Giannis Antetokounmpo

His perimeter game has shown improvement, but he still has the tendency to play really small on both sides of the floor. Given that he just finished year 5, I can’t see that changing. I was really impressed with his facilitation this postseason so I’m leaning in the “don’t want to trade him” camp, but if we got the right return, I’d find it hard to be too mad

I’d love McCain in wine and gold. I know Chet would probably be part of the deal so McCain would be unlikely, but a man can dream

If you can get Chet plus picks or Jdub plus picks you stay competitive in the east while having flexibility to go after other big names now with trade assets.

I don’t think Cleveland wants to move off of Mobley but if a god father offer comes in and this core has reached its peak then you have to consider it.

They got stomped by the Knicks, but it was after two drawn out series and they made the ECF. And Mobley played really well in the playoffs. There’s absolutely not a reason to trade him, unless it’s for some godfather style offer like what the Thunder got for trading Paul George

They traded a young Garland for Harden. Who knows what they will do with their younger players. I hate his contract, it’s a good 10 million too high per year. But would love to have him.

They don’t, it says so in the article “[…] but Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman insisted in an end-of-season news conference that Mobley wasn’t going anywhere.”

It makes no sense and comes down to the Cavs impatience with their re-build around Garland and Mobley in favor of guys that can’t actually put it together in the playoffs (Mitchell and Harden).

wtf are you talking about? Mobley was our most consistent player these playoffs. Still needs to be more aggressive and work on his handle but most Cavs fans were happy with his play this postseason

Getting Giannis would demand something like trading Chet right now, at his lowest value while he’s still young and still has potential to develop. Even if he never overcomes the barrier that made him shit the bed on game 7, we are still in a position to play him for a while and see what happens rather than throw away the investment. It’s the same about Jdub being injury-prone or not. Makes no sense to make a move involving those two right now when even if it all fails we are still looking at them eventually going for a better value for us.

Everything else just doesn’t get enough value to get Giannis while still making any sense

Skill aside he’s way too much of a moody drama queen to be happy in OKC and as soon as the first thing goes wrong he’ll be leaking reports to the media how he’s unhappy and he wants Presti to make a move so he can play “competitive” basketball. He pretty much strong armed the Bucks into blowing up their future to keep him happy and now they are a dysfunctional mess.

He’s a lot better than Chet.

He’s just a different version of Chet, similar strengths and weaknesses but still a good player. They play a pretty similar game and will fill a similar role. I’m not sure why everyone else thinks he’s way better than Chet, maybe it’s just recency bias with how bad Chet was against Wemby.

I agree with this. We had a tough 7 game series without dub and Ajay. Topic and sorber are still here too.

We’re young enough to run it back one more time healthy and see where we stand without truly wasting anytime because we can 100% win when healthy. Just a rough year with injuries.

If we stayed injured or Chet / dub suck then yeah move on and build with these assets.

This year being injured is actually important in our future and it sucks we didn’t win it all again but I think it’s good in showing where we really struggle and who might be expendable

How do we get Mobley without Chet though. Doesn’t make sense to trade JDub either

If I was Presti the earliest I would even entertain the idea of trading Chet is sometime next season when he’s on a hot streak.

Mobley did the same thing at Chet’s age. I just think Mobley is more ready to win than Chet. Mobley has also been a lowkey wemby stopper (as much as you can be).
