Wemby “I’m worried for the opponents in a couple years. Everywhere.”
Wemby is a psycho, crying because he lost to the Avengers is some GOAT shit
Wade’s quote on him:
“Wemby wasn’t happy, bro. He was pissed being on the podium getting that silver medal. When I saw that, I was like, I like this young fella right here. He ain’t happy to be here. He ain’t happy to get the invite. He wanted this to be his party.”
meanwhile Jokic and his whole team were blasted drunk from partying by the time the medal ceremony started lol
Winning bronze feels way better than silver.
actual research that supports that fact. silver lost the gold. bronze avoided getting 4th place. that simple
Yeah I mean it would make sense considering you get the bronze medal after a win and silver after a loss. It would be weird to be partying after losing a game.
It really do be like that sometimes
It really doesn’t to anyone that’s actually ever won both lol
Commenting like you have any actual insight lmao
You never competed in anything? I have earned plenty of gold, silver and bronze medals and I can tell nobody liked bronze better in any of the sports I competed in. It’s all bullshit based on how happy people look on the podium. Of course bronze medalists would look happy at that point, they’ve had time to process the loss of gold while it literally just happened for the silvers.
You can also just realize this by noticing how poor quality the bronze games often are compared to the semis, with the exception of people/teams that never ever placed anywhere close to that and know they will likely never have a chance again.
In the context of the Olympics, it’s not that uncommon, especially in a single elimination format. The silver medalist is coming fresh off a loss while the bronze medalist won their 3rd/4th place match (which is also the difference between medaling and not medaling).
I agree. On the podium bronze looks happier because they had time to process things and are just glad to be there, but any athlete would take the silver in the long run.
ok wade was spitting with this one
lol this entire olympics was rigged to get France to the finals. The Japan/France and Canada/France games were a complete farce.
He was gifted a silver medal, I’m not sure there was much to be happy about
Japan/france was rigged. The canada game was fairly won by france though.
What happened with Japan France
You are sad
All that stuff they were saying in trying to console him — I know in his heart–he was having none of it!!
Subtle detail but I also just noticed him covering up his silver medal while talking to the media. He’s a sicko.
Thats why we love him. Couldnt have cooked up a more perfect basketball protagonist
He nodded along about being proud of your teammates but like totally shut out the notion of being proud of himself lol
Pretty mature of him, not allowing his obvious displeasure at losing overshadow his teammates and their freedom to celebrate/expression what they felt. That’s a healthy way to “lose angrily” and all that fire you get from that becomes internal fuel, not external accelerant that can burn others. Not to mention he stood still and listened to everyone trying to console him. I’ve seen some superstars shut out everyone around them after a tough loss
Yep for sure. You can hate losing but can’t use that as an excuse to be an asshole to your teammates.
(I do not condone MJ punching two different teammates)
I can just hear MJ saying “but did we win our next game though” lol
(No clue what games these would be, I just imagine he willed everyone to victory because he was a psycho that way)
“And I took that shit personal!”
Probably him after every loss
That Steph Curry heat check demoralizes anyone
Curry got the French announcers calling him the Devil
I watch the highlights from that game sometimes when I need a pick me up. Better than a cup of coffee.
All all-time great in any sports has that psycho mentality in them. They have this great ego amd belief that they are the best.
He needs stamina and strength training by Coach Thibbs. Thibbs will break him then rebuild him like he did with the Knicks. Then Wemby will be truly fearsome to everyone he faces
nationalize Castle, Harper, KJ, Julian, Kornet and Vassell and add them to the French team and by 2028 they have a squad
Château, Arpeur, Jeansonne, Champagnie, Cornette, Vasselle
lmfao at one of these names staying the same
Yet I could hear the different pronunciation lol
Pronunciation will need a complete rework though
Lmfao
Mdr ca m’a tué ! Château et Champagnie sont trop drôles
😆 literally LOL right now
The French Foreign Legion strikes again
Fuck no! We need castle and Harper in the US.
