’s 6th foul. Was very surprised he opted for a kickout pass.
