[Highlight] Jalen Brunson is named the Eastern Conference Finals MVP
Mavs really let a WCF mvp and ECF mvp go man. My goodness
And they took them in the same draft!
Imagine going back in time and telling a Mavs fan that they would draft two top 10 NBA players in the first and second rounds of the same draft and have neither guy 8 years later
Sports are cruel and unfair
Still cracks me up that Dallas had Dak and Zeke did nothing.
ROBO and Miro and otter in 1 draft for the stars and haven’t won it all
Luka and Brunson and gave them away for peanuts
Then our Horrendous 100+ loss baseball team just randomly won it all in 2023 and is back to losing 80+ games a season.
Like of the 4 teams and their talent levels before 2020 I never would’ve ever guessed the rangers got one lol.
That’s baseball Suzyn
Imagine knowing in 2017 that Mitchell Robinson and Luke Kornet might meet in the nba finals
Fucking hell Brunson was SRP? WTF.
Wait until you hear about Jokic
But first, a word from our sponsors
You want some Taco Bell?
Then they somehow got cooper flagg…
At this rate they’ll ship Cooper to The Celtics, get another superstar and ship them off to The Warriors all for basically nothing.

When do the spurs get a piece of their incompetency
Hey, get in line, we’re up next.
You’re unfortunately actually out because your owner didn’t want to pay for the staples on the contract
When Wemby joins Luka in LA (which for the sake of the NBA I hope is never)
lol Wemby is never leaving SA.
Pop will crawl out of his hibernation cacoon at the ripe age of 113 to veto that move.
I think thats the one thing they wouldn’t do tbh
I actually forgot the Mavs had him too. Yea, they had no choice but to clean house over there. Good lord
4 years 55 million lmao thank you Dallas
Dallas gave two of the biggest NBA organizations their franchise players, Brunson on the Knicks and Luka on the Lakers
At this point I’m expecting Mavs to give away Cooper Flagg to the Celtics someday.
he is literally from Maine aswell lmfao
We claim Maine as Canada. I’m from New Brunswick and there’s literally no difference between Maine and us.
so Flagg for Canadian national team 2028??
I see so many of the kelly-green Mavs Flagg jerseys up in Maine, they want him to be a Celtic so bad
I will kill myself in front of Mark Cuban if that happens
Mark doesn’t own the mavs anymore lol
Then he won’t be expecting it AT ALL 😂
He’s trying to, okay?
It’s really funny the way he used his ownership of the Mavs to market himself as some cool buisnessman only for him to sell the team for well-below what they were worth to people who were so bad it made everyone hate him for selling them.

They also re-gifted Nash back to the Suns.
That one was at least a little more defensible, since at the time of the signing Nash was a 30 year old small guard who’d only been a 2-time All-Star and 2-time 3rd team All-NBA to that point in his career, he’d has significant injury issues earlier in his career, and in his last season with Dallas averaged 15 and 9 and didn’t make All-Star despite being healthy. It was reasonable to not want to give a player like that a huge contract. Even for an optimistic but reasonable projection of Nash’s remaining career at that point, you could argue that Phoenix’s offer was a slight overpay. No one would have seen what was coming, and honestly he likely wouldn’t have come to close to doing what he wound up doing on just about any other team but that Suns team coached by Mike D’Antoni.
The Brunson signing is similar in some ways, as no one could have seen how good Brunson would become, though it’s less defensible on a few grounds: (1) Brunson was much younger than Nash, (2) Brunson had already flashed his high-ceiling potential for the Mavs in the playoffs when Luka was hurt, (3) even for reasonable projections of his future production, the Mavs were arguably lowballing him.
They could have also just extended Brunson earlier, but weren’t willing to go to his max extension value until he’d already outplayed it.
The Mavs have done the Knicks some solids over the years.
Traded Derek Harper to the Knicks in 1994 to help them make a Finals run
Helped Melo have his one successful Knicks season by letting the Knicks get two starters from the Mavs’ 2011 title team (traded Tyson Chandler to the Knicks in a salary dump, and let Jason Kidd sign as a free agent)
Took Porzingis off the Knicks’ hands before his first contract extension
Let Brunson walk to the Knicks
Don’t forget they also gave us their acclaimed medical staff which resulted in two very healthy (overall) seasons in a row
Nico might actually be a worse GM than Vlade Divac and that’s saying a lot
Analytically, Dallas won the trades ~ Kenny Atkinson
we found a way to keep Dwight Powell tho
If the Dallas Mavericks have a point guard that has some perceived flaws, but is also kind of good for them.. fucking trade for him while you can! Because he’ll probably end up being one of the greatest players in the NBA
mark cuban saved the knicks
That’s what he would get in a single year in an open market lol
should get his bag once the team’s salary cap easens
Best Knick in 30 years, saved that city
I remember I got cooked a month ago for saying he was easily a top 10 player in the NBA, he’s been to the conference finals 3 out of the last 5 years, he’s a winner everywhere he goes, glad to see him finally making the Finals, would be cool if he gets a chip as well.
