Had some time to kill at the end of work and decided to put this to the test.

For game 3 at MSG, the cheapest ticket in the nosebleeds is selling for $3,436.

To fly to OKC on Thursday, June 4 and return on Saturday, June 6, costs $628. Two nights at the Holiday Inn Express in Bricktown comes out to $490. A nosebleed ticket in loud city for game 2 can be had for $1,923.75.

In San Antonio, a room at a respectable Sonesta Suites near the Riverwalk can be had for just $240 for two nights. A round-trip flight is going for $525. To get in the arena for game two, it will cost you a minimum of $2,074.

For both cities, there’s a nonstop flight on the inbound flight but a connection back home.

Factor in an extra $400 for transportation, meals and other miscellaneous expenses, and it’s essentially a wash. Probably makes more sense for people who are closer to Oklahoma/Texas.

Knicks home game: $3,436

Spurs away game: $3,239

Thunder away game: $3,441.75

Two years ago I went to Siakam’s home debut in Indy and despite being against the defending champion Nuggets the tickets were $8 after fees. Sure it was a weeknight game and Hali was out but that’s a ridiculously good way to spend an evening. It’s one reason why the Pacers’ atmosphere is so good, everyone can afford to go.

As a basketball fan yes it was insanely cool to be there for one of the all time greats best games and cross going to a finals game off the bucket list , but the Celtics fan in me was pretty crushed lol.

It was also my dad’s birthday that day, so I took him into the city under the guise of us watching the game at a bar outside the garden to be close to the action and then I surprised him with the tickets before tip off. So that moment alone was enough for me. I gave him a pep talk going into the game that win or lose just enjoy the moment of being there because a finals game was something we both wanted to experience whether our team was in or not.

Overall I’d say it’s worth it , but I don’t think I’d ever spend that kind money again on a game.

I have season tickets, I have play off tickets. There are some people who might do that but not many. I don’t think you all understand how proud people are to get to go watch the Thunder play.

It all depends on how much money it is. And how much it is to you. 10 grand is a whole lot of money to a whole lot of people.

For a lot of fans, that’s literally twice what they paid for their whole season tickets. I’m also a sports fan lol I know how proud people are. I also know how important money is.

This was the case when the Rangers made the finals too. It was cheaper for a friend of mine to fly to Phoenix to see the game with flights and the hotel vs just the ticket at MSG. Wild.

Yeah that’s true in a lot of cases, not just with the Finals. My buddy is a Rangers fan who drove to Carolina to see them play in the playoffs a few years ago because it was significantly cheaper than sitting where he usually sits at the Garden. That wasn’t even the Finals.

It’s just the nature of where we live. Finals tickets are fucking stupid expensive but every round is cheaper in the away arena. The only way it would be even is if the Knicks played the Lakers.

Thankfully the only local team I root for is the Mets. Besides the playoff run a couple of years ago I haven’t had to worry about paying for playoff tickets.

This is a regular thing for a lot of NHL fans in Canada. I believe Air Canada has been chartering flights from Montreal to Raleigh that come with game tickets because it’s cheaper to travel internationally and see a game on the road than one in their own arena.
