I really hated when people try to act like its only fringe online-only people. Among everyone I know, nobody rooted for OKC, even people who only watch the playoffs hated them. I would love a count of how many times an OKC player hit the floor, because they were doing it on offense and defense. Just terrible to watch.

I think that’s the funniest part as a fan. We are 1000% outnumbered to a massive degree lol. That’s just small market shit though. But for heartland sports, basketball isn’t a big priority compared to baseball/football. So it’s a smaller minority within that too.

It’s parallel to how the Chiefs/Royals fans got treated after their first chip (Mahomes and SGA not comparable - Mahomes a different breed). In a region with no real professional sports besides a handful of teams, we latch on to what we got. Good or bad.

I will say that the dubs had a huge backing from other fans up until KD joined.

They were still the darlings. Because they were playing a style nobody else really could and they were doing it with style. Plus Strph and Klay were very likeable while Draymond hadn’t full gone super villain yet.

The spurs may be loved right now but like most really good teams(for an extended period) they too will build an army of haters.

If the Spurs win this year, people will hate the Spurs by this time next year. The Spurs being this good this young could lead to another Warriors situation. The current cap rules make it very difficult to keep a team together long term though.

It’s like watching an episode of Law and Order where a very clever defense attorney gets their client’s murder charge dismissed based on a bunch of technicalities.

It’s honestly kinda annoying, because when they aren’t trying to pull some bullshit, they are actually fun to watch. Their ball movement is top tier and Shai’s midrange game is something almost no one else in the league can replicate. They don’t need to pull people down to the ground or fall like someone hit them over the head every time a shot goes up because they’d be an awesome team without that stuff, but they do it anyway because they aren’t punished for it. They’re the nba equivalent of the douche bag in the left lane of the interstate who’s doing 95 riding someone’s bumper because they want to be going 100.

Thunder’s whole game plan is just to game the system. They gave the MVP two years in a row now to the guy who is the best in the league at working the refs. Thunder couldn’t even win a game against the Spurs without refball. Everything about OKC is revolting they deserve the hate.

When Shai was balling in the second quarter I was thinking “man, it really is a joy to watch this guy go to work sometimes”. But 10 minutes later he did that egregious jump into the defender and flop to take free throws and I remembered why I don’t want him to win shit ever again.
