[Katz] Mike Brown has continually said that closeout games are the hardest games to win. His team is doing an awful job proving that point.
Mike Brown is a god damned liar
And I will never be apart of an organization he’s apart of
And was FEMA director during Hurricane Katrina.
Heckuva job, Brownie.
The horse guy
What a schmuck
-James Harden
Is he stupid?
Mike Brown is always on time.
This is generational BTA from the Knicks these entire playoffs
Something snapped in that team after Game 3 against the Hawks. I can’t recall another playoff run anywhere close to this dominant. They need to win it all.
They lwk look like they got the best chance. Cruising through the east, while. the west is a bloodbath and the two best teams are beating each other to a pulp.
Idk, one of the two best teams is currently chilling in the East waiting for the Finals to start.
two best teams in the west
The wording had me confused 😂
We Knicks fan feeling ourselves let’s fucking goooooooi
I really dont know what you guys are
Huh
Its just wemby and them boys to me
Them boys are dogs. Most of them at least.
the west isnt a bloodbath, wemby just got himself suspended so the wolves won an extra game
one series there is a bloodbath.
You’re thinking it’s gonna be like a 2018 Warriors cruise where the Cavs are limping out of 7 games and didn’t have any gas left while the Warriors are just waiting to play fresh…….but I think it’s going to be like the 2014 Spurs where they come out battle tested and ready through a few tough rounds and the Heat got stomped because they were in cake walk mode throughout those playoffs. Those high pressure Mavs and Thunder series made them more than ready for that gentleman’s sweep
This is a good point actually. Obviously playing more games wears your team down more, but you also gain more experience which could be key for a young team like the Spurs going into the finals. Should be some good basketball either way.
I’d say closest comp is when both Cavs and Warriors in 2017 absolutely dominated their conferences on their way to finals.
Yeah, keep in mind OKC swept their first two rounds. Let’s say OKC wins the next two games, both OKC and the Knicks would have gone 12-2 en route to the finals with streaks of 11 and 8 games respectively. Sure, that’s a little more dominant for the Knicks, but OKC would be pretty close. And the last time we had two teams put up records that dominant or better meet in the Finals, the Western team destroyed the Eastern one lol.
2017 Warriors??
Lol he’s 12 years old, he don’t remember that far back.
For sure, but I will die on the hill that if Kawhi doesn’t get ZaZa’d I think that series is competitive.
Warriors pull through but it goes 6-7 games, that Spurs team was a machine.
I’m not sure about that. Kawhi already reinjured his ankles before he got Zaza’d so he’d be hobbled the whole series.
We can stand together on the little hill
2001 Lakers? 12-0 until the finals and 16-1 after it?
Edit: 11-0/15-1, my bad.
They went 11-0 and 15-1 since the first round was best of 5
I’m sure one of the GSW runs felt like this, and I do remember the Lakers in 2001 felt similar.
They went 15-1 the entire playoffs, including sweeping Robinson & Duncan’s Spurs, with the last couple games in the WCF having scores like 110-80.
Then they reverse swept PHI after they stole game 1.
The big difference is that the Knicks aren’t the kind of super team as the Warriors in 2017. They’re just clicking
Amen
Danhausen removed the curse on them. It’s really that simple.
This team needed to make the finals to stay together, they weren’t getting shipped off to Milwaukee without playing every game like a game 7 first.
I also think its a positive feedback loop where their reward for playing this hard is actually more rest in the long run, because of sweeps/blowouts
And the only team that managed to take a game off them…was delivered an extraordinary annihilation for punishment…
That Game 6 ass whooping made people forget that the Hawks actually won two games that series.
