Congratulations Jeremy Sochan! Your 2026 NBA Champion!
He played for Spurs to start this season, was waived and then signed with the Knicks after the all-star break.
Miss you Sochan!
His hair was the heart and soul of that team it was sad to see him go
I think spurs have enough hair lol
The Cas-sell/Vas-tle duo have that covered.
They are called the Pineapple Express
Wemby sure agrees
i was at a clipper home game and this one dude sitting next to me just spent the whole game screamin at sochan
Thank you for your sacrifice
I don’t know why that’s so funny to me
Lmfao reminds me of the jazz game I went to where this guy would not shut up about Talen Horton-Tucker. Pretty much every possession “COME ON THT!”
I get he has a cool personality but he’s one of the most useless players I seen in recent years. I guess he showed promise as a Swiss Army knife guy in his first seasons but he never developed a single thing. He’s not good (not even great) at anything. He’s alright at passing and defense and absolutely sucks at everything else
I don’t! He was one of the worst when it came to icing out Wemby his rookie year.
Relax with that. He caught way too much flak for supposedly snubbing him. Wemby acknowledged that it honestly takes time for teammates to adapt to playing with him.
Damn, bro gets a ring either way, the true winner of all this.
Genuinely the greatest dynasty starts after you player ever. He deserves a ring for that
He deserves one for dealing with the season before Wemby, then getting vilified (rightuflly so) in the first season with Wemby and then getting out drafted from his position. He got a shit ton of flack but his defense was always great even in those horrible seasons.
No rightfully so. Jeremy didn’t do anything wrong.
Agreed here. Fans and media were hating but Jeremy got through this keeping his mouth shut, while doing everything asked of him without ever complaining or showing how challenging it was for him.
And he was one of Wemby’s closest friends in that team from the very first few days.
Class act. I have only love and respect for Sochan.
PG sochan was something
Bro never passed the ball to Wemby.
Its like Benji Molina in baseball. He was getting a ring either way with the Giants and Rangers
Or Andersen Varejaó a decade ago because he played for both the Cavs and Splash Bros.
Dion Waiters of all people too lol, that year y’all won in the bubble he started the season with the Heat and ended it with the Lakers, would’ve got a ring either way
Didn’t Varejao decline it though?
Now my son can proudly wear the 9 different Sochan shirts and Jersey’s he had me buy over the years.
It’s like when Slick Rick of WWF fame was asked who would win if Butch Reed and One Man Gang had to fight each on the WWF championship tournament that night. As the manager of both men, he simply said “I’d win.”
Man is guaranteed to have more rings than James harden
Or Carmelo Anthony.
Or Cooper Flagg
MARIO CHALMERS > CP3
But sometimes you get Wario
Sun Yue > Yi jianlian
Man yi was nice, hasn’t heard that name in a minute
Hey you joke but Chalmers was a nice role player until he tore his Achilles. He really seems like a guard the Thunder would have, scrappy, always hustles, hits big shots.
Super Mario Chalmers basketball career since grade school is pretty damn elite
And no one would rather have his career than harden’s
Guys like Shai, Harden, Embiid etc won’t be remembered fondly
Well Shai has a ring
asterisk
Agreed fully but at the end of the day SGA is still a great player. Flopping antics pmo but he is still a great player.
i agree, he was great tonight
Yup that ring may be Shai’s but it was sized for Haliburton. The narratives would be way different for both teams if Indy ended up winning.
But it isn’t. We are where we are. If he keeps his play up but doesn’t win any more trophies, he’s still back to back MVP, NBA champ, and Finals MVP. That’s a plenty of credentials to make hall of fame.
Really? I think the opposite. I guess it depends on how far into the future you want to go. But like could you tell me the problems that stars from the past had? I could barely tell you what teams Oscar Robertson were on. Much less something super specifc like that.
Ya I’m trying to think of the oldest player that was and is still hated for how he played
Wilt is the best I can come up with. But I definitely think he’s the exception to the rule.
Harden
My flair says what it says (and he’s certainly on my shit list at the moment) but I actually think in about ten years people are going to be much easier on Harden than we are right now.
