[Highlight] Carter Bryant trucks SGA on consecutive possessions. Called for the foul on the second
Super lucky that wasn’t flagrant. I love Carter but bro, that was a little much.
His dunk was hype.
Seems like a really emotional player
He’s still a rookie I noticed in the previous couple games as well hes a bit over eager.
I mean look at him, he’s like 12 years old in the face
I heard he’s the same age as Jayson Tatum
When Jayson Tatum gets out of AAU he’ll be way better than this
He’s making rookie mistakes. In a previous game he looked like he was literally going to cry after messing up pretty badly. I think he’s a good player though. I’ve seen him play well but he’s still basically a kid and has a ways to go to shore up that game.
Golden retriever rookie
He definitely is. It’s always the boys who post Bible verses on insta who play mean and reckless, lol.
He’s our rookie that plays like a rookie.
He just gotta get his emotions regulated but physically he’s a damn hoss
Nah it was warranted. Sga has gotten away with flopping for far too long.
The physicality talk this year has made some player believe they playing football
I thought it was just right.
Yeah I’m not seeing the problem. It was obviously not intended to hurt the guy but with how many “fouls” SGA has received this was expected after some time right?
Most people were saying this should be happening, even talking heads due to the circumstances of the flopping right?
Magic fan saying this is the most unsurprising thing possible. You have the dirtiest team in the league. They don’t even foul for an advantage, they do it to hurt a player for sport.
Average Dort non foul
“A little much”
Hahahahahaha
Trying to imagine if JWill full speed Madden hit stick’d Wemby what people far and wide would be spewing right now.
Role players doing their role.
Yeah, I get going in attractively for a rebound attempt, but just bulldozing prior is pretty reckless.
Bryant would’ve made a hell of a linebacker
Never had the makings for a varsity athlete
Sharp as a fucking cue ball this one
for this he missed the Jets game??
Small hands, that was his problem
He was gay, SGA?
Sick reference, bro. Your references are out of control. Everyone knows that.
Nah. Full back. If a linebacker does that on the blindside of a dude, that’s 15 yards. But a full back can lead block like that all day. Plus he doesn’t have a linebackers size. 😜
New Dort model just dropped
I know SGA has his reputation and all but you genuinely have been lobotomized if you think this is a flop
I don’t think a single human actually thinks this is a flop, no shit fans in the arena will chant flop though at everything he does
i’d look at some of the other replies before saying that
Heat fan is not a human he’s an AI bot that comments in every thread first second
And, he ain’t even a heat fan.
I think you underestimate the stupidity of some people
You should hear my fantasy football group chat the one dudes like “Shai flopped like crazy he saw him coming and prepared his fall” like come tf on
Look at some of the shit takes on this sub before thinking that. Plenty of people think it was a fine basketball play
i don’t know how people don’t understand this. it’s the same thing with the chants in OKC. I feel like people just want the home crowd to boo their own team.
Yeah but this is another +1 to that totally legitimate ‘fall’ stat
I mean, if he’s gonna fall anyway, might as well make him earn the foul.
Definitely not a flop, but also not a flagrant. They made a good call.
How is it not a flagrant to truck somebody twice in a row? That’s not a basketball move and has clear intent to harm.
Trying to crash the offensive glass is a basketball move nerd
He didn’t even attempt to get a rebound
This series they upgraded Plumlee and Ajay’s to flagrant. This, especially it being twice in a row should have been a flagrant.
No one thinks it’s a flop… we’re all just happy it happened
Some of these people aren’t too bright. I think this is dirty though.
Spurs have been allowed to be extremely physical this game.
The league really wants a game 7 after the boring ECF.
There was an ECF?
Yeah, but it ended after the Cavs took a 22 point lead in game 1.
Analytics
They were the better team
Analytically
They’ve been extremely physical every game tbf
The whole series is extremely physical
With the way people talk here you’d think it’s only OKC doing it and that Spurs are the most ethical of all lol
The way people have framed the Spurs vs. Thunder as “good vs. evil” in this series is the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen
I think the fall % thing is the stupidest shit, and that’s probably second lol
As a wolves fan I hate them both
How’s Cancún ?
Hey, we got two French centers our team, you should be rooting for us
if theres one thing the french know, its how to hold a grudge.
