I don’t care if you’re a Thunder fan or Spurs fan
Can we agree that this camera angle that they start each half with and just use randomly sucks? It’s this weird 45 degrees type angle that’s high above. Feel like I can’t actually see the game.
Finally a take we can all agree on
The classic angle is the best for a reason. Save all other angles for relays.
I enjoyed the courtside rail camera during the bubble
Every now and then they’ll use a similar low angle and while it’s not something that can sustain a broadcast for long, it’s one of my favorites. I’ve been fortunate enough to sit only a few rows back at games before, and there’s something to be said about how the hardcam angle doesn’t truly convey the speed these dudes have. Like, you logically know that’d be the case, but then you see, at ground-level, what you thought was a slow g-league player sprinting at full blast before stopping on a dime, and you’re still caught off guard by just how inhuman the talent level is. Even being in the upper bowl, your brain struggles to recognize just how insane the pace is.
That handcam courtside tracking shot they’ll sometimes do is the closest I’ve ever felt to those moments.
Yeah I got to be ballboy one game when I was a kid and you just can’t believe how physical and how athletic these guys really are if you’re watching from even a couple rows up vs when you’re right there watching them at floor level. Got to see a full game of prime Moses Malone sitting inside the cage holding up the basket and it was mindblowing how strong that man was.
I’ll second this. I’m in my 40s and a couple years ago had a lifelong dream fulfilled when I fell into some court side tickets to Portland at Denver. It’s wild. Everything is faster.. the whole game goes by faster. Like you said, the guys are huge but also incredibly fast. Even dudes that look like they’d be big oafs. I remember Lillard and every single movement his body made seemed so rehearsed and deliberate. It was really fascinating.
Dame and Jokic courtside must have been unreal. I got to see a Spurs-Lakers playoff game from the third row because my doctor was a minority owner of the Spurs and gave my family his tickets for the game when he was going to be out of town. And as crazy as Magic, Kareem, and Worthy looked from the third row it was not even close to the experience of seeing Malone on the actual floor.
Yeah man that is unreal. Good memories. Have a great day, Nutsack!
Remember when it almost took out Luka while he was trying to get a breather?
If we lose, I’ll be bummed but there will be 2 silver linings.
Reggie Miller will finally complete his auto-erotic asphyxiation on Wemby’s baguette
We can finally see replays on foul calls, no more hyper zooming on the ball and not the full court, no more showing random fucking nuns instead of live ball play, hearing crowd noise, no more unrelated to current time replays, no more drone footage.
I really want NBC to be the powerhouse it once was for NBA coverage when I grew up, but this is a bad product and I’ll be canceling Peacock as soon as this series wraps,
agreed. one of the worse angle.
It’s so fucking ass and they keep doing it
I get so furious every time I see that angle. Let us boo the broadcast in solidarity brother!
I sadly have to disagree. That angle shows all of the horizontal spacing we’re missing from the traditional angle. So much more detail to drives and cuts with that spacing info. I would prefer more of it for that reason alone.
This is a fair counter. Just feels strange putting it on the main broadcast of the conference finals. Feels like NBC didn’t do it all year until the playoffs (or maybe I didn’t pay attention)?
Yeah they are really inconsistent with it
Prime for NFL has a separate All 22 cam stream. NBC should do that for this POV
If they did a 2k angle from behind the ballhandler it would be awesome or even an upper deck angle would be great. I love sitting upper deck at games specifically because you can really see how plays are run from there. But that wire cam is so disorienting with almost a fisheye lens effect.
Why not, but only on REPLAYS. So that you can understand why the play occured the way it did, but you still have good perspective on the live action.
I like it too. It’s literally the same angle I use in 2K
Streaming this was so bad that I thought I clicked on some new Peacock NBA game cam option. It seemed too weird to be the main feed.
It’s so disorienting. Who the fuck thought this was a good idea?
