[Lowlight] Shai Gilgeous-Alexander misses the point-blank scoop shot to end the second quarter
What even made him fall?
Him realizing he was missing the scoop
He was born with jelly for legs
It’s his shooting motion, find a new slant
Mark daigneault.
I know most of us hating here but actual answer I think is he felt Castle touch him and he tried to sell the contact.
Yea I hate SGA antics, but if youve ever been in the air, you’d know that it’s pretty easy to be moved mid air even with the lightest of touches
True, but these guys are in the top .0001% of athletes so it’s different levels
Not even gravity takes credit for why Shai falls to the ground.
Tony Brothers giving gravity a flagrant
Hes just trying to do anything to get points on the board before half lol
The fall was cartoon-esque. Like that coyote and roadrunner cartoon, I’m sure there’s a scene where the coyote gets tricked to fall off a cliff
Himself
Disliking actually playing the game of basketball.
Always be selling
The vicious hit that he took
Gravity.
Was he pushed by Castle at 0:03-0:04? Happens really fast
He was clearly pushed?????
He got pushed, I think by Castle
San Antonio prison ball
If he just focused on staying balanced and making the layup, strong chance he makes it. That’s what makes watching him all the more frustrating, he doesn’t have to do this
Easily the biggest reason why it bothers me is that Shai clearly has the skills to be a top 5 guy without all this bullshit. His bag and midrange game is absolutely elite and he’s great at basically everything else, why not just lean into that?
Top 5 without flopping? Nah
He seems pretty good
It’s hard to judge, imho, seeing all this BS he does. He takes away from being a great player.
I genuinely don’t think he does though? If he is not doing this, his efficiency is going down, his free throws and therefore, the points are going down, and it would allow the defenders to defend him like any other player rather than with their hands tied behind their backs. He is great don’t get me wrong, but he would already be 5th at best automatically given we have Wemby, Jokic, Luka, Giannis. But its possible a couple others get past him without this stuff. His numbers aren’t top 5 numbers right now anyway with the fouls so idk what it would be without them
People don’t want to admit it that aspect of his soft whistle is defenders can’t really get up on him like say they do against Ant or other guards. I think he’d be top 10 still but definitely not considared top 3 like he is if he didn’t get the softest whistle in the league.
Leaned too much and just toppled over.
His bag and midrange game relies on push offs and the rhythm from the FT line. I can get over the push offs but it’s the exact same shit with embiid as far as the rhythm goes. They get a few FTs and get absolutely scorching from FT range.
You take away either of those dudes FTs and their jump shooting falls apart. He needs these calls to be this consistent
Same with prime Harden. He was an MVP level player skillwise without the foul baiting bullshit. But he just couldn’t help it.
he won a championship lmfao. why would he play in a way where he scores less points and is less difficult to guard?
But when he’s not getting the whistle, this kills his efficiency
1 game away from the finals clearly its working
You know, maybe if he focused more on shooting instead of falling, he might’ve not been 6⁄18 tonight
I’m not telling him what to do lol
This is just a reddit comment about how I find that aspect of his game very annoying. Athletes maximize their skills and exploit loopholes to win, that’s not new. I just don’t like it
I said this exact same thing the other day and got downvoted into oblivion, I guess it just depends on where you say it in the sub
Clean jump, lands on two feet, just falls randomly
Don’t believe your eyes though you’re just imagining it
no you don’t get it, he’s falling to stay healthy
The Tyler Lockett method
You’re delusional - Thunder flairs
eVeRyOnE dOeS iT
He’s trying to draw a foul to score points to win the WCF. Big fan.
Isn’t falling literally taught to players when landing to avoid getting D-Rose knees?
that explains why he does it every time where there is no mid air contact
Yeah I’m not even trying to do a gotcha or whatever, I specifically remember there being discussion about going with your momentum when landing to avoid wear and tear on your knees.
I’m not saying there aren’t theatrics involved either to be fair.
Maybe when you’re raising up to your peak vertical and dunking. Not when you’re just attempting a common layup.
Problem is the frequency with which he falls, its like every play even when there’s no need for it. I’m sure in some cases it helps his knees, but he also does it because in general it helps him get calls
Embiid does the same thing. Look how much time he spends on the ground when he actually plays
SGA isn’t nearly as explosive as D-Rose. Like not even close.
There may be circumstances where falling may reduce injury, but there’s no way falling on nearly every shot attempt does. To suggest these are injury-prevention flops is ridiculous.
Is Shai doing a hop step here? No
That’s not the point lmao. Holy pedantry.
You compared it to Derrick Rose’s injury genius. Good to know you use buzzwords and just started watching basketball 2 years ago
Speaking of pedantry have you ever looked up the definition of a cockwomble?
