Game 1 vs Denver (2025 WCSF) - OKC won series in 7

Game 1 vs Indiana (2025 NBA Finals) - OKC won series in 7

Game 1 vs San Antonio (2026 WCF) - Series now headed to Game 7

In all three series, OKC entered Game 7 coming off a Game 6 loss by an average of 19 points.

Thought this was a cool stat. If the Spurs win in OKC tomorrow, they’ll become the first team since the start of the 2025 playoffs to eliminate the Thunder after stealing Game 1 in Oklahoma City.

Obviously Haliburton’s injury is an important piece of context when looking at the Indiana series, but I still thought the pattern was interesting, small sample size and all.

This is just a 2 year thing and small samples provide you with the worst possible outcome when you try to repeat.

All series has its own history.

For example, nobody expected OKC to drop those game 1s, but in each of them we had some heroic/historic performances: Jokic and Wemby dropped a 40+20 kind of performance, Indy pull the classic 2025 Indy comeback…

Then in the Denver and Indiana series they went down 2-1 and found a way to win game 4 on the road. This time OKC won game 3, then got crushed in game 4 and 6. The game 5s are kinda different too.

Denver almost got the Thunder in game 5, with another brilliant performance from Joker, but fell short with Russ and Murray shooting them out of the game… instead vs Spurs and Pacers the Thunder won easily in game 5.

All in all I don’t think we can really say there is a pattern based on 3 series in the span of 2 years. It is not like MJ never went to game 7 in the Finals thing, which at least was a 6 years stuff.

OKC demolished the Nuggets but the Pacers win was due to Halliburtons injury. They only won by 12 despite that and it was largely due to that 3rd quarter run. If you take out the third the Pacers win by 2.

I dont think this is a large enough sample size to really show anything on how the game will go, I think the refereering will largely decide the outcome like it has every other game this series.
