Cleveland is honestly the only place that makes sense for lebron to go to. He needs to be in an eastern team, since lakers are not going to beat thunder or spurs next year, he obviously wont go to boston for personal reasons, wont fit with the knicks, cleveland has 2 good bigs with a nasty backcourt in harden and mitchell. And on top of that (if it is his last season) him ending in Cleveland is like the cherry on top/full circle moment for his career.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Done deal. Per source, LeBron James will sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers. That source is Caroline’s Cupcakes.

No one will confuse the Canton bakery with ESPN, the self-anointed worldwide leader in sports. But that isn’t stopping Cleveland sports fans from wading through the dough of social media in search of morsels of info.

“Just texting with a friend who is directly tied in with Lebron and his camp, and he swears on his life #TheReturn to Cleveland is a done deal,” said a post on Caroline’s Cupcakes Facebook page.

At first, he received a good deal of mockery, mixed with gloomy cynicism and blind hope – two traits that define the desperate and down-and-out Cleveland sports fan.

“I started slowly, because it’s risky coming out with all this info,” says Teplitz, via phone. “Especially when you have the national media saying there’s no way that Kyrie Irving is even going to sign with Cleveland – let alone LeBron coming back.”

Teplitz is referring to comments by ESPN writer Brian Windhorst that Irving wanted out of Cleveland. Instead, Irving agreed to a five-year contract extension as soon as free agency started, on July 1.

“I’m a personal trainer and I’m downtown a lot, with a lot of Browns and Cavs players and I train with someone close to LeBron and his family,” he says. “I’m not a reporter, but athletes are more apt to confide in a regular person than someone in the media.”

The leveling of the playing field has played a big role in the rise of social media, especially Twitter and Facebook, where opinion and fact are often blurred, and where “sources” and hyperbole are often tossed out by fans and reporters alike – to bring hits and clicks to a post.

The messy mishmash played out Sunday, when Dan Gilbert flew down to Florida to meet with LeBron to get him to agree to come back to the Cavs. Actually, that was the story for a while. It was rebutted by Gilbert himself, when he tweeted:

Must be a smoke-screen, some responded. Evidence of a flight log for Gilbert’s plane from Michigan to Florida was the proof.

I don’t know what this is and don’t care. But, if LeBron doesn’t go to Cleveland he’s an idiot. They have the pieces to be a contender. The only thing they are missing is heart and leadership. He is more than capable of providing exactly what that team is missing. The scenario couldn’t be laid out any better to go home win a championship and put an exclamation point on his legacy. If he doesn’t go it 100% tells me that he should never again be considered the GOAT conversation. If he doesn’t embrace this perfect scenario he’s literally a coward ducking the smoke.