ITS BEEN ANNOYING ME SO MUCH
I hate it so much it feels so off. It gives me almost uncanny valley vibes where I’m like what the fuck am I looking at. It feels like when you start a game of 2K up for the first time and you have to change that weird ass camera angle they start the game with.
It feels like the camera the control room goes to if there’s an emergency, or bat situation.
It’s completely atrocious
Pure rage when they use it. No one wants this
I have no data but it feels like they got this angle from the 2k games…trying to bridge them
one of the networks is always trying this nonsense, used to be tnt, now its NBC. its so fucking simple, just broadcast view the entire time, and during stoppage maybe some replays or player cuts. they get cute though and try to squeeze in all these stupid single player or fan reactions and this dumb camera angle at the start of the quarters.
Fuck the camera angle, the fucking officiating sucks. Borderline unwatchable
two things can be true at once
They’re comin for you next bruh
This comment just made me realize that we’re probably getting Shai vs Brunson in the Finals oh lord this is gonna be nasty hoops
floops?
if kelly cant get dort’s shoulder i hope he gets tony brothers’
We could lose the knicks in 5 and id be happier than I am watching this
It’s egregious, that goal tend and then the ignored challenge are just unreal
The refs ignored the challenge on purpose because they’re tired of San Antonio abusing substitutions to buy time for challenges. The announcers bring it up every time. Guarantee there will be a rule change.
so you’re saying the refs are making up their own rules on the fly?
they’re tired because SA wins every challenge and makes them look like the fools that they are.
Yup. Clearly calling for a challenge the refs just look at them like they are stupid.
“borderline unwatchable” he says about the most watched series in 10 years
You people can’t not whine about it in one thread?
Those people can’t not poorly officiate just one game?
who are you calling “you people”?
It’s terrible
Tony Brothers officiating?
you think a thunder fan will agree with you? lol
No wonder I got the downvote lol
[removed]
You’re infinitely more shitty than any Thunder, Dodgers or even Florida Panthers fan could ever be. You’re a pathetic bozo.
Ok cornball
They are trying for that courtside fan experience. You know, when you are at a game and you levitate 30 ft in the air and nauseatingly swoop back and forth by the upper deck. That.
It’s so bad.
Genuinely laughed
What you don’t want to watch the game from the perspective of a ghost haunting the arena???
I love it ngl it’s way better than the traditional camera angles bc it shows the spacing
I’ll upvote you for being brave enough to admit it. Prepare to be downvoted into oblivion.
Nah they’re right. I’ve been a huge fan for years, wish they did more. If you ball you know how to read all those little slivers of space. Overhead angle gives you all of that while the traditional sideline angle gives no horizontal spacing detail at all. Can never tell how tight or sharp of a drive a guy makes with the traditional.
I love watching NFL in the all 22 because I want to watch the coverage more than the QB but I get why it’s not the preferred angle for most casual fans. I can see why the NBA is the same.
That makes sense and in that way I can see what you’re saying, I think it’s just a bit too far away/zoomed out for me.
It is a little jarring. Pros and cons but I like when they mix it up
Same. Usual camera they use makes the players look closer together but with this angle you can see floor better in my opinion.
Makes me consider getting League Pass if they always have that angle as an option. I recall NFL rewind having alternate camera angles you could watch games & that was eye opening.
I like the angle. I’m writing this so other angle likers know they’re not alone
It’s not that bad🫣
It’s my favorite angle lol, shows all of the spacing
I love it! Love a different view of the game
I also hate that we are no longer allowed to see the game after an in bounds till it crosses half court
PREACH
That has been my complaint this whole series. They focus on one players face for no added value to the broadcast and we miss the inbound play.
I just hate the moving camera since when do people think watching the game on a moving camera is better
Since like 1910
Damn i comment to my girl every time how much I love that angle lol. I like being able to watch the flow of the game without the camera pivoting.
I wouldn’t mind the angle so much if it actually stopped in one place but they just always keep it moving or drifting a bit which is terrible because it messes with your perspective on how fast and in which direction the ball and players are moving.