It feels like I’ve taken crazy pills sometimes. It’s so tiring seeing all NBA spaces in Reddit inundated with “Wemby might be the goat already and is close to ascend into goodhood” posts when the Spurs win and with “The Thunder, the NBA and the freemasons have conspired to kill all the babies in the state of Texas and to steal the joy from the game” when the Spurs lose
All the casuals and bots will be upset when they realize they are also rooting for a villain
Still better than OKC winning
Castle and Vassell have been playing NFL for 5.5 games now if we’re being honest
Castle did it all during the 2nd round too if we’re being honest
Everyone was doing it in the second round. That series was tough
Then why are Spurs fans surprised when physicality is being called against them? Feels like some of the physicality is being weaponised when they’re literally benefiting from it too?
Pot, kettle, black.
Because in this round its being allowed in one direction. I dont think fans would be as mad if the refs were being consistent or if SGA wasnt so obviously baiting FTs
Castle was doing it against Blazers too if we have to be honest. Spurs went through a lot of physical teams in this playoffs.
To be fair that’s kinda how the Thunder play defense. Physical off ball and then pull back around the shooting motion. Castle is a bit overboard currently but he’ll probably get it nailed down and be a nightmare defender in a season or two
Straight up using two hands on defense. Not even trying to slide their feet. Not sure how they getting away with it
Castle in game 4 was comical with the outright hand checking
Same as Caruso for the whole series
I know SGA gets calls but Castle has been giving him the Steph treatment on off ball defense. This entire series has been physical both ways
Thunder been doing that with Wallace, Dort, and J Williams for 2 seasons now
I know this is pointless cause in y’all’s mind Dort and Caruso literally beat guys to death with hammers every single possession on defense but straight up delusional if you think it’s been anything like what’s going on this series. I couldn’t care less about the calls or non calls but I’ve never in my life seen anyone be allowed to guard like Vassell and Castle are
Only thing that comes close to me is how the Pacers were allowed to guard Brunson last year. Caruso also had some extremely physical moments last year against Jokic but I’ve never seen guards allowed to defend other guards like this. Maybe Delly against Curry.
Yeah and they called Brunson a flopper last year. I know. I argued with them.
Now the Knicks are darlings this year, and people are saying how “ethical” the Knicks play. Fuck that shit
Nesmith was guarding Brunson like it was 1992 lol. I was stunned at how much both he and Nembhard were getting away with
Series has been super physical on both sides, they’re letting them play for the most part and both teams are pushing that to it’s limit
Just us? Both teams have been and it’s good
They called the foul wym, that’s the definition of not being allowed to do something lol
They have every single game lol don’t let these narratives fool you
This game has actually been a textbook example of a crew having no consistency. It was start of the 2nd OKC got a turnover and Caruso was getting reached around and hit on both thighs by Vassell and then Vassell bumps his leg on the shot attempt, no foul on any of that. Literally the very next play Spurs drive to the basket I believe it was Cason Wallace committed the same exact contact on the shot attempt, that got fouled. Caruso immediately went to Zarba and was pointing at his thigh and then to the point where the foul was called pointing out these are the exact same contacts within 30 seconds of each other but one is a foul and the other isn’t. The problem isn’t not calling the foul, that’s fine, but this crew has literally just been flipping a coin every possession and just making shit up as it goes along. They completely lost control of the game in the 2nd quarter. This is wildly incompetent for a Zarba crew.
They seem to REALLY love their elbows, huh?
Don’t change your flair now I recognize that username lol
I said it yesterday. The league want a game 7, so this time the whistle gonna favor the Spurs.
Carter Bryant is the most predictable player on earth it’s insane
he has a dunk, a three, and 4 awful fouls every single game
I wouldn’t call either of these awful tbf.
yeah its not like hes diving at knees
Look at sga looking at Bryant. He sees him and just braces himself to take a dive. Sga was not caught off guard. He saw and was ready to fall.
The Obi Toppin special
A dunk, a three, in the nba conference finals @ 20 years old. My guy has us beat.
Thunder staying cool and keeping themselves in the game
Yeah unironically they are mentally strong
Genuinely the Spurs talk trash on every block or bucket and the Thunder just barely react and keep hooping
Championship experience goes far
Also because the person retaliating usually gets T’d up. It’s better to just keep playing and not give in to the mind games.
Although I will say that Vassel was allowed to do a little too much with the trash talk and the push after the block.
🤦🙋 Agreed. I was shocked the T didn’t follow.
I’m all for jack jawin but it was a bit too much for no call IMO
Yeah, a T there would have been justified.
Honestly it’s the main reason I like them. It’s really noticeable when watching live.
Actually reminds me of the Duncan era Spurs ironically
Which were hilariously called boring all the time.
