Not the biggest Shai fan but I feel like saying this takes away from the actual difficulty. I think this was probably the best defensive coverage a team has run against a star in a decade +. Castle is an elite isolation defender then having wemby as a help defender too? Then also having harper / vassel guard you aswell? That’s significantly harder than the average double team.

i think the difference here is that even if you get pass the double its wemby in the lane, this spurs team is legit and their defense is only going to get better i assume. i think in a couple years this series wont look as bad on shai as it does now. Dort was legitimately so awful in this series. Easily the worst offensive player even accounting for Chet’s disappearing act, and nowhere near making up for it on the defensive end - Caruso and Wallace were both much better on that end. Both ends. Could not believe that he was never taken out of the starting lineup. He at least had his minutes cut towards the end of the series, especially in late game scenarios, but he did so much early damage to the Thunder at the start of halves in every game that it was too little too late

On one of the last possessions of the game, Shai attacked Wemby who had 5 fouls but bailed on it, just go for it and see what happens.

He had like one very bad sideway flop but other than that, he was REALLY dominant in the 2nd~3rd quarter, hitting shot after shot even over Wemby. Probably his best playoff game this year.
