The issue is he’s not used to high minutes because he has been on a minutes restriction his whole career in the nba.

The issue with playing him more minutes in the regular season to condition him is obvious scares of injury. Tough spot to be in.

The whole OKC squad had the same issue in 2024. That Dallas series they were exhausted. The downside of so many young guys is they haven’t played this many games in a season ever. Add the minutes increase with little break between games too.

That’s what happens when dude plays 30 minutes a game and is expected to play 40+.

Tell the Spurs to stop committing dumb fouls. Castle had 5 fouls and he easily could’ve had 9. Keldon Johnson holding Chet’s jerseys and pulling backwards DIRECTLY in front of the baseline ref. Like, the Spurs did not adjust and just kept doing dumb shit in obvious ways.

Edit: the problem with the officials tonight was several issues where both teams were affecting the ball above the cylinder and they were not calling it. There should’ve been 3 goaltending this game 1 on Wemby and 2 on OKC. But calling fouls that weren’t fouls was not the issue with the crew. San Antonio has to stop doing dumb shit

I agree it was a mix of the thunders hitting their shots today, and wemby looking gassed (and it seems that the spurs live and die by wemby).

when the spurs play disciplined, they shut down SGA and OKC hard, but then when they make mistakes, they can spiral and be their own worst enemies. that’s not something they can afford against a team like OKC that thrives off forcing mistakes

On the Wenmby of it all. I was saying in the first quarter and then all throughout the game, “why is he playing so far from the basket?” He was outside the paint near the 3-point line on both sides of the ball for the majority of his minutes. That feels like coaching decision and I don’t understand it.

Game 4 was beautifully done by the Spurs. They forced Thunder into making bad shots. But I honestly felt game 4 was a bad night for a lot of Thunder players. Spurs players played much more disciplined and a desperate hunger to win. I feel like them and the fans threw off Thunder’s game all night so a lot of players just couldn’t find their rhythm. 

Naturally game 5 that wasn’t the case. So Game 6 will be interesting. Spurs are a hostile cornered animal so they’ll play with more ferocity for a win. Question is if Thunder will have a repeat bad game or if they can weather it, make consistent plays to make points, and minimize turnovers.

OKC had several of turnovers late in the 4th and Spurs couldn’t capitalize to take on runs of those turnovers to get close and tie the lead but they couldn’t.

They tried double big Wemby’s rookie year for exactly this reason. It lasted, maybe 20 games? The problem is that there aren’t many guys in the NBA who are strong enough to box out NBA centers but fast enough to guard on the perimeter so Wemby can roam the paint. So Giannis to the Spurs confirmed?

People act like these guys are robots or can go grind levels in stamina, but that’s not how it works. Being that size and being able to do so much offensively and defensively isn’t sustainable playing every other night in the playoffs.

Even prime Lebron had limits. Spurs will have to shore up the roster and gameplan more efficiently in the future. They will figure it out in a year or two, I’m sure. The league is fucked when that happens