Harper playing for the 🇵🇭! 😁
Phillipines with Harper bros, McCain, Jalen Green and Clarkson isn’t too shabby.
damn thats a death lineup if they have a competent big
Bolbol time
He said competent
How many of those actually have citizenship
Clarkson does through his mom and he’s played for the Philippines at FIBA in 2023.
He’s not even a citizen and I doubt they make the Olympics
Never gonna happen lol
Best I can do is Kylian Hayes
If Melenchon he might actually try it
What would be the blow back of a star player doing that (while still continuing to play in the Nba and living in the US).
They may have a shot regardless tbh, LeBron and Curry ain’t here for this next one (I assume)
Luka only being able to get Jaxon Hayes is hilarious.
He’s got that Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Michael Jordan type of competitiveness. Obviously he has the measurables and skill. But I think it’s been a while since we’ve seen a player this good be this ultra competitive. He’s visibly more intense and competitive than LeBron, Kawhi, Joker, SGA, etc.
Visibly for sure, but I think Lebron is definitely a psycho himself, you don’t simply play at this level for 23 years, age 41, still going strong and being the best player on the court against MVP level players at times. I mean most of us would be like “fuck it dude I made bank, I have investments and endorsements that will make me bank even I do absolutely nothing for the rest of my life, got my family and life set, I don’t actually need to work my ass off, spend hours and hours before and after the games, travel to all these games and play at high intensity anymore”.
LeBron is on another level man. He wasn’t just the nervous system of the teams he played on, he managed the nervous system of every single one of his teammates by simply never showing fear, anger, doubt. That pure unadulterated calm, 23 seasons in a row, just means that he never allowed his psycho to show. Remember, this guy was playing the role of an unconditionally loving father-captain for men 10-15 years older than him at many points in his career.
LeBron keeps everything inside, and shows only what he wants to show to get the desired effect. He’s a controlled pressurized container of intensity, don’t get him twisted lol. The dude was built in a lab. Doing what Wemby is doing is kind of easy, because he’s being honest and vulnerable. LeBron has been literally perfect in his emotional posture at every level, every era, every dimension of his career.
Its hard to fathom, but he might actually be mentally stronger than he is physically gifted.
Dang bro lebron got that father figure in him
I think the difference is guys like Kobe/MJ/Wemby wear their emotions on their sleeve. You can tell they are authentic about their emotions
Lebron is more calculated about his emotions, which I think rubs people the wrong way
I think Lebrons biggest weakness is missing this energy actually.
Bron is such a superhuman he hasn’t needed to find that Jordan level of petty motivation.
Yeah people take Lebron’s jolly vibe and not being an asshole as somehow not being competitive.
Timmy slapping the floor energy but every game.
Visibly maybe and sometimes a sore loser but to say that LeBron etc don’t have that level of competitiveness is crazy
Mahomes is cooked, he doesn’t deserve to be in that convo. Mark my words he will never be back to the Super Bowl
Im gonna be honest, Mahomes was always overrated anyways. Josh has been the better qb for ages (Id say since his 3rd year), he just had the worse team and no refs on his side.
Recency bias is so funny
You can think im wrong all you want, but this has nothing to do with recency bias. I have thought this for like 6 years.
just gotta regress to the mean bro
Best post of all time. Brady didn’t always have the best regular season stats but he found ways to win in the playoffs. Mahomes is the same thing
In the history of the NFL, only 6 qbs have ever won at least 3 superbowls. He was a huge reason why he has those rings. Calling him overrated is insane.
Allen flops more than Shai
‘no refs on his side’
ahahahahahahah
100p. When it came time for him to play the real GOAT he got smacked down like the rest (except Eli)

I love Wemby. This thread is about Wemby.
Let’s not gloss over Brunson.
Both psychos. It’s about to be cinema.
Lol nice try bud.