Give me the view with no commercials
I just want them to show us more of those fire women in the next break
Makes me nauseous ngl
Its so fucking bad lol
It’s completely awful.
Could’ve paid for 100 OKC students educations instead of installing that
Its free its just terrible.
It’s terrible!
The angle you’ve taken to post this is worse than the angle of the camera filming the game
Didn’t want to make a long ass title and text posts require 100+ characters
It’s kind of unique - like i’m watching a video game. I don’t mind for a few seconds but generally feels off.
Wanted to give us all a view from seats we could actually afford
Been saying that for weeks and it seems like my comments get buried so that no one sees them. The camera work this year has been complete trash. Just show the fucken game at the same old school angle. It’s used everywhere because it’s the best angle.
its fine for taking the ball up, but once they hit half court, it needs to go back too normal
holy fuck YES I hate it so much lmao
I didn’t care when you broke your elbow
It is absolutely terrible. It makes the floor like slanted and makes it feel just off!
The only reason I don’t hate it is because it signals to me that play just started after I fast forwarded through the commercial 🤷♀️
Been more focused on the rigged reffing
the wigged weffing :((
Oh my god yes. Why do they keep doing that, just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
I feel like someone’s quietly obsessed with drone tech even though it’s completely unnecessary
It’s that dumbass drone footage. You can sometimes see the drone blocking the regular footage, too.
It is awful. This didn’t use to be an issue. They are giving us camera angles that noone asked for. I just fast forward to when the normal camera angle returns, that moving camera view is literally unwatchable for me.
YES if I wanted this view it should be an alternate broadcast on Peacock. Overall it’s harder to see the spacing between the players and it makes the flow weird.
Also not showing the replay of a foul/non-foul and instead showing highlights.
Actually I love it
It’s really ass because the coaches specifically draw up plays for coming out of timeouts and we miss them every time because the fugly camera angle that doesn’t show anything.
2004 finals was full of that lol
ngl I thought something was wrong with my eyes
I honestly don’t mind it. Your mind is so used to watching from the broadcast view that any other angle is weird. I can see a lot more from that above angle.
It makes me nauseous
My wife loves this angle, lol. She says that it is unusual and interesting and lets you fell like sitting on a courtside seats kind of.
But I respond most of the times that you cannot see what’s going on in the game because of the angle. But because it only occasionally, I don’t mind it
It’s like they threw on those glasses that record and put each person as high up as possible in each corner
NBC is a very shit product
Roundball Rock makes up for all of it
It’s so annoying, I keep thinking I’m watching a replay and then miss the first play
Honestly we should thank the NBA for rolling out a feature so awful it unites the country against it.
That’s the kind of shit that the terrorist commish thinks “elevates the fan experience” instead of fixing all the other bullshit
Yeah that shit is terrible
It honestly makes me nauseous. Especially at the beginning of the game it was three possessions of that angle. Peacock is just terrible at the camera work and not showing the replays we actually want to see.
That camera blows. All can agree.
Shit makes me motion sick.
Their whole production has sucked throughout the series.
It sucks especially bad on a night like tonight where no one scores for a full minute to start the night
yes thank you sir
100% agree! We we’re also really annoyed, make it legit difficult to see what happening sometimes
The SNF Walmart 4K Skycam!
Fans coming together for a common goal
It’s abysmal.
I call it the 2k angle lol I honestly like it.. it’s different and I like seeing the game differently like that
my brain has been wired my entire life to look at basketball games from one angle. WHY would they ever try to mix it up. It is ass 100% of the time. It actually gives me a headache when the broadcast decides to keep it on some fuck ass angle for minutes at a time
Let’s just add fly b y wire drone cameras with meta vr and draft kings tickers with live updates. Let’s just remove replays so we can get to commercials faster. Might as well bring back some of those bright colored courts too.
We can all agree on this.