I find this OKC team reminds me of the early 2010s Spurs and this Spurs team reminds me of the early 2010s Thunder
It’s not a bad comp.
The Duncan Spurs were never uber-athletic, whereas the KD- Russ Thunder defined that.
It’s very weird being a Spurs fan watching them fly over people.
They kind of have to be to block out the whole narrative about them lol
Imagine someone like KD dealing with this social media backlash he’d 100% let it impact the actual on-court product somehow
Arguably it was the main reason he left the Warriors he had the perfect situation to farm rings and probably Finals MVPs but he left because of people clowning on him
i mean, we saw those rockets games after the whole burner account stuff
Seeing Vassel going nuts and I was thinking they better keep it calm.
ya sure about that
This is a part of the championship mentality. They know it’s the first half and they still have time to make a move. The spurs came out hot and flying high but they gotta do it for another half because as shown in this one if they take their foot of the gas just a little OKC will come back
Lmao
That first possession was so funny. Good amount of contact on the drive right before the clip starts, Carter trucks SGA, both fall, Chet trips over ‘em, contact up the floor, and then they call the most random whistle on Castle at the end like “huh, we probably should have done something by now”.
These playoffs have been an absolute joke of refereeing. You can foul the shit out of people if you both don’t have the ball BUT if you fall down when shooting its an auto foul.
Just wait for the finals when they award SGA 30 free throws and the crowd loses their fucking minds
For people who haven’t watched CB all season…this isn’t abnormal. He plays completely out of control most of the time, which works really well when his job is see ball get ball / defend this guy 1:1, but he commits a bunch of fouls like a Golden retriever chasing a ball and not caring at all about what’s in the way. Cleaning this up and playing at 10% too aggressive / on the edge, rather than 35% too aggressive, is a big step to him getting better.
I feel certain coach told him, ‘go out and make sure sga’s fouls are fouls’. Tactfully I think it was a good call, with alot of upside circumstantially. Just bc silver put that interview response out on the surface, doesn’t mean behind the scenes he didnt do anything.
I would be inclinced to agree if Bryant didn’t foul every 2nd time there’s a chance for an offensive rebound, he does this exact move. If you watched all his playtime this season, you would see him shoulder check a stationary defender while going for an offensive rebound about 50 times at least
he had one game this season (post season?) where he fouled someone, and had already fouled again on the inbound before the camera cut back to the action. he’s incredibly frustrating sometimes but simultaneously very easy to love watching lol
When I was younger this is how I played. I knocked a lot of people over. Now that I am old and slow people just move way before i get to them ;)
If any Thunder player did this and it wasn’t a flagrant to Wemby, it would get 20k upvotes lmao
This sub has been more deranged than Twitter/Tiktok this series, and that’s an incredibly high bar to reach. Insta stays undefeated though.
Yes and it would be blasted here with different angles
yeah it’s honestly crazy 😂😂these thunder haters have made this series so much less fun than what it is
From what highlights get upvoted you’d think the Spurs are up 3-0 lol
Also any time the Spurs win: “man that officiating was so great right guys? Truly incredible, bang up job by the GOAT refs”
any time the Thunder win: “worst officiating this side of the Big Bang. Basketball has been reduced to atoms. Donaghy would be proud”
This is probably the most disgracefully biased I’ve ever seen r/NBA, even moreso than OKC-LAL or last year’s Finals. It really makes me wonder if a huge portion of it is astroturfing, and if so, why. Or maybe it’s all just herd mentality/echo chamber bullshit
Spurs nephews are all 12 and started watching ball on tiktok 2 weeks ago. They have no idea what they’re talking about but at that age they talk shit like we did 20 years ago on Call of Duty.
We been watching the Spurs forever, tf?
The fuck? The Spurs have one of the more knowledgeable fan-bases in the league. I guarantee this isn’t the way they want to see their team play, but clearly the Spurs feel like this gives them the best odds, so the fans roll with it. Nothing unique to them at all.
This might be the corniest thing I’ve ever read
Calling any fanbase, let alone the Spurs, a knowledgeable fanbase is hilarious ngl
The way a lot of them defended the elbow was very knowledgeable. Not likeable tho.
They’re like Chiefs fans that started rooting for them cause of Mahommes. Give it 3 years and everyone will hate Wemby and the Spurs
I dont really understand how you can straight up run into somebody and truck them without it being a flagrant. But sure
Ethical tackle
It’s the 4th time it’s happened this series. All 4 have been pretty intentional but only the foul on Jmac got the flagrant call, but we had to wait for the league to review and change the call on that one too. SMH
How about pulling someone’s hair ?
