it’s probably because the Celtics have done so much to overtly fuck with my favorite team over the last 10 to 15 years, but I just can’t bring myself to hate these Knicks.
Their best player is a Philly graduate who was a 2nd-round draft pick and then was “overpaid” by the Knicks (I think I remember the hoop collective podcast ragging the deal while driving to go to the Philadelphia Museum of Art). they’ve genuinely built the team well through trades and have actually taken gambles to get those guys that could’ve blown up in their faces EASILY.
You just can’t get me to hate Mike Brown. dude fucking made the Kings relevant for the first time since I graduated high school.

Or these Knicks might just be a historically dominant playoff team. For all the talk of eastern conference being ass, nobody’s dominated it like this before.
The Celtics run from 2024 was pretty lopsided as well, but not the 11-12 games in a row from this Knicks run.
Among those with high basketball IQ and among executives around the league, Knicks have been the best in the East and the 2nd highest ceiling team after OKC in the NBA all year and nobody noticed just cause of their record.
But now they’re probably the best team in the NBA and better positioned than either West team now. But nobody will notice or recognize til they have 3 games in the Finals cause the collective NBA conscious moves at a snails pace.

Where did I say the Knicks sucked? I’m saying the competition in the East is just bad. They were head and shoulders above the rest, but thats how it has been for several years (besides last year’s wild playoffs)- The East has 1 good team that rolls through everyone else. Meanwhile the West is stacked and they have a harder route to the Finals, hence why the Knicks are better positioned because they are much more rested, on top of being a really good team.
It should shape up for a really good Finals.
OKC played the suns and the walking wounded Lakers squad, who tf have they played? It was always gonna come down to us, OKC, and the Spurs.
…OKC is playing the Spurs right now. Who have the Knicks played that gave them trouble? What other East team coming into the playoffs actually looked like a legit team other than the Knicks and Celtics who still had a recovering Tatum and “died by the 3”? Meanwhile the West has OKC, Spurs, Nuggets, Timberwolves, Lakers (if Luka was healthy), etc.
The West is more stacked and is a harder route, and I just hoped the East would be more competitive. Like 2 years ago when the Celtics romped everyone and made it look easy while the West was a slugfest. That’s all I am saying.