One million percent correct.
I’m not an okc hater, but the home games are atrocious with the all white, the noise makers that throw the audio off and you cannot hear the commentary (not always a bad thing) …. Especially on league pass!
yes. we have to band forces and defeat the true evil: the shitty camera angle
NBA Live 2005 ass camera angle
Makes me sick
Yeah…definitely yes agree
Damn I came here to troll and the first thread I see from a Spurs fan is just objectively correct.
Props
It’s absolutely ass
I don’t know why sports producers try and get cute with the camera angles all the time. Just stick to the fucking tried and true high sideline angle.
i like it
I despise that shit. I blame early game misses on the camera.
I heard Tony Brothers personally chose this camera angle
me and my gf have been complaining about it the entire series, and she’s a Spurs fan lol
Yes, the fisheye lens is crap for anything but center-court plays and they should switch off it as soon as possible.
Sky cam.is trash
i have a condition where i get random vertigos. it’s not super bad but that camera angle is enough to traumatize me. i just look away. if the whole game is like that i will not watch the game at all
Its the worst! Honestly makes me feel a bit sick
I hate everything about NBC’s coverage, but that is the absolute worst part of it. Every first play of every quarter you have no idea what’s happening.
They also show fans and players too much. I wanna watch the game not the bench
Top tier floops and head jerking
Agreed. Terrible angle.
You guys complain about the weirdest shit
Literally makes me dizzy and I can’t tell what’s happening
This and the video gamification from ESPN (shot trajectory, distance…). No, just no.
I’m ok with them trying new things, as long as they listen when people tell them it’s bad.
I like it. If I had full 360 freedom to see the game from all angles, I wouldn’t just leave it at normal broadcast perspective.
Yesssssssss
I got used to it but when i first saw it i was pissed.
This and the full screen shots on players/coaches when a team is currently running a play
I’m glad I’m not the only one.
Every time my wife says, “get this dumb shit off my screen” and I concur.
Haha it’s fucking terrible
It’s so fucking bad.
I thought it was just me!
Basketball is hard to televise, and the solution isn’t camera angles.
It’s announcing.
Use the standard wide shot, and have the play-by-play announcer narrate the action on the floor when the ball is live. Easy.
The worst!!!
Idk if it’s just my tv but it’s also way darker than the normal camera angle
Omg yes I hate this flying camera
It’s fucking abysmal
Yeah, I hate that. 😆
Absolute trash
I complained to my wife about it and she said “I kinda like it” so I haven’t said a word since. I hate it and somehow feel like the Thunder are shooting 0% and the spurs are shooting 100% from that angle.
Its so bad
It’s cool for a second until can’t tell if a shot goes in or not
The angles they film from are the perfect ones.
Yes it’s horrible
1000%
Agreed, throw that shit in the trash, can’t tell shit from that angle
it makes me carsick lmao
Yes it’s ass
H8 it
Hate it.
Absolutely sucks ass
It’s awful. I noticed they kept it on a little bit longer than usual to start this game. Watch some boomer in charge will make the executive decision to just change to that camera angle for the whole game, ignoring what would likely be outrage online, because he’s so much smarter than everybody else.
I agree, it’s so jarring, just give us the regular angle like it’s always been.
i hate so much too
It’s so bad bro. The perspective feels terrible
I fucking hate it
I FUCKING HATE THAT FUCKING SHOT.
Makes me forget how 3-4 times a game they will do a cutaway to the bench or something while someone is driving the ball up the court and we miss gameplay, like a backcourt steal.
Its a terrible angle
It’s so, so bad. Between that camera angle, weird no replays on certain plays, and Reggie: NBC has been bad.
Yeah it looks cool for about 2 seconds but then I want to see what’s actually happening on the floor, which isn’t possible with this angle.
Actual discussion! Yes. It BLOWS. I don’t get what they’re thinking it provides 😭
Glad I wasn’t the only one who hated it.