Like what Wemby did this game?
This is incredibly poorly timed.
You mean like this?
Lol at this guy complaining about no calls
spurs are actually trying to kill SGA
Insert Donald glover meme
Seems like that should have been upgraded… didn’t know you could truck the other teams best player with no consequence
What people don’t want to recognize is that the NBA does have an agenda but it’s clearly been trying to push this series to 7 rather than being specifically pro-OKC like the main narrative is
OKC absolutely got a great whistle in game 2 when the Spurs could have gone up 2-0 but the same in reverse applies for the league not wanting OKC to go up 3-1 or end it in 6
There’s a reason the most well-reffed game was game 1 which didn’t matter for extending it lol
Bingo, ratings are record high, sports shows get to ramble on about this, social media engagement extremely high. This is 200% going to 7
Adam Silver knew it would be 100% exposed as rigged however if he gave Harden a good game in the ECF.
The Spurs are a great team but they’ve been actively dirty this series
as long as it’s ethical
Nowhere near a flagrant foul are we serious
Ethical football
In football it’s an illegal block.
In the NFL that’s unnecessary roughness, 15 yards.
Ethical tackling
Glad they finally called the second one but the spurs are getting away with absolute murder this game lol.
I’m not one to complain about refs but what are we doing? They need to get this under control
The NBA is first off, a business, a sports league second. It’s no secret that Refs are incentivized to push for outcomes that benefit the league’s bottom line. Whichever team is down will get favorable calls all for the sake of a G7, since the league makes a lot of money off of it.
Wow I missed that first one…two is a pattern 😂
25k upvotes if it’s lu dort into harper
He’d need a presidential security detail for the next month.
Seriously strange how people criticize OKC but this is branded “ethical basketball”
It feels like a psyop of seeing just how far from reality you can get a crowd to become
Trying to use basketball to escape the same psyop that is politics atm and then we get this series
I’ve been saying this and they refuse to comprehend this.
I’m surprised a foul on Shai off ball was called. They’ve been fouling him 24⁄7 this since game 1
I’ve seen more clips on fouls in this series than actual basketball highlights
NOT A GREAT LOOK
Clearly was not even a basketball play, he doesn’t even look at the ball
Ran him down and bodychecked him, should be an instant ejection
He did it a few plays earlier and nothing was called
Its like they’re siccing their rookie on him, spurs are dirty as fuck
Yeah I hate this team now
Took so long to review it and nothing. Crazy to me.
What the fuck is this clown doing. I didn’t even catch the first one live.
I just thought they got tripped up . Didn’t realize it was a blindside hit
Refs want game 7, they human just like us
Did anyone post NBC showing that Wemby told his guys to hard foul McCain at the end of last game???
I saw that. Do we know if it is actually true?
No, it’s just people making shit up
This is a bad foul in the NFL and yet it,s not a flagrant in the NBA? If anybody has the refs in their pockets it’s the Spurs lol. After the uncalled fouls late game 1 and countless off ball fouls since, now this and Bumlee’s elbow. I’ve seen the women, OKC has better ones, must’ve bribed them with churros
What’s that Castle quote again? Something about not being allowed to play with the same level of physicality?
They get away with a lot
“Ethical Hoops”
Man i know 60% of reddit wanted Shai to be injured there
Dang, I hadn’t even realized that he had gotten away with it the play before.
The Spurs foul SGA a lot
Insane how dirty they been in the last few games
That was a perfectly normal trucking motion ref!!
The double standards on this sub is expected.
Well…now the refs set the standard. You can literally hit another player hard enough to slam them into the ground and as long as you don’t hit high or extend your arms. Common foul. Nice 🤡
I’ve seen enough, give this man a NFL contract
when will y’all wake up to the fact this spurs team has zero class
There is a cycle, r/nba sweethearts /win/ r/nba villain mark my words.
Spurs are the dirtiest cheap shot artists in the league.
Half the game thread calling this a flop was insane. This is a flag in the NFL lmao
Like I said the other day, he plays like a big super happy dog with too much energy.
It’s like they are over correcting each time. Complaints about the thunder flopping, spurs get 10 more free throws, complaints about the spurs then also flopping, thunder match their free throws. Complaints about too many free throws, here OKC have twelve while your players are getting hammered all game. I just want to watch who I think are the two best in the world play without this stuff.