Idk I think opinion on Harden has already softened. Embiid hardly seems hated tbh he’s been injured so much and he mostly gets shit for that. Some day ppl gonna see Shais MVP and the championship and forget or soften the details
That beard alone will make people remember of Harden. The other two yeah not so much
bro is gonna play (or be on the bench) in a tanktop with sunglasses and sandals
Pulling up to MSG with a shirt that says “Ring Me”
Gonna give inspirational pre-game speeches about having what it takes to carry TWO teams to the Finals
A ring is not the same as being a champion. The lakers gave Demarcus cousins a ring, he is not recognised by the nba as being a champion. You have to be on the winning teams roster and be playoff eligible.
Fans do this all the time cuz they’re cheeky but yeah, lol. Anyone who is remotely competitive enough to be an athlete is not satisfied with a box being checked that they technically got a ring if they didn’t really contribute for it.
Maybe today but in 20-30 years it’d be cool to tell your kids you got a ring
In 30-40 years you can tell them you started, and in 50 years you can tell them you won MVP
Found Brian Scalabrine’s burner
That’s finals MVP Brian Scalabrine to you
If there was no Internet he could be walking around when he’s 70 telling people he hit the game winning shot in game 7 while flexing his ring.
Didn’t varejao declined his ring that one time when he went from cleveland to golden state and the cavs won
Yes but then he did accept one the year later when he only played like 20 games and then retired.
Anyone who is remotely competitive enough to be an athlete is not satisfied with a box being checked that they technically got a ring if they didn’t really contribute for it.
I’m sorry you felt that way. Tell us lowly fans more about the time you got a championship ring you don’t feel you deserved.
I would appreciate the gesture. A championship is a whole season of effort and contributions by every player and member of the staff. It would to nice to be shown that the team still recognized my contributions and helping them get there. I don’t know if I would accept though.
ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?
Scalabrine was on the Celtics roster in 2008 and therefore is recognised as a champion, I don’t understand your point.
Listen to what Scal said lol. It was a joke, but whatever.
I did, I just don’t get how it applies here. His kids can look up and see “NBA Champion” next to his resume, which Sochan won’t have if the Spurs win, even if they give him a physical ring.
Same in baseball; we fans see Clayton Kershaw as a three time champion but OFFICIALLY by Major League Baseball, he’s only won two World Series because he wasn’t on the 2024 postseason roster.
All about subjective optics and what your personal opinion is on that player, including Boogie and his 2020 ring he himself thinks he didn’t “earn.”
a charity ring as they say
*looks at empty hand*
Gimme the charity ring!
Fans of woe-is-us clubs like the Suns, Clippers, and Sixers would rather have a “charity ring” than none at all if it meant their team has any ring to begin with.
I’d like to see an argument against that, especially from that [dumbass Lemon Pepper Lou.](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/IfQaRYoclb)
Counterpoint: RINGz ERNEH!
True. But also, hardware is hardware and it’s permanent.
By playoff eligible, do you mean they have to be active for the playoffs? If so, then someone like OG Anunoby is technically not a champion because he was inactive for the entire 2019 playoffs
No, players signed after a certain deadline aren’t playoff eligible, meaning even if they were active they aren’t able to play.
Inactive players are recognised as champions even if they don’t play if they are on the roster before that deadline and remain with the team.
Cousins having 1 more ring than Divac is funny
TIL rings are unofficial and a lot less special than I thought.
Per nba rules, does he actually get a ring if the spurs win?
if spurs win and spurs want to give him a ring then yes he gets it. But if spurs win they can also choose to not give him a ring
Spurs will 100% give him a ring it’s not even worth discussing
Yeah Sochan still close with the guys. Wouldn’t surprise if they hangout offseason.
Ikr, if the Spurs are anything it’s classy to its players no matter what.
I thought Raptors would 100% give the ring to JV as well.
Pop will make sure he gets one
Oh yeah? What if he punches Wemby in the face during the finals?
Will 100% offer to give him a ring
He can still refuse it like varejao when he played for both the cavs and warriors when they were both in the finals
You learn something new everyday, thanks!
at least its not Portland lol
What about Portland now?
owner wouldn’t pay for a ring for a player that’s not currently rostered
Oh yeah that’s definitely true haha
Not sure he’d buy rings for current players either. Probably just a nice towel or jacket maybe.