He objectively is, he’s a winner
But what about analytically?
Cavs in 9.
He was 6th man for Luka’s 2022 WCF run as well. Then got paid biiiiig by the Knicks and never looked back
More like paid mediuuuum-to-slightly-high-at-the-tiiiime by the Knicks
And who’d he beat in the first round then? Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert’s Jazz tenures.
he puts up great numbers in the regular season, not as gaudy was guys like Luka and Jokic, but when it comes to the playoffs he is absolutely top 5 in the NBA.
Captain clutch has been top 3 in the nba playoffs the last few years and genuinely can make an argument that he’s been the best in the last three years
and he ain’t 2 or 3
He’s like the anti-Harden
Who is he better than in the playoffs out of Luka, Jokic, Shai, Wemby, and Giannis? Not his team, but who is HE better than? Not saying there isnt an argument but I’d want to hear it.
I know all about the “everyone better than Brunson until its time to be better than Brunson.” but that’s never been about these 5 guys.
Most 35+ PTS Playoff Games since Jalen Brunson joined the Knicks:
• Jalen Brunson (16)
• Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (10)
• Anthony Edwards (9)
• Nikola Jokic (9)
• Jayson Tatum (9)
not saying 35+ games are the end all be all of playoff performers, but not sure what else he’s supposed to do
You’re exactly the reason why people spam “Everyone’s better than Brunson until it’s time to become than Brunson”. Believe it or not availability is huge when it comes to judging players in playoffs.
Giannis has been injured every single year since like 2022 and is mentally checked out. Brunson currently is better than him. This isn’t covid years.
Wemby this year has been great so far; but it’s just his first time and it’s not any better than what Brunson has done.
Jokic sucked ass this year and couldn’t beat a mid team with 3 starters out. He’s honestly been whatever in every playoff run besides the one year he got the chip
SGA and Luka I’ll give you though
Wemby has been better cause he is infinitely better on defense
Brunson is better than all 5 of those players in the playoffs.
And in case anyone thinks this is a troll:
Since Brunson -> Knicks trade:
Brunson 30/4/7ast on 57.2% TS (49 games)
Luka 29/9/8ast on 56.5% TS (55 games)
Nikola 28/12/9 on 60.9% TS (60 games)
Shai 30/6/7 on 58.2% TS (40 games)
Giannis 29/13/6 on 60.8% TS (35 games)
Wemby 24/14/4 on 59.8% TS (16 games)
So they are all in the same conversation, not like Brunson is some clear outlier below the other all time great playoff performers of this era.
well, easily Giannis these days. he’s been much better than Shai this year. i’d absolutely put him in the same tier as Luka and Jokic. Wemby to me is still a ? because everyone cites +/- and BPM which can be misleading stats, but Brunson has simply been the best 4th quarter scorer in the entire league.
I don’t really understand what happened from the regular season to now in the playoffs. This is a completely different Knicks team
Going down 2-1 to the Hawks just unlocked something with everyone
CJ MSG villain narratives might be the biggest jinx I have seen in playoffs
I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.
-Quinn Snyder post game 3 interview.
Hawks woke them up. Towns more involved. Mikal, OG, and Shamet ballin out.
They needed time to gel with Mike Brown. The narrative surrounding them was however much darker than the actual season. They had that losing streak following the cup win, which I guess was a mental thing. Without that streak they would have won sixty games. Since then they were an elite team statistically in every category up there with SAS and OKC
They got Towns involved in the offense and it changed the entire flow of the team immediately.
Gotta admit, I was lower on him early in the year, but he keeps going crazy in the playoffs
Dude just has that clutch factor that analytics nerds can’t quantify
That’s exactly what 2nd team all nba should suggest. But I still had to argue with people trying to say that Austin Reaves and Tyrese Maxey are better players during the year
If he wins it all, he’s in the Top 3 of the greatest Knicks of all time. The other two? The ones that just gave him the ECF MVP title.
He got on the team’s Mt Rushmore today
Doesn’t put him over Willis but he’s at the table with all 4.
