Give me Wemby’s raw emotion over the “nonchalant superstar” archetype any day.
Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’ve never understood why being nonchalant about winning MVPs, championships, or big games is considered cool.
SGA is the first player that comes to mind, and Jokic has that same “I don’t really care” vibe, whether it’s genuine or not. It was funny at first, but I’ve found myself appreciating players like Wemby way more.
Seeing how much the game clearly means to him and watching him show real emotion after big moments makes him more relatable to me. These guys spend their entire lives working to reach this level. I don’t see anything wrong with being fired up, emotional, or openly invested in winning.
Everyone expresses themselves differently, but I’ll take raw passion over nonchalance every time.