*two games off them 😌
All the Hawks did was take a mere -2 points off of the Knicks’ +/-
It ain’t much but it’s honest work
That might be the most clever shit talk I’ve heard since my wife told a very angry looking Sixers fan she appreciated them being gracious hosts leaving game 4 😂
2 losses the whole way to the finals and the combined margin of defeat is -2 LMFAO
What’s BTA?
belt to ass
Belt to ass
Ah thanks. That’s some GAU right there
I feel like they won’t be battle tested properly for whatever monster advances out of the west
The Knicks really came to play these playoffs. Feels like every game they’re just locking in harder while everyone else is out here playing scared.
Not his fault that the Cavs are soft as hell.
[deleted]
To be fair it was a historical debilitating choke
Also if the Knicks were just lebrons Cavs or KG’s Celtics we’d be calling this run a generational run. It’s just that it’s the Lol Knicks so we don’t take it seriously. They’re winning by like 20 a game on average these last 10 games that’s insane.
Idk. I just think they are gassed. Coming off 2 7 game series cannot be good for your ability to respond to adversity.
Anyways. Bigger question is who to add to fix this team? I’d say Bron but what would it take to get him?
Bronny is the first step
Project Lebron’s first product
Maybe draft Bryce?
asking seriously here, does jaylen brown fit this current cavs team?
I mean he might but he’s been in the Celtics system for too long. I fear he might be kinda sucked into that.
If you give us Mobley, Wade, Strus, and a few picks I wouldn’t hate it
It’s amazing how many Cavs fans I saw on this subreddit sticking their nose up at the prospect of LeBron coming back.
This team wins at least one game this series if they have LeBron. Plus it’s just a good way for him to retire and Cavs need strong leadership regardless.
New York had 9 days off before the series, we’ve played every other day since April 29th. I think that’s like saying someone in muscle failure at the end of a marathon is giving up lol I really think we’re trying but we’re mentally and physically unable to do all the effort plays, the swarming defense, the rotations, the extra passes for better shots, the rebounding… Our legs aren’t under us on jump shots and we don’t fight for boards.
I’d be quicker to say we blow up the roster in the off-season if it wasn’t for the back to back 7 game series. LeBron talked all the time about how important it was to get past the first couple rounds as quick as possible and get the extra rest and that’s when he was in his prime.
Lol then you should have closed your series sooner if you’re the better team, no?
No shit bro they have Lames Soften on their team
Based off what Mitchell said in the presser on not losing game one like that would of been ideal, I can only imagine the attitude brought into the locker room behind closed doors after that game. He probably felt super deflated (who wouldn’t), but once you as the leader present yourself that way, it’s going to spread throughout the whole group.
Theyre just gassed man.
When was the last time an nba team made it to the finals after their first 2 rounds were 7 games?
Iirc it was 2008 celtics, but that was one of the most stacked team ever
If you go 7 games in the first 2 rounds, you don’t make the Finals simply because you ain’t that good.
Seriously. They don’t win regardless. If you were championship worthy you would never play back to back 7 games. If you make it past the Conference Finals it’s purely injury luck.
Granted, Katz might be speaking a tad bit too soon here…
…but honestly, it’s hard to counter this lmao
Nah they’re just doing the damn thing again lol
For the 25-26 Knicks, close out games are the hardest games to win >!for the other team!<
Call an ambulance!
But not for me…
lmao the spoiler tag really makes it. Knicks fans been through too much to not be pessimistic even when things are going well
He cracked the code. Close out games are always hard to win for someone.
Can’t make bad predictions if both sides make your prediction true.
We might be witnessing an all time great team i cant believe im saying this but they’re just way too good rn
People saying these Knicks don’t stand a chance against OKC or SA are completely delusional imo. Like are they even watching these games
I think they have a very real shot and would be favored against the injured Thunder. But no, I am not watching them beat the Cavs by 40 repeatedly.
/u/GoldTheLegend confirmed has no chill
I’m sure some are troll posts, but yeah, it’s not like the Knicks are barely winning these games, it’s been pure domination. No long series either.
It’s the East bro. They haven’t faced any great defensive opponents. Neither OKC nor the Spurs have a Harden for Brunson to tee off on.