No way Wemby does a choke job like the 2011 NBA Finals. He would go down swinging.
He would go down swinging.
This might constitute a problem for him given the precedent
Lebron has never had this mentality. Wemby has the MJ Kobe Tiger mentality
The guy who came back from down 3-1 against a 73 win team and won game 7 on the road doesn’t have this mentality? Same guy that has been competitive enough to play more years and games than anyone in history? Come on lol
He doesn’t bite his jersey or make enough mean faces so therefore he lacks the coveted killer instinct. /s
He’s great. But mentally never a Kobe, MJ, tiger type. Thats fine, Duncan wasn’t either and they both won a lot. But it’s a very different mentality
“Tiger type” this some mall ninja type shit.
I have no idea what a mall ninja is
I am.a huge Duncan fan. I love Ginobili. I like Dirk, Bron and Kobe. Just so you know where my point is coming from. I don’t think anyone can have sustained excellence for a long time like Bron or Duncan without being competitive. Few of them show it out and for few it burns inside. Both are fine in my opinion. It doesn’t make them any less competitive or weak mentality. Its just different
Did I say weak? I said both work fine
My point is they are not different. They show emotions differently. Especially when we talk about how competitive the folks with outward emotions are, it is a disservice to those players who don’t show the emotions the same way. May be I am missing the point completely, which is highly possible 😅
I think they are definitely different in mentality. I wasn’t saying one is better or worse.
2011
Tom brady is not like this. And frankly none of this matters. If comes off as immature and childish. You lost. Move on and get better. Stop looking for attention and whining like a bitch
Kid : “The team you’re playing - Steph Curry, LeBron James, Kevin Durant - it’s the strongest team I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t want to play them.”
Wemby : “And that’s why no one will remember your name”
This clip boutta go triple platinum in the wemby documentary
La dernière danse
The Last France
France Le Finale
Wemby said “ima go fuck their league up 👿”
Wemby might cause a massive shift to the position much like Shaq; the C position is evolving again
NBA execs and scouts to France: “ya’ll got any more hyper focused and freakishly athletic super tall guys?”
(I realize Jokic exists but he is kinda his own position)
Honestly, Jaylin Williams did a great job on him yesterday. I don’t know that big 7 footers are necessarily the answer. Wemby is on the wing way more often than the paint.
yeah stocky power forwards have been the best answer so far unless you’re Giannis. there’s just not enough athletic 7ft guys that can keep up with him.
Ihart did well too, so there is certainly a place for a true center.
Neither a 6’8’’ or 7’0’’ can block wemby, so being able to keep up with him laterally and make him work for position probably is the key.
That’s exactly it.
There’s a reason people in this sub keeps asking why he isnt in the paint. JWill and Hart are pushing and bumping him nonstop to go out of the paint.
Yall remember when this sub was questioning why he was shooting so many threes? Paid off here. Nearly 50/40/90 in this series lmao
wait until Wemby comes back next season with a midrange game lol
I think there is another level to unlock in SAS offense. If they do some high-low or some picks in the lane, wemby could get cleaner positioning and passes and take advantage of smaller defenders.
I’m pretty sure scouts have been looking for >7ft for a while now. I’m not sure what else they can do except develop nurseries where they feed NBA babies hgh and high protein diets for their childhood.
Yeah I kind of doubt there’s this hidden trove of 7’5 guys who are coordinated and extremely athletic
shaq still has high praise for bol bol
Hes gonna get a million dudes drafted high but theres likely just him. We might get another in like 30 years but for now you just cant get this kind of skill and athleticism out of a dude that tall. Thats without adding in his competitive drive
I mean athletic Giraffes that can be 3 level scores and a psychotic dedication to self improvement don’t exactly grow on trees.
You can’t stop him by just getting an ideal matchup because it doesn’t exist. You need a lanky dude to guard him on the perimeter and a thick dude to guard him in the post.