Yeah, it’s still Clyde and Reed 1 and 2 with Ewing 3.
Brunson leading them to the ring will fully put him in the Top 3.
When does he pass Ewing is the question
A ring makes it a very interesting conversation.
No disrespect to Patrick but if JB wins a championship and a FMVP this season I really think he’ll pass him. The ring is just so unbelievably important. Flags fly forever
So you’re going to hold Ewing playing against Jordan against him? This era of basketball is more balanced.
Jordan retired during his prime and he didn’t get a ring
He did make the Finals though, in two of the three years he didn’t have Jordan in conference. Losing to Hakeem’s Rockets and the Twin Towers Spurs isn’t too legacy defining.
Best ever
Imagine if the Mavericks still had him
“why he say fuck me for”
At least they still have their generational point guard in Luka.
Some people call him the modern day Zohran
Better than Ewing? That’s a bold state…
shit, it’s been almost 30 years since Ewing
Thanks Mamdani
“ThiS iS MANDANI’S AMERICA!”
Jalen Brunson is the greatest basketball player of all time
Mamdani and Brunson on a generational run
#SOMEBODY SAY THE LINE…
“Everyone is better than Brunson until it’s time to be better than Brunson.”
Who dropped that bar. It’s solid gold.
Pretty sure it was CC Sabathia
From one New York legend to another
Brewers Legend and 2008 Titan
Vallejo stand up
This is a cold fucking line
“Everyone is better than Landry Shamet until it’s time to be better than Landry Shamet”
The lowkey ECF MVP
I miss him and Mikal so much. Shamet was doing fourth quarter clutch things back in the day, playing like a pro every minute he was in. People dogged on him for some reason but this is not surprise to a lot of us.
Everyone is better than Brunson until Brunson whoops their ass
Nobody makes me bleed my own blood.
We don’t have time to bleed
Bleeding isn’t in my blood
seeing Clyde and Ewing finally be able to pass the torch is fucking incredible, 27 years in the fucking making. it’s beautiful.
ESPN killed it with that decision. Such a beautiful moment
Still can’t believe it’s been that long! Crazy!
If only The Captain, Willis Reed is still around to see his team succeed again. RIP.
Brought tears to me eyes
Clutch player of the year, NBA cup MVP, Eastern conference finals MVP. Invent a new award and that boy Jalen Brunson is going to win it
Does the “Bill Russell Finals MVP Trophy presented by KIA and FanDuel” count as new?
He also pretty much has all possible awards in College too
High school too.
He was a McDonald’s/parade/USA Today All American, Gatorade High School Player of the Year, Illinois Mr. Basketball, USA Basketball Male athlete of the year, won his state championship and he was the under 19 FIBA world cup MVP when the US won gold.
He also won the skills competition at the McDonald’s all-american game too cause why not.
Trophy case almost as big as his head apparently
Sheeshhh
GOAT shit
Ranked #18 in the league by ESPN btw behind Harden AND Mitchell
EVERYBODY IS BETTER THAN JALEN BRUNSON UNTIL ITS TIME TO BE BETTER THAN JALEN BRUNSON
Yeah I feel like for anyone who ranked Mitchell ahead of Brunson, if you asked them who they’d rather have in a playoff series a lot of them would suddenly change their minds to Brunson.
Inch for inch best player award
The Knicks savior. Kyrie and KD choosing not to go the Knicks turned out to be a blessing in disguise for them. They got a better FA signing years later anyway.
Nets fan here. You guys dodged two bullets.
Congrats. Now let us enjoy our picks in peace!!!
They would 100% ruin the Knicks and then dip. The Knicks would be rebuilding right now
It also led to the revamping of the front office with Leon Rose at the head, who is the best GM in NY sports this millennium. Every time he makes a decision that has people going “huh” it turns out to be the right one. Brunson, Bridges, Towns, Mike Brown - all questioned and even ridiculed by people.
But I thought he was too short??????
his body half forehead
head so big it helps him run faster the more he leans forward!
Kinda insane to realize that Brunson would be like 5’9 if he has a normal sized head.
We stacked him on top of Mikal for extra height
he is but he stands on top of his giant balls and makes the cutoff
You see height is like a lamppost to a drunk person..
This man literally saved my life
I’m not a religious man, but I might light some candles
We pouring honey on you, GOAT
A drunk person can lean on a light post but it cant get them home
The Cavs apparently excel at leaning on light posts.
Analytically if the cavs leaned on a light pole then it fell down, then they rode it and it rolled down the hill to their house it could get them home.