They’d get one of those elementary school paper awards lol
They each get to pick one toy from the prize chest.
you know what
I think Condon would let him have a ring if the player were to pay for it.
(No discounts though. Possibly a mark up. Ok definitely)
I mean I don’t think they will be in this situation anytime soon
They might even give a ring to CP3 lol
Wait!? Since when has this been a rule? I thought it was mandatory that they give all players from that roster rings.
But does it count when talking all time accolades ?
He can get a ring but will not be considered an NBA champion as you have to be on the roster. It’s weird.
There aren’t any rules for who gets a ring, it’s up tot he organization. They can give you one if they want.
The nba just covers the cost for 150. The organization ponies up for the rest.
150? That’s cool. I would’ve assumed it just covered the squad and coaches but 150 means chefs, masseuses and admin staff get ringed up.
You hear and see team tv announcers and radio guys talk all the time about their championship rings won by the players/organization.
Does that mean if the Knicks win we can give a Ring to Daryl Morey?
Analytically, yes.
The team can give him a ring if they want to, but wont be listed as champion officially
I don’t think there are league rules. It’s up to the team.
Could end up randomly declining it like Varejao did in 2016
If SA wins I hope he takes it. He was an important part of the team. A favorite among us spurs fans too.
He was our tank commander. Won’t draft Castle, Harper or Bryant without Point Sochan era.
He instilled that hate and readiness to throw hands in Castle. Sochan deserves a ring for that alone lol.
And give Spurs fans the W gif & Fuck Houston quote. Miss my Polish Prince
IF SA wins I hope SA also wins at home against the Knicks next season when the team gives him his ring and the Spurs MAKE Sochan beat the drum. He was as much apart of this run as any other Spur still on this team.
Varejao is (obviously) a much better man than me because I would’ve accepted it. Maybe not worn it, but definitely would’ve taken it.
The Red Sox offered a ring to Nomar after he was traded and they won the pennant. IIRC not only did he accept but he wore it often lol
Varejao not accepting was weird. He went through a lot in Cleveland
He probably will take it since he’s a free agent and likely won’t be back with the Knicks anyways.
It’s what I would do. I would detest being given a charity ring by the team that beat me in the finals.
Suffering from success
woooo a reminder to watch the polish rap song about sochan with 20 million views somehow
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RspDppBZumA
Thats the most amazing thing ive ever seen. Looks like the guy from the offspring is a polish rapper now.
Well… this is a thing
He’s all over polish gatorade equivalents from what I remember when I was travelling. I thought it was hilarious
Basketball is still popular sport in Poland and barely anyone cares about national league so Sochan just being in NBA is probably the most popular active basketball player in a country. Also I think that sports drink deal was signed long ago, like when ppl saw Sochan as player with big potential. Like besides football (soccer) and Świątek in tennis we don’t have many great candidates for sport endorsments so Sochan is obvious choice if we talk about basketball.
Annoyingly fire lol
I… I mean… what??
2016 Andreson Varejao
2026 Jeremy Sochan
Can’t believe we’re about to get Spurs vs Knicks finals for the next 4 years.
Steph Curry is finally coming to Knicks as were promised.
Sure, he can be 6th man behind the GOAT ;)
Hey man at least it’s not OKC
Although I don’t know if there will be anything left of Manhattan after those 4 years
2017 Kevin Durant
What would happen if he was waived before the trade deadline? Spurs would still be able to give him a ring right?
Rings aren’t really any official thing lol. Spurs can give one to basically anyone they want for any reason. The custom is widely that former players get them, especially those that performed this season.
The Spurs could give me a ring if they wanted to.
Damn already a champion before game 1! Congrats Sochan!!
Happy for the polish prince
you don’t mess with the Sochan
Someone needs to stop him he can’t lose!
Playing both sides so he always comes out on top
Imagine being so good you got both teams to the finals.
Teague said that Sochan probably isn’t enjoying his time right now because he will most likely not get a decent contract after this, if one at all. It’s an interesting perspective. I guess NBA players think about this stuff differently.