He’s been making shots when he stays on his feet is maybe the funniest part of all this
That step back he hit on Carter who gave him 0 inches of space was butter
But then he does this shit
Not him throwing his hand up while on the ground lmao
It reminds me of when Mahomes or Josh Allen flop and throw their hands up looking at the ref while they’re mid-air and falling
Yup, he’s looked great. Which is why the flopping is so annoying when he does it.
Air ball and flop. This is your MVP?
at least Westbrick had the decency to clank his layups off the rim
No Westbrook slander allowed here.
OKC Westbrook was putting the ball through the rim by force. Those basketballs needed therapy.
Literally wide open and Wemby didn’t even contest but he was concerned more about getting FTs than making the shot lol
He saw Wemby get ready to jump so he got shook expecting to have to shoot over him. He was in the inbetween phase
this is legitimately what happened lol. this is one of the most understandable times a player has lost his balance ive ever seen
Prime Dwight Howard did this to Ray Allen in ‘09. Ray couldn’t shoot for the rest of the series after getting blocked once by Dwight. He hesitated and ran from the paint every single time he thought Dwight ‘might’ be around. Some people can’t handle being blocked emphatically and Wemby has been casually blocking everyone this series.
It’s been the key so far today is they’re back to being terrified of Wemby’s presence
wemby didn’t contest because he knew he’d do anything in his power to draw the foul
just throwing himself around. disgusting
FLOPPER
This is your MVP? LMAO.
Man’s gonna flop on anything now
SGA’s playoff highlights once he retires is going to be hilarious. Dude is either flopping/falling or shooting at the FT line 😂
Absolute clown
super lowlight
It’s like when he jumps his legs go on cooldown
Bro thought he was Luis Scola
That is not my MVP that’s for sure
God damn what a flop
Always manages to wind up on the ground
Don’t think he flopped but I do think his shot arc was short because he expected contact and his momentum carried him forward
He missed because the focus was the flop
His momentum did not carry him forward, he’s in full control of his body until he feels Castle touching him and goes flying lmao
He lands on his left leg and the forward momentum led him to the ground far away from the play
Castle does not land anywhere close on his left leg, you can literally slow this down to 0.5x and see
He’s fully in control until he feels Castle’s arm and just goes flying
I’m saying Shai landed on his own left leg
The refs will make it up to him in the second half.
Laughed WAY louder than I should have.
I welcome him to prove me wrong but it looks like he’s in his own head rn.
Bryant ran over him twice on the defensive end for no real reason and he was surrounded by defenders, could be why
Generational talent
Almost every clip I see of this dude is him ragdolling like a Skyrim death animation, what are we doing here
He stuck the landing though
He’s smoked a few layups so far. Not a good performance so far for a closeout game.
It’s like the Thunder in game 6 just forget how to basketball
To the top with this embarrass this clowns play style
I was so upset because they gave him an open driving lane. This result was so much better lol
Why did Shai fall like that? The hell? Looked like someone shoved him to the ground but it didnt look like it.
Too focused on the fall lmao
Shai’s lucky he’s light because this is why Embiid can’t stay healthy
Legit pathetic playstyle goddamn man you’re a pro athlete you can stand on your two legs
Philopper
Castle came about as close as Shai did on that shot attempt.
you never know if you’ll land on someone’s foot in that instance. always a good call to fall forward instead of risking an ankle turn in that traffic.
His muscle memory is literally falling to the ground after almost every shot or slight contact. Remember when the NBA said that flopping will earn you a technical and they enforced it for maybe three games at the start of the season a couple years ago?
2 time MVP btw. That’s crazy.
My MVP would never miss a shot
What a bum! We all know how easy it is to score on a straight line drive against Wemby! Flopper FLOPPER FLOPPER BUM SPURS REFS haha
Spurs get away with a lot but there isnt a foul there lol
Are we gonna just act like Castle didn’t shove him to continue this narrative?
Where’s the foul? Fix is in obviously
There was no foul called here bro wdym
Smartest oklahoma resident
Hey, we’re not all idiots. Some of us have double digit IQ’s
Castle pushed Shai over but sure add it to the fall %
You GOTTA share what you’re on because I don’t think theres any world where you can believe this. Like literally 0 contact and space between them lol
Does he need to get in the weight room? Light contact shouldn’t send you flying
He’s already full speed going forward. Not sure if you’ve ever run before but the slightest contact will send you flying. Hope that helps.
I guess he needs to do some coordination training then? You should be able to keep your feet under you during a full speed jump under light contact. We see it all the time in the nba and nfl
Why do other players not fall as much when driving and getting contact then?
Castle definitely touches him, wouldn’t call it a push by any means though
Lmao?
l o l
He did but it was extremely marginal