Shamet robbed
Shamet is an absolute gem and a secret weapon! But even I who don’t particularly love Brunson had to agree he was the goat this series
Fairs it was his turn, was robbing Mitchell consistently this series.
Shamet went absolutely ham the last 2 games
Thats a savior, if ive ever seen one.
Never a more deserving, humble player.
Congrats Jalen, well deserved
imagine Jalen Brunson and Luka Doncic on the same team.
Good for Brunson! Stone cold killer in the play-offs
Clyde and Ewing giving Brunson the ECF MVP stirs something deeply emotional within me
Y’all have such a rich history of great players. Happy to see the legends celebrating the next one in the making.
I’m pouring honey on you GOAT.
Mavs really let him and Luka go
Signing him literally changed everything for the knicks. Cant be said enough how good of a decision that was.
Well deserved. Been amazing to see his rise after the doubt from the media when the Knicks signed him.
Clyde and Pat being there is awesome.
It’s like they always say…
Everybody better than Brunson until it’s time to be better than Brunson
But he’s short tho.
Pat and Clyde getting to hand him that means so much
GOAT KNICK, everyone doubted this guy. He brought us to the finals, give him his trophy!
congrats jalen, well deserved
becky hammon, spurs fans loves you but you need to apologize to Mr. Brunson.
All the haters and dumb casuals are punching air right now.
Mavs let Brunson walk and traded Doncic. Generational fumble fr
Captain Clutch
Capatin Crunch
Jalen Bruns
Knicks in the FINALS
Seeing Ewing Starks LJ all them in the stands for this has been really cool.
Hart was nowhere near sight when Brunson got the trophy
Is Donovan Mitchell better than Brunson?
Well deserved
the bigger the head the bigger the brain
Man, I remember arguing with people that we didn’t overpay him.
Best Knick I’ve ever watched
Receiving it from Ewing and Clyde. Absolutely amazing!
The Mavs have to hate themselves right now they had Jalen and Luka and let them go within a 3 year span
Deserved. Respect jb. Lol at nico letting him go what a dummy.
craziest thing is this was the 1st playoff series where he wasn’t the leading scorer on BOTH teams, MItchell got him by 2ppg, but Brunson wasn’t even really needed in the 4th quarters outside of game 1.
Let his dad get a mini trophy too … why not
Our underestimated captain once again proving everyone wrong. And he’ll just keep doing that coz he’s that guy
Seeing Clyde and Pat give him the trophy actually made me tear up a little
I’ve had a great time laughing at the Knicks for over two decades but this man has turned the franchise around. Can’t wait to see him play in the finals.
100% KAT gets and honourable mention. Hes been the X factor
It’s still so odd to me that the E/WCF FMVP is a relatively new award. It only just got started being handed out a couple of years ago. Which is weird because there’s always been a clear best player in the conference finals, and that win is very meaningful.
I’m always happy to be wrong about players when it comes to doubting their abilities. I’ve always said, you can’t make it to the finals with Brunson as your star player. Big time congrats to the New York Knicks and Jalen Brunson. Rooting for y’all to win it all!
Should be Kenny Atkinson
Crazy how much he’s accomplished without being a 1A dude
Lmfao he clinched this shit at the end of regulation in game 1
can’t win if you’re 6’2 or under or something like that
GET IN HERE BECKY HAMMON
During his early years with the Knicks, talking heads online are saying that if Brunson is the #1 option in the team, that team is not going anywhere far.
Brunson>SGA
Where the fuck is Becky Hammon
The only unanimous ECF MVP in history.
Brunson is such a legend
Man this is how it felt when Luka got Mavs there, enjoy this Knicks fans, hoping for a good finals
I’ll always root for my guy JB
I went from Chris Duhon, Raymond Felton (twice), Alonzo Trier, Emmanuel Mudiay, Elfred Payton, Trey Burke, Frank Ntilikina, Ramon Sessions, Mardy Collins, Alexy Shved, Langston Galloway, Jarrett Jack, and Shane Larkin to Jalen Brunson 🥲.
Way to fucking go JB! Mavs are idiots for not seeing you for what you were. Glad you’re getting all the love you deserve in NY!
I’m sorry but as a massive frazier fan (his jersey is hanging on my wall) and just a guy whos life was changed by knicks basketball I can’t really explain how meaningful this moment is. Seeing the legends support this fun, tough, kinetic squad is so fucking cool.
This type of relationship with the legnds is the ONLY thing that the NBA has over the MLB and NFL. OAKAAK.
