Nah I’ve had my issues with SGA but these are normal fouls.

He flopped maybe once here. But they were all fouls. Seems the NBA suffers from SGA derangement syndrome.

It felt to me that this is where the fatigue set in for the Spurs. Mental lapses trying to toe the line between physicality and fouling. The vast majority of these are just guys pushing him over when he’s receiving the ball no where near the basket.

Castle is an idiot. Just stop hand checking. I don’t have a problem with any of these. Wemby drew that exact same “push in the back while losing out” foul in this game.

i think the only one that is really even agruable that its not a foul was the one in the backcourt catching the inbound. everything else felt pretty cut and dry.

Gotta be honest this really looks like a lack of discipline from San Antonio, especially from Castle and Bryant. So many easy handchecking calls and shoves. Wtf was Champagnie doing on that rebound too that honestly pissed me off when I was watching the game live.

Make a montage of all the shitty unnecessary fouls Spurs committed this game.

The only crazy one was the back court castle one.

Most of the rest were just spurs being undisciplined.

As someone rooting for the Spurs I’m glad these were called fouls. We don’t want these guys body checking, jersey grabbing, and shoving each other with no call. So far in this series if I think a call was bad the replay shows a jersey grab or arm pin I missed live. Foul calls have been solid IMO. Definitely some missed things, but what has been called for the most part is hard to be upset with (if you take a objective look at the plays).

We all know he embellishes to ensure the whistle happens, but all of these were fouls.

Castle needs to be more disciplined. He’s reaching, he’s pushing, he’s running into him over and over. The wrist grab and then whatever after, you are right in thinking it’s a weak foul…but it is a foul, and he would no by now in game 5 that shit doesn’t fly. Arms up, body in control.

I said it in another thread, don’t get all the crying about Shai’s FTAs yesterday. The only calls that could be argued as a bad/soft call was the one in the backcourt and maybe the Castle foul on Shai late in the 2nd

SGA had some pretty legit fouls last night. The ones that bothered me was when Jaylen Williams runs into Keldon Johnson than just flops, Jared Mcain elbows Harper than flops when he comes from behind, and that missed goal tend call.

I thought I’d see a bunch of flopping here. I just saw 9 fouls. Some pretty aggressive fouls on a few of them too. Castle has been playing SGA ultra aggressive all series, not surprised that a couple games they’ll call it tight against him

I think the point that is missed is not whether or not an individual player commits fouls in post-game review. The issue is whether or not there is consistency on both ends of the court. This is a highly physical series. They can’t call everything or no one would be left playing. Still, in general, the Spurs are getting called for far more fouls. If you want a good example, look at the supposed foul on Fox on a jump shooting SGA. No contact, no infringement of landing zone. SGA falls. Foul on Fox. Look at Castle back of hand on hip of SGA. SGA performs his SGA stumble. Foul Castle. Really no push at all with back of hand. These are the types of fouls the Spurs are enduring. Now think of how much of this series is dictated by what’s happening with Wemby and Hartawhatever his name is. Notice how many rebounds Wemby is making one handed. The reason is that H is grabbing his other arm the entire game. If they were actually regulating those obvious fouls, H’s effectiveness in the series would be nil…he’d always be on the bench in foul trouble. Instead, it’s mostly Spurs in foul trouble the whole series.

This is not to mention several just complete boneheaded blown calls such as goal tending on Kortney put back, out of bounds on OKC foot, not seeing Mitch asking for reviews. This didn’t determine outcome, but at the time the Spurs were pushing OKC, and this kept the lead at 10 even after the Spurs got three thereafter. Note, if called correctly, that sequence was a six point swing. It would have been a four point game instead of 10 with Spurs having all the momentum.

About half were reasonable calls. The minor bump on Castle was pretty enraging especially given how literally every trip, every Thunder player caused more contact than that.

Thunder haters are the basketball equivalent of flat earthers at this point.

Shai flops. These aren’t flops. Least disciplined i’ve seen SAS in any of our game this year. The fouls forty feet from the basket were mind blowing.

The one on Castle in the backcourt inbounds was a little weak, the rest were all pretty easy calls. That sequence right before the technical I think he got fouled pretty clearly like 3 times, lol.

Love the one where they throw the ball toward SGA and Castle is just like, imma run straight through him, that’ll work out.

It felt like every whistle was on him because they all came in brutal moments, plus the broadcast kept zooming in on his reactions lol. When you actually look at the box score though, it’s kinda tame. Playoff whistle is just nasty vibes this year.

Thing is, even if he gets pushed. He just falls. Doesn’t brace himself at all for any contact. It’s totally natural to get pushed and stand your ground in any event but SGA doesn’t do that. 90% of these little pushes in the back or small little bumps wouldn’t really knock you down unless you’re absolutely selling it. It’s hilarious.

I used to think that winning was everything and that it doesn’t matter in the future so much because people will forget about the antics. But that was in the past, where accomplishments overshadowed actual play in eras where social media and technology were far more limited. Now, I could see every single one of SGA’s nose hairs on every single one of his plays ever. The future won’t be so nice to him I think.

I’m surprised at the number of people agreeing these are all good calls. I don’t feel like I understand what “good tough defense” is anymore. What is really lopsided though is the amount of times he is able to extend his off-arm into the defender without a call, but any time that is remotely reciprocated, the whistle is blown (that is not exclusive to SGA though).

Maybe there’s an argument to be made on one or two of these fouls, but most of them are pretty clear fouls. Spurs have to be more disciplined on defense. They hand check a ton and you can’t be surprised when ball handlers, especially the MVP of the league, get calls when you have your hands on his arms or body as he is driving.

Kinda sick about all of the complaining about the refs when the Spurs have clearly played better in other games in this series. They didn’t lose because of the refs in Game 5. They lost because Wemby wasn’t playing in the paint.

I can’t understand what castle is trying to do on those aggressive ball denials. There’s physicality and there’s dumb fouls. Is SGA start stopping to trick Castle on those?

Spurs lost the game last night by themselves. Shit passing. Wemby’s paint allergy. Stupid fouls. Complete garbage from 3. No playmaking of any kind at all.

Felt like every time they got the ball and made it to the other end of the court they couldn’t figure out what to do or they had a wide open 3 and started chucking bricks.

Remove the refs. Give all players brass knuckles in the next match. They can even call it the OKC Thunder-dome

Hard disagree these were fouls in the context of this game. Plenty were minor contact (textbook foul) but way less than most players (on both sides) have to deal with nonstop in this series.

Refs gave him free reign to hack n slash SGA game 1 through 4 and now the refs are finally making right calls Castle starts cryin.

Someone needs to show Jason Timpf this. Spent an entire segment of his after game show saying Shai just fell over so he got free throws.

Dude used to be great about analysis of the game and breaking down intricacies but this post season he just goes on about refs, feels like he is jockeying to be the next Nick Wright on a network.

This is more an indictment on Castle being undisciplined.
