They have the fix for this, they just refuse to use it. Start calling flops. They made a rule for it, used it for like 2 seconds and then just ignored it. Use the rule properly and the players will adjust. Also, we need to allow defenders to have their own space again. No more running straight into someone and getting a blocking foul. I don’t care if the defenders feet were still moving a little or whatever, if all the contact was avoidable and initiated by the offender, either don’t call it or call it an offensive foul.

You need to understand this phenomenon isn’t purely a case of Shai flopping so the league needs to step in. A big part of this is butt hurt fans hating on a dominant champ but with the added reach and toxicity of social media. Nah, it’s not, it’s very different. It’s not just attention, it’s the attention with his style of mid range play.

Firsts, the warriors move Steph a ton off ball to get him open, with double and triple screens in a lot of cases. Steph did way more catch and shoot than Shai.

And even outside of that their games when they have the ball are opposite. Curry wants to shoot first and drives when that is taken away. Shai wants to drive first and only settles for 3 when the paint is packed and they force him to shoot over the top.

If they guarded Steph exactly like they are guarding Shai I doubt Steph would get many fouls called because he’d be extremely happy to just take that first shot off the screen that the Spurs are giving up.

SGAs averaged a 18-19% free throw rate on drives, which is more or less on par with anyone else averaging those numbers. Heck, its lower than notably Luka, Reaves, and Harden, and Butler.

Curry’s averaged a 13-15% ftr on drives since 2013. His two lowest seasons were 11.6% when he drove 7.7 times a game. His highest? 15.5% when he averaged 10.6 drives a game. Increasing his drive rate tends to correlate with his best seasons in terms of ftr. Almost as if being more aggressive yields more fta.

And not to mention the eye test. A good portion of his drives are after he’s beaten his defender or from a cut meanwhile majority of sgas drives is off a 1 on 1 or in traffic. Unlike Curry, SGA usually hovers at 80% in unassisted buckets

If we’re looking at points scored + created, he’s gone from 48.6 in the regular season to 52.6. Potential assists have gone up too from 13.0 to 18.2. And hes dealing with all that to an all star level. Hes not been bad but hes not been anywhere CLOSE to the best player in the league level. But being all star level good, showing up 1 or 2 games is enough since his OKC team is deep enough.

multiple times in lakers series he would give ball up being doubled at halfway (easy simple pass..not creating a a clear advantage) and never move or try get it back etc. When he would go to the bench even against Lakers starters OKC would make a run withiout him. He wasn’t even looking to shoot or anything for long periods of games first few games and yet his team was still level or leading

If Luka or Cade or whoever would only take 5 shots in a whole half do you think their teams would be leading still? obviously not.

Also go watch OKC vs Mavericks 2024…and also so many other Luka Mavericks series….. to see how an player can stay VERY effective against halfcourt doubles + defensw blitzing EVERY SCREEN at halfcourt…and teams selling out to stop them.

Anyway it wont matter when OKC win the chip but just saying, hes not been great. hes been okay. Also i fully expect him either game 6 (or game 7 if it goes), to ACTUALLY show up shooting wise. He’s still a top player, I wouldn’t expect him to be like this every game.

Jokic has definitely been on a decline since 2024 in playoffs (2019-2023 was his peak)..he was still great though 2024, and still decent last 2 years but not best player.

While Wemby is only on the up age 22 in his first ever playoffs, thats why. hes young and inexperienced and played like 30 min per game all season. Its understandable that ²⁄₅ games were meh…. yet hes easily been better than sga, and great all playoffs.

Cade and Brunson id probably rate over SGA too this playoffs. even though they were up and down performance wise first 2 rounds too.