It’s definitely an all time great playoff run so far. If they were to keep it up in the finals it would be up there with the best playoff runs ever.
Kings firing Brown after he turned the team around and then giving away Fox was such a Kings move to make. Brown has been pretty successful wherever he’s coached.
fr man. i hate to admit it too but they just dont have any weaknesses. its scary how easy they make it look sometimes.
All time great performance but no team can be all time great when they finish 3rd in the regular season in their weaker conference
Not all time great cuz their opposition is weak so far. If they stomp the Finals, then we can talk. Obviously they deserve credit for not losing a game in weeks. But the Spurs have had a much harder path - you can’t compare the Knicks’ opponents to the Spurs’
Too early to call them all time great. If they win, especially convincingly, the Finals, then we can talk. But they have yet to be tested
I know you’re not talking about the weak ass blazers and hospital wolves compared to a hot hawks, 6er’s that crushed the Celtics, and a cavs team that beat a 60 win pistons lol.
They make their opposition weak very few people had them coming out the east before the start of the playoffs
they’ve won by an all time great margin of victory. they’re beating these “weak” opponents worse than anyone has beaten their opponents in the playoffs, so what more can you ask? i agree they need to actually win to be considered an all time team, but so far they’ve done all you can ask of them.
The Knicks opponents have been harder than the Spurs’ pre-Thunder ones lmao.
I hear ya, I do. Our path has been pretty easy matchup-wise. However, there’s nothing you can do except beat the teams in front of you, and the Knicks have been absolutely shredding those teams.
All of the teams they’ve beaten in this run had winning records against western conference teams this year.
At least Mike Brown coached his team to a win to tie the series 2-2
Are we sure Kenny was coaching against the Knicks? Or did his analytics have the Sixers or Hawks winning their series’ against them?
Kenny’s still simulating games on Xbox
Analytically!
Series was over after the game 1 collapse
Cj McCollum has outplayed James harden, Joel embid, maxey, and Evan Mobley
There are lots of reasons why this run actually isn’t THAT impressive and we’ll be hearing all about it for the next two weeks!
forget two weeks, haters on the internet can find or make up any reason to downplay anybody’s success
Warriors get their rings discredited, Raptors get their ring discredited, Nuggets get their ring discredited, last year’s Thunder get their ring discredited, it goes on and on
no point trying to argue with them and their empty talk, just enjoy your team’s success because they did what others couldn’t
I mean I already see the “Cavs were just too tired” narrative going around. Like the series is long because you didn’t close it…
Daryl Morey is a goddamn liar….
….wait
I remember when Knicks fans hated Mike Brown like a month ago lol
To be fair, if he did what they were begging for (use KAT if running thru Brunson isn’t working, because Hawks Cs cannot deal with him), they wouldn’t be.
Oh well, I guess we should take solstice in giving this Knicks a scare.
It’s me, I’m Knicks fans.
I was wrong all season.
What kind of hypnosis/mind control are they doing on these multimillionaire Knicks to make them play this hard game after game?
They’re professional athletes they don’t just care about the money they want to win
I think it’s hard for any team to stay so focused to sweep 2 teams like this
Brown is a pretty good coach. Showing the team their faces when the pacers eliminated them last year was a risky move, but it’s keeping them locked in.
“…close out games are the hardest games to win…for our opponents”
He forgot to mention the last 3 words
Closeout game actually super easy, barely a inconvenient
And then you did a backflip and…
Easier when the other team has given up.
Nah Cavs just cut big into the lead. Game not over yet
It’s often true. But you can also break a team in a close out game if you come out playing better than you have all series.
I think that’s what has me most impressed by this Knick run. The focus in closeout games, just burying teams like that.
Kudos to Brown for the mental and emotional prep to get them ready like that, and the way the team responds.
issue in the west is that both teams have been dealing with injuries throughout the current series, and arguably OKC will lose the current series due to said injuries.
