OP does imply that Brown counts as the coach in 2017 though (kinda does but also kinda doesnt). This post is about black coaches facing off in the finals and Mike Brown being in 2 of the 4 instances it has occurred and indicated 2017 as one of those instances

I feel like the number of former big time players turned coaches will be really low especially mid-long term. If you went back 20-30 yrs, players would retire and go into coaching not only because that was the thing to do, but also because the guys didn’t made as much money back then and getting another big check post retirement was nice. So you had the likes of Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson coaching. Those were the main guys of the 80’s. However now, there is no way in hell I can see LeBron, KD, Curry and the current generation going into coaching. Those guys already made so much money that they don’t need the hassle, hell, even mid level players are getting over 10 mil a year. If you are a oldtime vet, chances are that you have already made enough dough that coaching isn’t really worth it. I feel like going forward the only players coaching will be there ones that didn’t make it into the NBA so they started trying to move up the ranks as an assistant.

It’s cause reddit/this sub is a high majority white and black people are probably the 3rd highest after Asian. You can tell by how they react about certain topics that theyve had little to no experience in real life with those topics.

Comment that really showcased it for me was I called Draymond stupid for his slave comments and someone (Presumably white) told me that of course a Boston fan would like it if we went back to the 50’s even though I am black

Tbh the nba fans aren’t ready for a woman as head coach. If the team isn’t successful people will attack her on the basis that she’s a woman and not anything basketball related

Do you think the NBA players would respect a female head coach? I know there are assistants and women who work closely with them. If it was like a Dawn Staley I can see it

Somebody is going to have give Nakase a call. She’s just too good and she’s worked on a NBA staff before. 

Her mid game adjustments are incredible. She can win without stars and the teams scouting is top notch.

She’s the best coach in the WNBA by a mile and honestly shes better than half the dudes in the NBA.

Have you talked to any actual Filipinos about these guys?

Zero hesitation claiming them and rooting for them based on race and nothing else.

According to Google, the league shifted to a black majority in 1970-71.

Is that not a factor on why there are more white coaches? A lot of coaches were former players like phil, riley, rudy, pop, carlisle. Now that they’re aging out, more black players come in to replace them.

Obviously there are other factors but the more prominent winning coaches in the league were former players.

How long until we can just not make some big deal out of whatever race is coaching in the finals? I feel like this just undermines the goal of everyone being equal when a black coach being good is treated as the exception. I get celebrating the first time or two but like, we gonna do this every time a minority is succesful in sports?