I can see it from that view. It would kinda be like my team at work doing well on a project but because I didn’t have a role in it, I don’t care about the recognition.
He had to of known there was a chance he wouldn’t get much playing time by going to the Knicks. He likely just wanted to live in NYC for the vibes but he should of went to the Kings or somewhere where he would have played during his contract year.
Imo Sochan will still get a chance somewhere. He’s a good defender and still only 23. Someone will take him just in case he may have random breakout year.
Sochan cant lose right now regardless of the outcome.
He’ll get both a winner’s and loser’s trophy. Unprecedented !
sochan will get dunked on by carter bryant in garbage time.
He’s not guaranteed to get a ring. It’s up to the team to decide if he gets one, should the Spurs end up winning.
If you want proof, ask Jonas Valanciunas
The Spurs will without a doubt give him one if they do end up winning
or Bones Hyland
Ahh no wonder why the spurs locked in and became elite, every time I watched that dude playing big minutes for them it was very much the “you ain’t winning shit with this guy on your roster” vibe, no hate he’s just not good
He just horrible at the one thing you can’t be horrible at in today’s league and that’s shooting. If he was even a below average shooter he would be at least a decent role player as he does a lot of other things well.
Was watching him warm up before one of the Knicks/Sixers playoff games in Philly (which let’s not get into the game itself, sigh) and he has the weirdest hitch in his shot, it looked so ugly.
Have any other players played for both finals teams in the regular season?
We’re probably going to be hearing this a lot of the next couple of days huh?
Real work
POLSKA GUROM
The biggest winners of the NBA so far:
Jermey Sochan and all NBA fans who hate how the Thunder play basketball.
Sorry *played
That’s not how it works
“Yeah, fuck Houston” - Jeremy Sochan, Legend
This is the type of insight I’m looking for!
Wonder what his contractual bonus was to win
art of the deal
Well say for example the Knicks lose are they really obliged to give him a ring and would he take it?
No obligated. It’s am optional gesture a team can make to a player that contributes during a championship season.
In 2019 Jonas Valanciunas was traded to Memphis for Marc Gasol before the trade deadline after spending over six seasons with the Raptors. He was well liked in Toronto and even had TV commercials for a local pizza franchise chain. It was sad to see him go but Marc Gasol’s defense was instrumental to the team’s run.
People thought Jonas was going to get a ring but apparently it was vetoed by Kyle Lowry.
I wonder who the last player to not play during the playoffs but still get a ring is?
I read that Jonas said Lowry had texted Jonas and asked him what’s his ring size was and Jonas said that made him hopeful he was getting one.
He is a free agent and probably won’t be on the Knicks next year so he probably will take it. On social media he still talks with the Spurs players so he’s likely cool with everyone still. He did put in a lot of time on the court before this year and was a fan favorite.
Team decision. Just like how Raptors didn’t give a ring to the people they traded away for Gasol
this is on the Spurs if they’re willing to give him a ring. However, given Sochan’s relationship with the team, I don’t doubt they’ll give him a ring
So you’re saying there’s a chance
Its 9out of 10 chance
Watch they have him guard Wemby. Because if not…then who?
With Wemby out there it’s almost like the Spurs are playing 6 on 5 on defense. Sochan’s a horrible shooter, if he’s out there it will be like 6 on 4.
yeah I’m just trying to figure out how the Knicks could handle him
Win-win for him lol
Why don’t more players just play for both sides. Are they stupid?
Sochan Bowl 2026 and I’m here for it.
I liked him on the spurs im kinda sad he won’t be there if they win
Ah yes, the anderson varejao effect (although he rejected his eventual ring i believe)
He is 2026’s answer to 2016’s age old question: Who is your Anderson Varejao?
Catch shots of him on the bench this entire series with a serene ear to ear grin
if the spurs offer it and if he accepted it. i doubt either of those things happen if the spurs win
What?
[deleted]
Oh good for him. I miss him, tbh.
Please stop with these lame ass posts. Unless the Knicks win the championship, no one will say Sochan is an NBA champion. It’s entirely up to the Spurs if they give him a participation ring.