Warriors shoulda replaced Kerr with Mike Brown
Stop. Knicks are deep as hell & healthy. Warriors are not. They should have built a better roster instead of holding on to Dray after that 2022 run & subsequent punch incident.
There was nothing wrong with holding onto Draymond, but his & Poole’s contract extensions were stupid. They also should’ve done a Sign & Trade with Klay if they knew they weren’t going to be able to meet in the middle.
Poole literally averaged 25+ ppg on efficient shooting without Curry. He was worth the contract prior to the punch. After the punch he was a much worse player that wasn’t worth that contract. He was never himself again.
Brother, I’m like 90% confident they gave him that contract in exchange for not pressing charges against Draymond lol. He was good, but not max contract good.
A guy averaging 26 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds AND WINS when your star sits is 10000% worth a max.
And actually watching him play, he was an ethical SGA on offense. Literally everyone was saying it’s unfair and we were spoiled that we found the next star.
Then the punch happened.
Lol, if that’s what you think, then, I can’t help you.
A lot wrong holding onto Draymond who essentially destroyed your 100 million contract with a player that was doing very well.
If he was worth that contract then he’d be playing well on the Wizards and Pelicans.
if Dray is who you’re blaming, then you should be blaming Kerr cause he’s the one who let Dray get off that punch situation with no consequences and was more worried about who leaked the video
The front office is also to blame because they were too obsessed on building a 2 timeline team. They wanted to keep the core 2 guys(Curry, Dray). Poole was Klay’s replacement. They ignored who Kerr really wanted & drafted essentially 3 bad picks over guys like Wagner, Hali, Avdija to name a few.
if we’re pretending those guys would’ve panned out under Kerr or if he would’ve just randomly benched them because he wants to “honor the vets”
no idea why Avdija is even there when he was a 9th pick when Warriors had #2 pick and never blew up until years later on his 2nd team
These are guys that Kerr wanted btw. And they had a chance to get them.
You can’t be this dumb. If they draft a guy Kerr didn’t want, you expect that player to break into the rotation regularly? Nope. So they didn’t play & develop.
Jordan Poole developed because he had to play with the injuries & lost season. His skillset helped the team a ton too. Gui Santos has developed nicely. Podz is a guy Kerr liked, he played immediately.
You see the difference? If Kerr likes the prospect they’ll play. Wiseman, Kuminga, & Moody weren’t the guys Kerr preferred so it was hard for them to get on the floor like that & develop.
funny how Kerr never said shit about who he wanted until those guys became good
this whole roster is full of guys Kerr loves. bunch of undersized guards who are “connectors”
great, and Kerr will have ample input into this year’s draft. no excuses for this guy not panning out
Poole developed in G-League
Kerr had Gui in the doghouse all season until he was forced to play him with other guys injured
Podz peaked his rookie year and has stagnated since with more time spent “developing” under Kerr. his 3P% has even declined every year
you see the difference? those other guys were allowed to take up a bunch of minutes immediately and can play through mistakes while Kerr randomly DNPs young players cause he wants to “honor the vets”
same reason why Moody got benched for ice cold CP3 and Klay in play-in loss to Kings despite Moody being 2nd leading scorer
same reason why Will Richard was randomly DNPed when he was hot early in season and Warriors lost all those games
Im not reading all that. Just get off my dick
If he wins a chip, I think people will have to start to put more respect on his name. He was the one who said Curry/Thompson might be the GOAT backcourt. He got laughed at for that too. I wonder how Draymond would have developed under him…
I think Brown was the coach when all 3 were drafted.
Helps going against Harden in a clincher. Folds like a lawn chair everytime.
It’s cause his team hasn’t played a actually good team yet
Well, it usually is harder when the team under threat of being closed out doesn’t just roll over and die.
Cavs were fucking pathetic
THEYRE UP BY 25 ARE THESE PEOOLE STUPID