I don’t wanna sound like a homer but CMB did a good job on him.
You have to counter Wemby with either speed or strength. Getting another Chet is useless
Yea all the 7’6” guys I know who can move well and have touch around the rim are planning on trying out for an NBA team soon
EVERYWHERE
Dude already became a fking legend.
Yeah we might be fucked next Olympics
It’s okay we bought the refs for LA. Scott Foster will be reffing every U.S.A. games
SGA might have a word then
From my observations the home crowds and refs in Paris helped significantly in the Olympics. Let’s see what kind of team France can put together in 2028.
Idk man we finally seem to have more American talent entering the league again. We already have Ant and Flagg and now we’re getting AJ, Boozer, Wilson, and Peterson.
Yea those guys definitely make up for losing LeBron, Steph, KD, AD, and Embiid
Watch it just be geriatric Bron kd Steph again
Wemby is a 7’5” that has the same work ethic as a 5’3” trying to make varsity
Such a fucking gamer
What documentary is this?
Court of Gold on Netflix. Great watch
Thank you!
Maybe Wemby’s hurdles have come now. All of that “he needs to lose to learn how to win” stuff happened in these international games. Maybe that’s why his first playoff run led him to the Finals. Idk. I do know that I love the competitive nature.
This is only his third season, and he’s just 23 years old—not even close to his prime. He’s already on the verge of winning an NBA championship. If he stays healthy, he absolutely has the potential to become the most dominant player in NBA history.
He’s only 22, he doesn’t turn 23 until January next year. (Born Jan 4, 2004)
Big if. No other player his size has avoided serious injuries
No other player his size also took care of his body the way he is. It’s like how Lebron pioneered longevity through disciple.
My man said I AM INEVITABLE
Goosebumps
Wemby’s competitiveness is on the Jordan / Kobe / KG level of tenacity. I love it when athletes are this passionate about their sport.
All notable assholes in real life.
Hi.
They do have a solid group of NBA players now.
This what great players separates them to others. They play with their heart out!
Wemby really gives a shit bro
I think the greater take from this is Diaw’s words to him. It’s a strong lesson for all of us in life, and it shows more of the Spurs culture that Wemby seems to have been born with.
Unless things change, USA will probably lose in next Olympics. They needed the whole ass avengers to win
He’s got everybody worried now
He watched Curry beat them with the contested deep 3, so he decided to add that to his game.
He hit the 32 footer in WCF Game 1, and the half court jump shot in WCF Game 4. (That was not a heave.)
cant wait for him & coop to go at it in 2028
What a message by Diaw. I love that man.
Go tell them.
Avengers versus pre-infinity stones Thanos. This man was devastated after failing to solo LeBron KD Curry Ant Embiid and AD as a rookie.
Victor Wembanyama will return in…
The San Antonio Spurs: Endgame
What I love the most about Wemby is how he hates losing. It’s not the flashy buckets, the crazy blocks, how he’s more a 7’5 PG than a center, etc. It’s just his mentality, his mindset.
Imo that’s what differentiate the greats from the all-time greats, and wemby is one his way to become one. Like gobert once said in itw, with this kind of focused mindset at such a young age, he can only become an all-time great player.
He’s going to dog walk the Knicks isn’t he?
This tournament was rigged in France’s favor since they were the host country.
Japan had France beat hands down and the refs gifted France with the most egregious 4-point play off a non-existent foul you have ever seen with 10 seconds left to let France take it to OT instead of being knocked out. Never forget.
Pray for my opps
The ending theme sounded like I was expecting something like “Victor Wembanyama will be back on Avengers OKC Doomsday”
I admire how much this man hates losing and loves winning.
Great advice from Boris Diaw, amazing player and human being, I hope he sticks around the french national team to give some wisdom
Yall gonna be hating hard on this spurs team soon. Mark my words. Spur fans are great though!
WNBA watch out
Wembys mom is white? White women don’t get enough credit.
