I think he’s trying to say that it’s only a flop if it wasn’t a foul at all - demonstrating you got fouled isn’t actually flopping. Of course, when the NBA was actually punishing flopping they made a point that exaggerating contact WAS actually a flop, even if it was a foul on the opposition, but I suppose this logic is why we don’t see any flopping techs / fines anymore.

I never appreciated David Stern until this guy took over! The gargoyle Adam silver has been such a significant step down from David Stern. I know I am going to get a lot of downvotes for saying that but Adam silver has been terrible. And Adam silver is right it has been incredible, incredibly bad.
I was hopeful when Silver took over that the corruption would at least ease up a little. Stern never did enough after the Donaghy scandal and it’s obvious why. If you think back to discourse about previous champion teams, it was never like this. Have people talked about flopping before? Of course. But it was never quite so focused on a team. The whole ‘wisdom of crowds’ concept makes me think there really is something materially different about the level to which OKC is gunning for whistles.
When a player does it on his own 5 times a game, it’s notable and might get a lowlight package. When at least 5 people are actively shooting for bad calls 5 times a game, it becomes all you can really focus on.
Every other play in their games has shoddy contact that either
A) is a sold foul that is called
B) isn’t a foul but it is called
C) is a clear foul that isn’t called
D) isn’t a foul & the team is punished by a no call (this is where the real selling is, because you can get makeup calls)
