the 2018 rockets are higher with 65 wins + 11 playoff wins totalling up to 76 wins

I mean we went 0-4 vs Celtics last year and then beat them in the playoffs. I’m sure nearly every other team can name an analogous example they’ve been involved in. The regular season is becoming a genuinely poor signal.

the fact the Spurs had 62 wins is more relevant imo. it’s not surprising that a series between a 62 and a 64 win team went to 7.

Eh, I’m not sure if it was really the Spurs being a bad match-up when the series went 7 despite OKC missing their second best player. Had the Spurs won in 4 or 5 then sure, but it went down to the wire with all 3 of OKCs wins coming by double digits. That doesn’t really scream ‘kryptonite’ to me.

The mid season NBA Cup was Spurs vs Knicks. We shouldn’t dismiss regular season results, so the Knicks will also win the NBA Finals.

there is some higher signal as one was the semi final for the nba cup, thats a way different environment than the regular season. tbh i think they should just say fuck it and add another post all star break or something, they’d prolly wanna be a little more creative than just copy pasting the exact format but whatever. my eyes gloss over during that regular season still other than the play in tournament, and all star weekend is just a circle jerk at this point.

Im sure if amount of extra games became a concern they could set the schedule up in a way that all teams have a matchup left vs their potential opponent post tourney and that matchup just gets flexed out in favor of the extra one’s results or something.

It shouldn’t be dismissed but it also shouldn’t be overvalued either. Spurs were untested in the playoffs so it was valid to have a few doubts coming in. They got lucky getting just the right match ups to ramp up their game leading to this finals appearance. They had sloppy halves against the Blazers but eventually figured out the speed of playoff ball. Wolves showed them a new level of physicality to overcome. And OKC pushed their endurance to the limit. Round 1 Spurs don’t beat OKC. Think that’s why their run is extra special imo

Eh, I think Williams being hurt seriously messed them up. Your #2 guy, scoring wing changes the series drastically. Someone on the Spurs is dropping in scoring/efficiency if Williams is guarding them and he adds a consistent scoring threat that allows SGA to operate more freely. The Spurs were able to just terrorize/bully SGA all series and it took it’s toll in the end, even though he had a great Game 7. Also, Mitchell being hurt was huge too.

I think they will probably look to consolidate some of those role players. I think you’re fine with Hartenstein, Caruso, other Williams and Wallace but some of the other guys feel very one way like Dort, Joe, and Wiggins. Daigneault throws out these lineups that have SGA and 4 defenders and puts an ungodly amount of pressure on him.

The real issue is Chet. Big boy has to step up and get better. Not just because of this series but his consistency. I watch games where he’s a beast and is vital, but then there are waaaay too many games where it feels like he’s disappeared and not a factor. He has to become consistent. I think he has the ability to change the dynamic of games drastically, but Jalen Williams is the true #2 to SGA because he actually shows up consistently.

Presti also needs to think about Castle and Harper too. They will only get better. I think it is time to panic as the Spurs team already proved they are better this year.

The Spurs will be everyone’s kryptonite. This isn’t exclusive to OKC.

Nah OKC kryptonite was Chet’s lack of growth as a player. 

You’re kidding yourself if you think they are only OKC’s cryptonite. They will win the finals in 5 games or less and probably make it back every single year for the next 5.

Wemby is great for stopping our drive heavy team, but I think if we play again. But it’s hard to say a team is another if goes to 7 while there missing a couple guys.

Well duh, you don’t blow up a team when you barely lost. If it was a 4-0 blowout, then sure. But it wasn’t.

The only people that should be demanding Chet to be traded are fans of other teams just so they can see the Thunder fall even more.

I mean it’s not an overreaction. The way he played has nothing to do with his skill. He just mentally collapsed. You can’t be a 7ft 3rd team all nba dpoy level player and take 2 shots in a game 7 and that’s ignoring the other 6 games he basically did nothing. If you can trade Chet and get Giannis, you do that yesterday.

The biggest reason is Tony Brothers. Spurs won without fox, but they couldn’t do anything when the refs were also against them.

I used to make fun of tin-foil hat people claiming refs are bought and silver wanted to make this series go to 7 games, but after the tony brothers’ masterclass, I started to doubt. It’s the first time ever that I’m seriously considering some behind the scenes shady deals with the refs.

And the Pacers would have won last year with a Healthy Haliburton.

Hard to say for sure, neither team were healthy the whole time.

Thunder were fully healthy at home in G1 and still lost with the Spurs without Fox, on top of him missing G2 and being hobbled for a few games afterwards. And not to mention Harper missing half of G2 and being obviously slowed in G3.

Do you think the okc would have made it to gamr 7 if both harper and fox weren’t injured and playing through and our bench was kn the same level as okc?

Healthy goes two ways. I think spurs probably would’ve swept with a healthy Fox and Harper.

Pacers likely think that about game 7 last year. Or golden state when kd went down againt toronto (and klay). You play with what you have, for better or for worse.

You all could have won this series regardless, was a toss up.

There will never be a time when teams are 100% healthy. By the playoffs after 82 games, Everyone is fighting small injuries by now. Most just play through them cause they are significant enough, but still are not 100%.
