A gambling company trying to transition to a media company is using AI (two big societal sins atm) to do what exactly?

If you’re questioning the legitimacy of the game, you’re also hurting your product.

If you’re willing to attack one of the biggest players, more power to you, but if you’re trying to be a successful media company, wouldn’t you want to keep good relationships with the players? There are ways to be critical and entertaining without going to these lengths.

If you’re capturing social media buzz, I don’t think this is helpful either. People are only align because who the target is and who they are up against. The discourse has already spun what has been a great series into mud slinging of free throws, fall % and flops. The “counter jerk” has already began and quite frankly, people will move on the next series, the next thing and the vitality will be all for naught.

Courts generally decline to apply the right of publicity to celebrity parodies. A good example is the Tenth Circuit’s Cardtoons v. Major League Baseball Players Association (1996). In that case, Cardtoons produced parody baseball cards. While normal baseball cards celebrate a player’s accomplishments, the parody cards poked fun at the players for being pampered and overpaid (they “humorously criticize[d] players for their substantial salaries,” for example “Treasury Bonds,” “Ken Spiffy Jr.,” and “Egotisticky Henderson” — respectively, Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey Jr., and Ricky Henderson). The Major League Baseball Players Association (which holds the rights to players’ names, images, and likenesses) sued to prevent further production of the cards.
